    While Buddhism and other religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. What Jeremy is putting forward is that for there to be a fundamental change in our human situation we had to understand the human condition – humans’ capacity for good and evil – from a biological perspective.     We are aware of Dr Richard Davidson’s work and his close friendship with the Dalai Lama. The human condition has been such a deeply, deeply tragic journey which has caused so much mental pain and anguish. What is so significant about Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can understand humans’ psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story presents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. We can at last understand the source of our upset and bring great compassion and kindness to ourselves and others and, most significantly, we don’t have to overly confront the upset within us—see FAQ 1.19 ‘A caution about the danger of over-exposure’. Great to have your interest Bob. Yes this biological breakthrough at last frees us from the false excuse that we are driven by genetic selfishness or survival of the fittest but it takes a little time to work through our old way of thinking about biology. THE Interview explains the key distinction between our selfless behaviour and cooperation seen in the animal and plant kingdom, is that humans have genuinely selfless instincts. While other animals and plants appear to be cooperating, as Jeremy explains in chapter 4 of his definitive book FREEDOM, this type of behaviour is actually a subtle form of selfishness, driven by the genetically selfish strategies of reciprocity (or kin selection). The organism is cooperating for a benefit—‘if you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours’—it is reciprocal so it’s ultimately still selfish. As Jeremy explains further in Freedom Essay 25 (which summarises the biology presented in FREEDOM) the nature of genes means that selfishness is normally the order of the day: “each sexually reproducing individual normally has to ensure the reproduction of its own genes, which means sexually reproducing individuals cannot normally develop the ability to behave unconditionally selflessly towards other sexually reproducing individuals—which, as has been explained, is what full cooperation and thus complete integration requires. Certainly sexually reproducing individuals can develop conditionally selfless behaviour towards other sexually reproducing individuals. Situations of reciprocity can develop where one sexually reproducing individual selflessly helps another on the proviso that they are selflessly helped in return, which, in effect, means both parties are still selfishly benefiting. So sexually reproducing individuals can develop reciprocity because it is, in essence, still selfish behaviour: it doesn’t give away an advantage to other sexually reproducing individuals and, therefore, doesn’t compromise the reproductive chances of the sexually reproducing individual practising the behaviour.” This essay then explains our human moral instincts are not driven by reciprocity but rather developed through the amazing love-indoctrination process that produced genuinely selfless or altruistic instincts in humans. So we recommend you read Freedom Essay 21 and then FREEDOM because, as you can see, the truthful human condition acknowledging biology that Jeremy presents is absolutely fascinating that’s for sure!

As FAQ 1.9 ‘Should people be sceptical’ explains, the absolutely astonishing claims made about Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough explanation, such as it is the insight that will ‘solve the human condition and save the world’, do warrant initial extreme scepticism, but the amazing fact is that they all withstand scrutiny. A person can begin reading the explanation and the more they read into it the more they will realise the claims, that initially appeared ‘fantastical’, are actually true, and in time become appreciated for their forthright honesty in indicating where the solution to our problems lies. So we recommend you watch or read THE Interview which is the ideal summary before reading FREEDOM which you can freely access here on our homepage.

In Part 4 of THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains that for the upset within us to be completely healed it will take generations but importantly we can be immediately free of its effects, see FAQ 4.1. Importantly, Jeremy explains that we have an all-sensitive, pure, all-connected, true moral part of ourselves, which we refer to as our ‘soul’, which we can now admit is our instinctive self. Without the defence for that corrupted state, such a direct and truthful acknowledgement of what we have meant by ‘the spiritual part of our nature’ has been unbearable, but we can now see that it is this repressed all-loving, all-connected instinctive side of ourselves.     It’s wonderful you have read FREEDOM Tom and we agree it is compulsive reading! With regard to the pandemic, as Jeremy says at the beginning of THE Interview, “The turmoil and trauma of this pandemic has only amplified the now dire need in the world for a deeper, lasting solution to all the chaos and suffering in human life.” So it is an amplification, but it was always going to be pretty dire at the this point of the journey. At the end of Part 2 of THE Interview Jeremy includes a graph recognising the ever-increasing level of upset in the world has virtually doubled in recent times, he says: “While we’ve had to live in denial of our corrupted, psychologically upset condition while we couldn’t explain it, the truth is that on a graph showing the ever-increasing levels of upset in humans, those levels, especially of psychosis and alienation, have been increasing so rapidly lately that the line tracking their rise is near vertical with the amount of upset virtually doubling now in each new generation!”     In terms of your pertinent question are we too late to save the world, no it is not too late. It is certainly the 11th hour, but as Jeremy explains, once this takes off, this information will turn things around almost overnight, see FAQ 1.4. We recommend Jeremy’s Freedom Essays about ‘Do we fail or do we make it?’ (see F. Essays 55—58). We suggest that you will only have to read a few lines or watch a few minutes of any of Jeremy’s presentations to realise that this does walk straight down the middle of what has historically been the off-limits subject of the human condition and not only describe it, but explain it, and in so doing, solve it!

While the explanation of the human condition is certainly deep, the concepts are actually very simple; but because it presents a massive paradigm shift in the way we view humans it just takes time to absorb. This summary interview is broken into four short parts to help people access the presentation. Also FAQ 1.16 explains the very nature of the human condition means explanation of it can be difficult to access initially because it has been a terrifying subject that we had to live in denial of until it was solved.

To clarify, this is not a repeat of the hind and front brain argument which states that humans are a mentally unbalanced species due to an inadequate coordination between our emotional old brain and our cognitive new brain. In Introductory Video/Freedom Essay 4 Jeremy Griffith discusses that while many have identified the elements of instinct and intellect involved in creating the human condition, the biological breakthrough his treatise provides is the clarifying explanation of the nature of the conflict between them and explains without that explanation the conflict could not be resolved. Astonishingly, THE Interview presents the solution to our desperately troubled world by solving the core problem of the human condition, thus ending all the conflict and suffering in human life at its source, and providing the now urgently needed road map for the complete rehabilitation and transformation of our lives and world.

Jeremy Griffith’s work has no hidden political or religious agenda. Now the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition has at last been solved we can understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wings of politics and bring the whole necessary but ugly business of politics to an end (see our FAQs about politics). Nor is this a propagation of a religious viewpoint; Jeremy’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition demystifies religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts (see our FAQs about religion).

    As THE Interview explains all humans are born with loving moral instincts but we all now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition and, in the extreme, that psychologically conflicted upset state produces psychopathic behaviour. Of course this breakthrough explanation doesn’t condone or sanction the horrendous attrocities humans can commit (what historically has been termed ‘evil’) rather, through bringing compassionate understanding to the source of humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it (see FAQ 4.2 How does this rehabilitate ‘evil’). With regard to Jeremy Griffith’s demystification of ‘God’ as Negative Entropy appearing to be too reductionist, can we suggest reading FAQ 6.2, which explains that “If we humans are 2 million years hurt, damaged and wretched, as in truth we are (see Video/Freedom Essay 10), then the loneliness of our situation has been absolutely astronomical, and so it follows that the comfort we have derived from a metaphysical view of ‘God’ has also been immense. Obviously then, the scientific/‘laws of physics’ demystification of ‘God’ is going to seem very inadequate in terms of embodying all the attributes that we have imbued ‘God’ with. But, in fact, all the attributes we have imbued ‘God’ with—‘His’ lovingness of our fallen state, ‘His’ reassurance that if we are as true to him as we can be all will be okay in the end, ‘His’ kindness towards all forms of suffering, ‘His’ essential ‘goodness’, ‘His’ ‘bigness’ in every sense; namely ‘His’ universality, ‘His’ omnipotence (all-powerfulness), omnipresence (all-presentness) and omniscience (all-knowingness)—are actually now confirmed and reinforced by our ability to understand ‘Him’; but this sudden demystification of ‘God’ may take some time to adjust to. In fact, in fairness to how much we 2-million-years-corrupted humans have needed the support of a metaphysical ‘God’, almost everyone should expect some shock and resistance to have to work through when absorbing the scientific explanation of ‘God’.”     We recommend looking at all our FAQs about religion especially FAQs ‘What is God’ and ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’ and FAQ 1.26 ‘What is soul’. There is so much to consider and adjust to but, we suggest, people come to realise this demystification of life doesn’t contradict our spiritual experiences but rather only enhances and fulfills them.

Many famous thinkers, including psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, have recognised that as children humans could think truthfully but mostly lost that ability as adults. This quote from Freud is especially powerful: “What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult” (see FREEDOM ch 7:3). Hi Salomea, Jeremy and others here at the World Transformation Movement (WTM) are actually working on a book about how this understanding of the human condition makes the real therapy of human psychosis possible. Basically, now that we can understand the origins of the human races’s psychologically upset or corrupted condition, we’re for the first time ever in a position to explore human psychosis from the safe foundation insight into the overall psychosis in all humans. And, not only that, safely understand our own particular experience of humanity’s psychologically upset condition, for example in chapter 8:16C of his definitive book FREEDOM, Jeremy explains how no mother has been able to adequately nurture her offspring under the duress of the human condition in the world today. And in chapter 8:16D Jeremy explains how we can now understand how our father’s preoccupation with having to champion our conscious self or ego over the ignorance of our instinctive self or soul has crippled their ability to adequately reinforce us with unconditional love during our childhood. There are amazing insights by Jeremy in these chapters into how the incredible innocence and sensitivity of children causes them to blame themselves for shortfalls in love during their upbringing (see for example paragraphs 988 and 1005) and how the anxiety of that keeps bubbling up during their adulthood as you recognise. So there are lots of insights in FREEDOM that bring relieving understanding to the dysfunction that all humans variously suffer from now after humanity’s 2 million year heroic journey to find this liberating understanding. Anyway Salomea, these are some of the insights that Jeremy will be talking about in the book he and others here are writing about the psychosis that everyone is variously suffering from.
