Australian Launch, National Tour & Audio Presentation

 

Launch at The Australian Museum 5 June 2003

Over 200 journalists, high profile Australians and interested members of the public attended the Launch of A Species In Denial on the top floor of the Australian Museum in Sydney, overlooking Hyde Park. Eddie Coffey, of Peribo books, said it was the second largest audience for a book launch he had seen in his over 50 years in book publishing.

National Tour June 2003

Jeremy Griffith and Tim Macartney-Snape went on an Australia-wide tour to promote the Launch of A Species In Denial. Considering the FHA was boycotting the ABC and the Sydney Morning Herald (until they apologise and make satisfactory redresssee Defamation Actions) this promotional tour and media response was highly successful.

Mon June 16

Australian National University (Canberra).
‘The Mountains of the Mind’ public lecture, part of the Toyota Public Lecture Series 2003, by Jeremy and Tim.

The Canberra Times ran a 400 word review of this lecture in its 17 June 2003 edition, reporting that it ‘provided plenty of food for thought for the audience’.

University of Western Australia (Perth).
‘The Mountains of the Mind’ public lecture by Jeremy and Tim at the Social Science Lecture Theatre.

The Subiaco Post (Perth) promoted the UWA lecture in 300-word article on 14 June 2003.

Thu June 19

Radio 6PR (Perth).
Tony McManus interviewed Jeremy and Tim at 3pm.

Dymocks bookstore (Rundle Mall, Adelaide) Winner of The Australian Publishers Association ‘Bookshop of the Year Award’.
Presentation given by Jeremy and Tim, followed by a book signing at the Adelaide Writer’s Centre.

Fri June 20

Gleebooks bookstore (Sydney).
The National Tour concluded with a presentation by Jeremy and Tim at Gleebooks, one of Sydney’s oldest bookstores.
