Why are we humans competitive, aggressive and selfish when the ideals of life are so obviously to be cooperative, loving and selfless? How are we to explain the human condition?
I’m Jeremy Griffith, I’m an Australian biologist and I’ve dedicated my life to understanding and explaining this core problem of the human condition.
Well, science can at last explain that when we humans became conscious and set out in search of knowledge, our already established instinctive orientations to life unwittingly resisted our necessary experiments in self-management, leaving us no choice but to defy our instincts, a defiance that unavoidably caused us to become competitive, selfish and aggressive.
This explanation reveals that instead of being villains, humans are actually the heroes of the story of life on Earth—because we had to defy our instincts and suffer unjust condemnation while we searched for knowledge, ultimately for self-knowledge, explanation for why we have been divisively behaved.
And most wonderfully, with this explanation found, all our defensive, competitive, aggressive and selfish ways of coping are obviously obsoleted.
As a former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, Professor Harry Prosen, has said about my book FREEDOM (which, by the way, is free online): “I have no doubt FREEDOM provides the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.”
This all-important rehabilitating and transforming insight into human behaviour is summarised in a filmed interview I recently did on British radio, so I urge you to watch THE Interview now!
