I love this interview. It resonates with me. I have intuitively always known that humans are indeed inherently good. 😇 And I also believe that world peace is possible. ☮️ Could this be the solution? I hope so! I will watch the next interview for sure.

Sensational!

John Crossick

The interview is interesting. With some flashes of brilliance. But the diagnosis and remedy missed a vital component - once we moved from instinct to intellect (assuming this happened as there is no proof of this step) our awareness of our own mortality must have been devastating given we have no proof of the existence of anything of ourselves beyond death. If we live as if we are not eternal, this is terrifying as we a limited existence. And if we live as if there is life after death, how can we be sure this is true and if it true how are we best to live given this knowledge. This fear will not disappear with the ideas put forward by Jeremy Griffith.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment, John. Just to quickly deal with the idea that there is no evidence that we transitioned from instinctively controlled state to a conscious state. There is evidence from skull fossils, which are indicative of brain size, and show a dramatic increase in size approximately 2 million years ago; there is the lack of technology from our early ancestors; and we can also look at extant apes. It really does stand to reason that we gradually transitioned from a non-conscious to a conscious state, and I suggest it is not something contested in scientific circles.     To your main point: the idea that becoming conscious of our mortality must have been “devastating” does not take into account that our ancestors were not originally psychologically upset and at odds with their instinctive self and the rest of the universe which was aligned with that instinctive self, and therefore were not afraid of death. As Jeremy explains in Part 5.2 of Freedom Expanded Book 1, “When we were innocent we were so in tune with everything around us and so happy inside and so alive that death was not an issue. Death is only an issue when we live a wretched life, where we become so selfish that it matters if we die or not. Fear of death is a product of selfishness, which in turn is a product of alienation, which in turn is the loss of the generosity and meaning we once had before we became upset.” Yes, fear of death followed the advent of the human condition, it did not cause it, and when we humans are no longer tortured by the human condition, it will go.

I totally agree that we have lived completely with love and peace for almost all of our existence. This changed after the younger dryas series of impacts 12,800 years to 11,600 . every environment was dramatically changed, humanity was hanging on. resources were scarce so we had little choice but to compete I look forward to comments. Keith Parker

WTM Admin

Thanks for your comment, Keith. We suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how realistic and accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset. As THE Interview explains we have completely loving and selfless instincts, and that our greed and conflict isn’t the product of limited resources, but a psychosis resulting from a clash between our emerging conscious mind and those pre-established instincts. Selfishness, which is what fighting over resources is, is a symptom of the underlying, deep insecurity in humans caused by the human condition, so if we solve that condition we resolve any problems over resources. Solving the human condition meant answering the essential question of why, when the ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? It is this question of questions that Jeremy has solved with his explanation. To quote FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding solve everything’: “So, in a world fast going crazy from the effects of the human condition, this is the now desperately needed reconciling understanding that brings about a new world for humans FREE of the agony of the human condition. This is the understanding that ends human suffering at its source, and unites the human race.”

Enjoyed this. However, it appears to me that he went off the rails when he opined that left wing is wrong and right wing is correct.

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s work opens up a new way of thinking so it takes a little time to fully absorb this new paradigm and our human condition does present the ultimate paradox. His biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work certainly doesn’t excuse the right-wing for its corrupting behaviour, nor unfairly focus on the failing of the left, which is that its insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing and thus regressing, not progressing, the search for knowledge, but rather brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Ok ..you got my attention..I am always skeptical of these type things..

WTM Admin

As WTM FAQ 1.9 ‘Should people be sceptical’ explains, Professor Harry Prosen, a former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, has endorsed the significance of Jeremy Griffith’s treatise, saying “I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.” So while your scepticism is warranted given, the amazing fact is that they all withstand scrutiny. A person can begin reading the explanation and the more they read into it the more they will realise the claims are actually true, and in time become appreciated for their forthright honesty in indicating where the solution to our problems lies.

Colleen Jeffries

My mother instilled some of this wonderful instinct that humans just needed time and Love to realize how good they really are, she taught me how to be loving and compassionate even when someone hurt me forgive them that’s truly love. Thank you for this great truth!

Jean

Too much to take in first time, will listen again which means I want to understand, to learn as the world in 2022 is in a mess through greed.

WTM Admin

Yes, Jean, there is a lot to digest so re-watching THE Interview, and then watching the video series that follows it, is exactly what we recommend. THE Interview’s transcript is also freely available on our homepage HumanCondition.com, where you will also see the perfect guide to pursue your interest.

This seriously opened my eyes to what’s actually been going on for the past thousands of years. Please contact me if you’d like animations of the stalks done in an updated way

WTM Admin

Thanks for your comment, Josh. The more you digest this understanding, we suggest the more you will see how it brings profound peace to your and everyone’s situation. What is so important about Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition is that it finally explains the real reason for why humans’ selfish, competitive and destructive behaviour became an unavoidable, indeed necessary, part of human life. And with our goodness biologically established, we no longer need to be preoccupied with proving our worth. Solving the human condition solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at its source so we can actually stop the angry destruction of ourselves and the planet and save the world. You may be interested in FAQ 1.34, in which the highly respected psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, wrote: “the beauty of Griffith’s treatise is that the healing starts at the macro level of the universal human condition; the healing of the shame and blame that the whole human race has suffered from...It brings the greater context and love to all human psychosis and suffering, and then, from under the umbrella of that safe position, everyone can gradually work inwards to their particular experience of all the imperfections in human life that have now, finally, been made sense of.”

Valerio Cantori

The premises are interesting, however the conclusion sounds to me over-simplistic.

WTM Admin

Great to have your interest Valerio and we suggest, the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you realise the conclusion isn’t overly simplistic. As Part 4, titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’ explains it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses importantly we can be immediately free of its effects. Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world. How this healing is immediately open to us all is summarised in FAQ 1.5 and FAQ 1.40 about ‘How can you hope to transform the world?

Rasheedah Zarinah Washington

Money was an idea. Like so many other things. Money was implemented to organize and control. For power, etc. Look at the world today. Different currencies all around the globe. Things are becoming more and more digitalized, etc. Cryptocurrency... Money is a great tool. Yet, the love and lack of it is the root of all kinds of evil. No one is black or white. It’s a false narrative. We are spiritual “hue” human beings. We have melanin. Some more than others. The issue that dwarfs all other issues is the control of the conscious and subconscious mind of the masses, etc. I am writing a book about my life and a whole bunch of different topics and issues of life. I appreciate everyone who is trying their best to live, uprightly, and help other human beings in the right way. We can learn from each other.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes Rasheedah. At last we can understand that the human condition is behind all our behaviours, including our need for money and power and our lack of love and disharmony. These are all symptoms of our insecure, human condition afflicted state and it follows that if you address that underlying insecurity, then these symptoms will be removed. And that is what this explanation does – it addresses and solves that core insecurity about our self-worth. In fact, this redeeming, uplifting and healing explanation of the human condition is SO liberating and SO exciting that it won’t be long be everyone realises that it is completely pointless to keep trying to compensate for their insecurity through the pursuit of power, fortune and glory. You might be interested in FAQ 1.40 about ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful?’. It explains that “Even those who were most committed to defensively seeking validation through gaining power and material goods, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level.”

jeff feltus

now we have to right answers, because we have the right questions to ask. now it must be delivered to our leadership and cultures. perhaps thats why it may take a generational change. i see godly evidence here. brilliant.

WTM Admin

Thanks very much Jeff, it’s wonderful to have your interest and recognition of the importance of these world-saving answers. While this necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish as the selflessness it liberates in people will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet, including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can (see FAQ 1.5). As Jeremy Griffith explains in chapter 9.9 of his book FREEDOM: “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will, as has been stated, have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire.’” And this momentum is building; apart from the ecstatic responses, our homepage shows the rapidly growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world! Also, every day more people join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith to share in this transforming knowledge so we hope you do too!

Michael Howard Grant

It’s what Christianity is all about

WTM Admin

Hi Michael, yes but while Christianity and other religions contain all manner of truths about human life they are coming from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents.

Christopher McEvilly

An incredibly enlightening view of our humanity and why we tick as we do. I so hope this knowledge is passed on in schooling in the future. We hope for light and this shines brightly for the future xx

Kenneth Tombs

Hi. With a few interested people we watched your interview and discussed as we went along. Australia has done some interesting things in the world of psychology, so worth a look. Being strictly accurate its Genes, with Synapses doing the thinking bit, though would go along with those facts. Close of video 4 had good broad points, otherwise for us the journey between was a mix of pseudo science, religion and re-framing of ideas. If only a single story could change the modern world! I applaud anyone who investigates and pursues happier and more contented ways of living, good luck with that. We have the social capacity to solve our social problems tomorrow. Sadly our political and business leaders are too entwined in so called mutual-self-interest for that to happen. Perhaps not as appreciative as you would hope for, just honest feedback.

WTM Admin

It is wonderful you and others watched THE Interview together, which is an excellent idea, and thank you for your feedback. Regarding nerves and genes and which is responsible for thinking, you should be interested in FAQ 1.41 ‘What are instincts and what is consciousness, and how do they differ?’, a part of which is the following passage: “In the case of consciousness, there is one aspect of nerves’ ability to control how animals react to their environment that has the potential to give rise to consciousness—and this is an aspect that is largely independent of any instinctive orientations of an animal’s nervous system that have developed through natural selection. This aspect of the nervous system that gave rise to the potential to develop a conscious understanding of cause and effect is nerves’ ability to store impressions—what we refer to as ‘memory’.”     This understanding does represent a paradigm shift in our understanding the human condition, which is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ and is therefore the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained, see FAQ 1.15. We suggest the more you digest it, the more you will realise just how rational and accountable it is; the truth is there is absolutely no pseudo-science involved in Jeremy Griffith’s treatise. There are no outlandish or ridiculous concepts involved, and no quasi, pseudo science involved, and no leaps of logic as the outstanding commendations his work has received from extremely eminent scientists and thinkers attest (see here on our homepage).     With regard to your claim that we have the social capacity to solve our problems tomorrow, but that our leaders are too self involved for that to happen, what is explained in THE Interview is the reason why we are so self interested that those social changes don’t happen. And through explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, allowing us at last to make the changes the world so desperately needs.     Finally, we would just make the point that now we can understand the human condition, we can see that everyone has suffered from it – all our institutions, including our political and commercial systems, have simply been a manifestation of the insecure, psychologically upset condition that we all suffer from. Only solving the human condition can stop the destruction of our world that is happening everywhere we look, see FAQ 1.6.

I’m currently reading “How to disagree” by Ian Leslie. If you are an out of the box thinker, you may find this interesting. Think genes/intellect/nurture/difference. Lets all disagree and enjoy the experience. “Not all women are good mothers”.... begin.

WTM Admin

We suggest you need to look deeper Bernadette because, as THE Interview explains, the essential question of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition is paramount – and just learning to manage our differences or conflicts is not a solution. The issue of our apparently non-ideal human condition desperately needs to be confronted and answered – why are we all so selfish and insecure about our self-worth; that is the ultimate out-of-the-box thinking. This is what Jeremy Griffith has done and is what is unique about his work. He has answered the age-old question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish, so much so that we are destroying ourselves and our world. See FAQ 1.6 ‘Why understanding the human condition solves everything’.     With regard to nurturing, we can now understand it has been humanity’s necessary preoccupation with finding knowledge that has compromised our ability to nurture and now that preoccupation ends we can safely acknowledge the absolute importance of nurturing in the development of children – see chapter 8:16C of Jeremy’s book FREEDOM on ‘The dire consequences of terminal levels of alienation destroying our ability to nurture our children’. So that is an example of how our ability to heal depended on having this core mystery of our contradictory behaviour biologically understood.

Not very optimistic about state of affairs

WTM Admin

Yes, the current state of the world does not engender optimism. As Professor Harry Prosen has said, ‘the fastest growing realization everywhere is that humanity can’t go on the way it is going. Indeed, the great fear is we’re entering endgame where we appear to have lost the race between self-destruction and self-understanding.’ However, with Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition we now have that urgently needed self-understanding. And while this necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation has a fast finish as the selflessness it liberates in people will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet, including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can (see FAQ 1.5)! Basically, so exciting and relieving is this breakthrough, and the freedom from the human condition that is now on offer, that everyone will want it, and so it will catch on like wildfire and this is already happening. Just read the ecstatic responses THE Interview is receiving on our homepage and scroll down to see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world! Also FAQ 1.40 is most helpful as it answers the question ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’.

Reason for the human condition is SIN .

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s treatise reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts such as sin and judgment day etc. In fact what people discover is it is the fulfilment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’ and FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’.

WTM Admin

Certainly there has been a recognition in literature (and by profound thinkers generally) that there must be something better than our current human condition afflicted state and that someone had to be prepared to stand apart from the crowd in order to find it. However, many people have deluded themselves that this ‘liberated’ state could be achieved through people artificially restraining, sublimating or even transcending their upset, corrupted condition. But the truth is that this state could only be achieved by confronting, truthfully thinking about, and finally explaining and thus solving the human condition at its source, which is what Jeremy Griffith has done. In the end it was only getting to the bottom of it all, not transcendence, that could fulfil Richard Bach’s allegorical quest for perfection.

Stating that “science is the savior of the world” in revealing the simple and natural conflict which began when mankind obtained a nervous system capable of self awareness and so naturally began the internal conflicts known to the human condition does not explain the place of God and his atoning son Jesus Christ. Not recognizing our godly heritage we will continue to look to ourselves and not to the refining proc sses for self correction (faith, remorse for errors made, repentance) by understanding the need to consciously choose to accept our divine heritage and seek to emulate our true Savior. The spiritual component in the explanation is not being considered in the explanations offered.

WTM Admin

We certainly respect people’s religious views, but feel it is important to mention that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. Although this is science, it is based on a Godly nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained in as being the integrative meaning of life. We suggest that the more you digest this explanation, the more you will see that it does not rob life or explanations of life of its ‘spiritual’ dimension. We thought you might find our FAQs about religion of interest, in particular FAQ 6.7 ‘How can a scientific explanation ever hope to account for and encompass the great ‘spiritual’ dimension we know exists in life? / Isn’t ‘spirituality’ beyond a purely rational explanation?’

Jane

I appreciate the end goal of achieving healing understanding but what about the Cambridge declaration of consciousness? Mammals, birds and other animals are also conscious, not just humans

WTM Admin

Hi Jane, explanation of the human condition does produce a huge paradigm shift in our thinking, which does takes time to digest so we encourage you to keep listening to THE Interview. Regarding your reference to the Cambridge declaration of consciousness, which is that a significant amount of animals, including not just vertebrates but also many invertebrates, are conscious beings, it is important to note their ‘definition’ of consciousness, which is that they are sentient, that is, they experience what happens to them and have mental states which can be positive or negative for them. We suggest that one of the great outstanding mysteries of science is what is consciousness, and what Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview is that rather than referring to ‘sentience’, consciousness actually means being sufficiently aware or ‘conscious’ of how experiences are related to attempt to manage change from a basis of understanding. Clearly while other animals have various levels of ‘awareness’ or ‘sentience’, none can consciously manage events like humans can, and so it is accurate to describe humans as the only animals possessing fully conscious minds. It is also worth noting that Jeremy explains that developing consciousness depended on overcoming the competitive, selfish ‘animal condition’ and becoming orientated to selflessness, so if a species is still preoccupied with selfish, competitive dominance, as other animals are, they can’t become fully conscious. We recommend our FAQ 5.4 titled ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’

Rosa Casado

Thank you for such a brilliant explanation, which motivates a more optimistic glance into a more positive future.
