Many Thanks for Sharing your Knowledge With Us.

To the scientific establishment. Be honest in your accounts. If you’re not in it to serve humanities interests as Jeremy Griffith is then get out and stay out! These insights I have tested and I am much more at peace and secure in self. It has given me the transparency I needed to feel secure. This is what science is all about. It took an outsider to think truthfully about this. Eventually no one will feel like an outsider ever again.

WTM Admin

For those who are interested in the role of mechanistic science in finding the explanation of the human condition, and then its limitations in recognising that explanation when it is at last found, as it has been, you can read more in chapter 2:4 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM.

The HC understanding has been life saving, life expanding and helped me find a part of myself that I did not know was so accessable. I have a long way to go, but now at least I know for sure where the trail is. Many thanks!!!

WTM Admin

Gabriel, thank you for your appreciation! It’s great you want to read Jeremy’s book FREEDOM which is available for free on our homepage here (along with his other key books, including THE Interview) to read online or download. You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon. (Otherwise you can purchase hard copies from Amazon or other good bookstores.) And once people have watched THE Interview we recommend they explore our homepage HumanCondition.com which presents all our freely available key introductory videos and publications.

Michael

Is there another way to explain this as I don’t understand it in the way to break it down for me thankyou Michael

WTM Admin

As THE Interview explains, the human condition is the most fearful of subjects because it’s the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad and our fear of this interface can make it hard to understand all that is explained in one viewing. Our FAQ 1.16 explains what is needed to overcome this initial ‘deaf effect’ isn’t a more simplified version but rather a preparedness to re-read and/or re-listen to what is being written or said. This process erodes our historic denial thereby allowing the compassionate and immensely relieving insights to become accessible.

That’s a lot of words for we’re all crazy.

WTM Admin

While great care has been taken to present the explanation as quickly and simply as possible (which is done in Part 1 of THE Interview), opening up the human condition does mean that there are several absolutely critical questions to be answered (Parts 2, 3 & 4). For a very brief summary of the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation see FAQ 1.3. But we suggest the more you digest this new paradigm of knowledge you may begin to appreciate the profundity of Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition, because it brings redeeming and healing understanding to our species’ psychologically troubled existence; he provides the very good, indeed heroic, reason for why “we’re all crazy” and in doing so enables the amelioration of that state.

Carol Livingstone

The interview was very impressive, it really made you think and analyze your own way of acting and re-acting to life’s circumstances.

Carol Livingstone

After watching the video, I am going immediately out to buy the book “Freedom” by the author!

Carol

Everyone should listen to this.

I love this. I thank you so much.

Mr. Griffith is spot on! He explains our natural state! As an only child his info is in me instinctually, as an adulterated American, his book will be a guide and standard, to all my loving needs! Very intellectually, stimulating, intellectually, is a renowned book explaining my unmet needs surrounding my heart mind connection. A Buddhist monk once said, “point to your mind”, I pointed to my head, he said no, then pointed to his heart?

Mukondi

I want to know about life

Sam

Thanks. Very enlightening

Cosimo

I really like all the topics of the Human Condition, however I wonder why cannot find any reference about the neuroanatomy of the brain i.e. conscious v subconscious mind or subliminal which also lay the foundations of the way we act. Basically, it seems that Evolution or else? Is still and continuously interfering with our higher wishes or aspiration in this life. Thank You

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition explains how our conscious mind became alienated from our loving, cooperative instinctive self, causing it to be forced into a subconscious counterpoint. Importantly, while we do still possess very primitive reflexes, such as for ‘fight or flight’, beneath our altruistic, unconditionally selfless instincts, these primitive reflexes do not control our behaviour beyond very narrow scenarios or threats. The truth is that our combative and insecure behaviour is not instinctive in any way; it is the result of a psychosis. Basically, as is explained in THE Interview, the argument that our behaviour is dictated by survival or selfish instincts was just a convenient excuse while we searched for the psychosis-addressing-and-solving real explanation of our divisive behaviour (see FAQ 1.29 ‘Is the human condition biological or psychological’).     You might also be interested in chapter 7 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, which is about Consciousness and its origins. In particular you will find explanation of the emergence of the association cortex interesting.

Bruce Brown

Wonderful news thanks

Brent Austin

So what is the condition and how does someone know it.

WTM Admin

Hi Brent, as is explained in our FAQ 1.1, ‘What is the human condition?’, “while it’s undeniable that humans are capable of great love, we also have an unspeakable history of brutality, rape, torture, murder and war. Despite all our marvellous accomplishments, we humans have been the most ferocious and destructive force that has ever lived on Earth—and the eternal question has been ‘why?’ Even in our everyday behaviour, why have we humans been so competitive, selfish and aggressive when clearly the ideals of life are to be the complete opposite, namely cooperative, selfless and loving? In fact, why are we so ruthlessly competitive, selfish and brutal that human life has become all but unbearable and we have nearly destroyed our own planet?! The agony of being unable to truthfully answer this fundamental question of why we are the way we are—divisively instead of cooperatively behaved—has been the particular burden of human life. It has been our species’ particular affliction or condition—our ‘human condition’.”     And you can know that Jeremy Griffith has at last got to the bottom of the human condition and found the redeeming explanation of it, because as he explains in paragraph 73 of FREEDOM the ultimate test of any hypothesis is how accountable it is of our own lives – as the greatest of all physicists, Albert Einstein, once said that ‘truth is what stands the test of experience’ (Out of My Later Years, 1950). And so you can know that this is the breakthrough explanation of the human condition because once you understand the explanation and begin to apply it, you will discover it is so able to make sense of human behaviour it makes it transparent. This transparency of ourselves and our world—for example, the exposure of all our falseness—that this understanding of the human condition brings, is the ultimate ‘test of experience’ that confirms that the understanding being presented here is the long-sought explanation of the human condition. In this particular scientific study—the biological analysis of the human condition—we humans are the subjects, which means we can experience, feel and know the truthfulness or otherwise of the explanations being put forward. And so, fantastic a claim as it may seem, you will find that what is being presented here is the long-sought-after, desperately needed, psychosis-addressing-and-resolving, human race-transforming explanation of the human condition.

This chap is fixated on feelings of guilt. Is this because he was brought up with Western Religion? Does he not recognise that some of us DO think that the human consciousness is the wonder of the universe? Sadly what he says may speak for all those indoctrinated with original sin ie the ‘believers’. Is this all not a rant against religion and for science (which sentiment I do share)?

WTM Admin

We suggest the more you absorb just how redeeming the instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is, the more you will find you are able to see that all of us labour under a burden of guilt, and that this guilt is the source of all our defensive angry, egocentric and alienated behaviour. You might also be interested in our FAQs about religion which explain that religion deserves praise for being a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-scientific view.

Catherine Wright

This was so hopeful and so simple. I felt like evil won in 2020, Bullies run the world.

WTM Admin

What is so important about Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition is that it finally explains the real reason for why humans’ competitive and power-hungry behaviour became an unavoidable, indeed necessary, part of human life. Proving we were better than someone else gave us validation and reinforcement to counter the deep insecurity we felt about having to become self-corrupted. And so competition, sustained by the incentives of materialism and capitalism, are what maintained humanity’s heroic search for knowledge, ultimately for self-knowledge. With our goodness and worth now biologically established, we no longer need to be preoccupied with proving our goodness and worth. Solving the human condition solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at its source so we can actually stop the destruction of ourselves and save the world.

Philip Aron Hilmon

This is so very redeeming and controversial to our long term teaching. The real question is how do we implement this world saving hidden reality

WTM Admin

Hi Philip, understanding the human condition gives us the ability for the first time ever to understand every aspect of human behaviour and our behaviour will change naturally as a result. At last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because at last we have the first principle-based science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. This is the rapidly transforming practical effect of being able to understand the human condition which is fully explained and illustrated on our Transformation page. Also FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 explain the far-reaching application of this information and Freedom Essay 15 is all about ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith as there is so much helpful and practical discussion taking place there about this immensely redeeming and relieving knowledge!

Antypsychiatry by SZASZ is more valuable

WTM Admin

What is unique about Jeremy Griffith’s synthesis is he actually solves the dilemma of human condition of ‘why, when the ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish?’ by clarifying the difference between the way the intellect and instincts work. That is the great breakthrough his work represents.     While we don’t know too much about Dr Szasz, he appears to have been a very brave thinker. As Jeremy explains in The Interview, while we couldn’t explain our corrupted, psychologically upset condition, we’ve had to live in denial of it. That denial has been necessary, however it means everyone has been masquerading around as though there was nothing wrong, and Dr Szasz appears to have spent his career bursting that bubble in various ways (you might be interested in Freedom Essay 48 about another psychiatrist, R.D. Laing, and his fearless honesty).     Finally, as Jeremy says in Part 4 of THE Interview, “Basically, now that our corrupted condition is finally truthfully explained, honesty replaces denial and the world heals. ‘Bullshit’, which is our everyday word for all the dishonest denial that’s been going on, protected us from all the truths about our corrupted condition that we couldn’t properly explain, but it was destroying the world and it now stops.”

Daniela

Very interesting, thank you. My question is, how did we acquire consciousness in the first place? Not our moral instincts, but our metacognition. Our neuroanatomy is genetic, even though our thoughts and our consciousness are, as you say, beynd our genetic directionality. So, how did we come by it? I wonder about the similarity of the concept that you call consciousness with what Bandura called “sense of agency”...which produces “self-efficacy”.

WTM Admin

In Part 3 of THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains how consciousness developed as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process and refers the viewer to Chapter 7 of his definitive book FREEDOM for a comprehensive explanation — a summary of which is provided in FAQ 5.4 titled ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’.     While we are not familiar with the nuances of Albert Bandura’s theory of self-agency and self-efficacy, it appears to be a recognition of the conscious power of free-will, and from there explaining how we can exercise this power to improve our lives. In this sense it is a method of self-management, of coping with the psychological and physical impact of the human condition on the individual and society, rather than addressing the source of our species’ troubled condition and bring relieving understanding to it. This is what Jeremy’s treatise does and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world.

Enlightening Science Based Wisdom

Sam Cannarozzi

Dear Professor Griffith and Freedomists: I have watched your numerous videos and downloaded your book - I might note that this is a VERY generous offering! I haven’t read everything but what sums up your 600 page book for me is (from chapter 3) “(The first conscious human being) needed the understanding found by science of the difference in the way genes and nerves process information; he needed to be able to explain that the gene-based learning system can orientate species to situations but is incapable of insight into the nature of change.” Why did you have to spend 600 page for this simple message ? I get it, I didn’t need it to be said literally thousands of times ! In regards to the human condition and despite the fact that initial guilt can now be explained and ‘cured’, this for me doesn’t explain away the cruelty that human beings inflict on their fellow human beings. If Putin understands your message, I doubt he would declare peace in Ukraine. I do not follow any formal religion. But as a baptised catholic I NEVER accepted the doctrine that one is born into sin. How can one possibly imagine that a new born babe is a sinner ?? !!! I believe rather that when one is born, one then must BECOME a human being by contributing to bettering the world. That is not a given, it has to be acted upon. For christian believers, “Love your neighbour as yourself” is the equivalent of your biological realisation in the sense that it is enough for them. If one is a Buddhist or Muslim, the same is true. One comes to a realisation and tries to live it. So I thank you for all your research, but aside from saying, yes this is true I don’t see how this is a life-changing revelation. Cordially yours, Sam Cannarozzi (France)

WTM Admin

While great care has been taken to present the explanation as quickly and simply as possible — which is why alongside FREEDOM we have created THE Interview, introductory videos and numerous FAQs — opening up the human condition does mean that there are several absolutely critical questions to be explained, including the meaning of our existence, the origin of our unconditionally selfless moral instincts, why we humans became conscious when other animals haven’t, and of the emergence of humans from our ape ancestor through to our present immensely human-condition-afflicted upset state.     We suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset, which in the extreme, produces people, even dictators, who are addicted to having power over others; see our FAQ 4.2 ‘How does this rehabilitate what we historically term ‘evil’’. Your questions are also addressed in FAQ 1.40 ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. Fundamentally, having found the good reason that we had to defy our instincts means all our defensive, ‘bad’ behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant. This is the essence of the transformation that this breakthrough makes available, and explains why it is available to all humans, no matter what their age or circumstances.     And, finally, while religious assurances, such as ‘God loves you’ in Christianity, provided comfort, they failed to explain WHY we are lovable. Ultimately we needed to find the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work which THE Interview explains and is presented in more detail in Video/Freedom Essay 4. We maintain that only by bringing reconciling understanding to our conflicted selves can we truly ameliorate and heal our psychological condition at its source.

How can an animal or human be “unconscious” since they are, in fact, sentient?

WTM Admin

Clearly, while other animals have various levels of ‘awareness’, or are sentient and able to perceive or feel things, none are ‘conscious’ in the fundamental sense that none can consciously manage events like humans can. Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview that consciousness means being sufficiently aware of how experiences are related to attempt to manage change from a basis of understanding cause and effect, and so it is accurate to describe humans as the only animals possessing ‘fully conscious minds’, see FAQ 5.5 ‘Aren’t other animals capable of conscious thought like humans? / How can you say humans are the only fully conscious animals?’ Also we recommend Chapter 7 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation of how full consciousness developed in humans as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process which is absolutely fascinating (summarised in FAQ 5.4 ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’).

Sara Barrass

Please somehow drip feed this to Putin and others of the same ilk.

WTM Admin

THE Interview explains that humans’ need for power and domination is not driven by us having savage animal instincts but by a psychosis caused by a clash between our intellect and cooperative instincts. So we can now understand that all human aggression and anger is psychological in origin and ultimately an expression of the human condition, which in the extreme, produces people who are addicted to having power over others; see our FAQ 4.2 How does this rehabilitate what we historically term ‘evil’. Also you may find Freedom Essay 29, ‘Can human conflict ever be bought to an end’ most helpful.

WTM Admin

Thank you for sharing a little about yourself Tony and yes finally being able to understand the human-condition-battle between our instinct and intellect is so immensely relieving. As you seem to be discovering what is so significant about Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can understand humans’ psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story presents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. We can at last understand the source of our upset and bring great compassion and kindness to ourselves and others and, most significantly, we don’t have to overly confront the upset within us—as FAQ 1.19 ‘A caution about the danger of over-exposure / Advice for people with mental health issues’ summarises. This FAQ explains that everyone and especially those with mental health issues need to manage their exposure to this very confronting information, and any information we do provide should not be used as, or as a substitute for, professional counselling. Our homepage shows all the ways to pursue your interest and we send all our very best wishes for your continued recovery.

This is by far the most impactful and important information I have learned in my entire life. I have always been a seeker - and had comforted myself with my philosophical idea that our human job is to Learn, and that when we are Ready, we will Know. Well …. Now we DO know. We have the complete story of humanity, and therefore a much more certain idea of our Purpose. Ok, but what was the original cause of our conscious awakening?

WTM Admin

Thanks for you question Vickie. In Part 3 of THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains how we became fully conscious which developed as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process. He also refers the viewer to Chapter 7 of his definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation — a summary of which is in FAQ 5.4 titled ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’.

What an interesting knowledge

This has been talked about in the book the path of the spiritual warrior , hence here is no problem ever was never all be , wake up , fear nothing and everything , the end

WTM Admin

To ultimately resolve the human condition we needed to find the scientific explanation for why, when the ideals are to be loving and cooperative, we are so selfish, competitive and destructive. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.

Wonderful series of interviews. Thank you very much!

WTM Admin

Thank you so much Alma. For those not familiar with it, THE Interview is one interview, broken into four parts: Part 1. The psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition Part 2. Since this instinct vs intellect explanation is reasonably obvious, why haven’t we been taught it at school? Part 3. How did we humans acquire our instinctive cooperative and loving moral conscience? Part 4. How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?

You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon. However, if you are particularly wanting a hard copy, you can purchase them from Amazon or other good bookstores. We should also point out that with regard to the difficulty you are having understanding, that the fundamental explanation is actually very simple, but the very nature of the human condition means explanation of it can be difficult to access initially as it has been the most terrifying of subjects to face because it is the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad as a species, and we have necessarily lived in almost total denial of it. We suggest looking at Video/Freedom Essay 1 titled ‘Your block to the most wonderful of all gifts’ where Jeremy Griffith explains this initial ‘deaf effect’ and how to overcome it, which is also summarised in FAQ 1.16.

Samuel Sylvester

Grateful for this information now can understand the human mind

Angela Garjoaba

Veri important!

Sam

Sir, in your speech you are lacking ‘the beginning’. You are speaking about human condition but not explaining ‘what human’ is. It should beginn something like this, ‘ human is complex social being, to undersand it we will have to devide it, and study it, in piecec wile knoving that they are one. First devision, BODY and THAT WICH LIVES IN THE BODY. Body can be divided in two again, so it whould be BRAIN and MEAT. Brain can be divided in to Conscious and Unconscious. Unconscious is divided into Instincts and Motorical functions, so what are instincts? Ther is only one instincts, “to maintain form” to do that ir relies on 3 main subinstincts, and they are, desire to consume, desire to reproduce, and desire for higer hierarchical position.’ When studying we must see diference in ‘exsplanations’ and ‘descriptions’ it takes a lot of time for me to explain what human is and English is not my first language. I apologize for the grammatical errors, I hope I have been able to convey the essence.

If the theory is correct and right what does it mean for our practical lives? Once we have learned the true nature of humankind now void of guilt does the knowledge change our attitudes, lives, and behaviour in general? We have all always known that love and cooperation are positive and ennobling.

Hi Hana, understanding the human condition gives us the ability for the first time ever to understand every aspect of human behaviour and our behaviour will change naturally as a result. At last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because at last we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith as there is so much helpful and practical discussion taking place there about this immensely relieving knowledge!
