The connection Jeremy was able to draw between our instinctive gene and our conscious understanding has been ground breaking in coming to terms with our human condition. The notion that we became a sinner, in the biblical sense, for exploring our consciousness so that we could clearly understand the cause and effect of our behaviour amounted to senselessness. Now I know we are not a flawed species but rather a beautiful nurtured being with the capacity to grow in understanding.

WTM Admin

Yes Samuel, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race and allows us to forgive ourselves and others and finally end our psychologically troubled human condition—it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough.

Jacqualine B.

The synchronicities that lead me here is profound. Only took me 40 years around the mountain, exploring religion and spirituality to find you. I’ve always said that once science catches up, there may lay the answers humanity has been seeking. Thank Jeremy for your hard work and dedication.

Chris Magafas

Well it is 02:30 here in Greece and I just finished watching the interview. There are no coincidence’s in life. Wow!

WTM Admin

Hi Chris, thank you for your very appreciative response to THE Interview and for staying up until 2.30am to watch it!! We wanted to let you know, should it be helpful, that on our Translations page you can find a Greek translation of Transform Your Life and Save The World (Μεταμορφωστε τη ζωη σας και σωστε τον κοσμο), and we are working on more of Jeremy’s publications. We also encourage you to join our Facebook Community Group, where over 40,000 members from all over the world are discussing the life-transforming impact of this critical new science.

This is an advance for biology, maybe sociobiology will take note. Man is not just another animal who happens to be self-conscious. However, there are some errors here, intelligence and ego are not the same. Why is there a reluctance to acknowledge intelligence? The human mind has three modes, intelligence (full emergence in man), ego, and sense mind which coordinates the senses. Curbing them or letting them run riot is the role of the ego between the polarities of intelligence and sense consciousness. Religion, even pagan religion, has known this for aeons.

Ken Millard

Have you ever read the the boook of the Bible? Would appreciate an answer!

WTM Admin

Hi Ken, Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. In terms of Christianity and Christ, Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from that pre-science view, and he has written about Christ’s life and its phenomenal importance in humanity’s journey in Freedom Essay 39. Our FAQs about religion are also helpful.

Absolutely so enlightening...

Linda Lyford

Absolutely so enlightening! And resonates totally with me. I will be listening again and to other material🙏❤️

Greg

This is a very interesting and informative interview. I do have a question that I would love have answered. In a world cured of “the human condition,” would there be no envy or greed? I have a hard time imagining such a world.

WTM Admin

Hi Greg. Jeremy Griffith writes about what the new human-condition-resolved world will be like in chapter 9:9 of FREEDOM titled ‘How the Transformed Way of Living will quickly repair the world’. It is all clearly described there, where he refers to Australia’s greatest educator Sir James Darling, his headmaster at Geelong Grammar School, talking about humanity’s great ‘change of heart’. Jeremy writes, “while it will take time, in fact, a few generations, for humans to sufficiently absorb the understanding of the human condition to the degree needed for our underlying insecurity to be fully ameliorated—and thus the need for some artificial reinforcement from materialism, and some artificial relief through escapism, self-distraction and sexual adventure, etc, etc, to completely disappear—once you adopt the Transformed State, while you haven’t eliminated the insecure state of the human condition within yourself, you have completely changed your mind’s focus from living an ego-embattled, selfish life to living selflessly; you have had the ‘change of heart’, the fundamental change of direction, that is so urgently needed to fix the world.”

Annette Buse

I liked it. I found it to be interesting.

jolene edwards

This explains the issue in a manner that makes it understandable by most people.

Patricia Carey

This is so interesting to me. Human conditioning by our environment and those within that environment has always been fascinating. I enjoy understanding the psychological aspects of how we interact.

WTM Admin

We’re very happy THE Interview caught your interest, Patricia, as it is the ideal introduction to Jeremy Griffith’s work. As an example of the explanatory power of this knowledge you might like to read our FAQ 1.6 which explains, all the problems we’re experiencing on this planet, aside from natural phenomenon, are caused by us humans and it’s that underlying issue — our destructively behaved, so-called human condition — that really has to be addressed and fixed if we are to find a peaceful solution and this is precisely what Jeremy has delivered with his first principle-based biological understanding of the human condition!     Also, if you go to the top of our homepage — HumanCondition.com — you’ll find a guide to pursue your interest, including registering for our free, live events with Jeremy Griffith and others — and joining our popular Facebook Group, as we think you will find the discussions happening there about this life-changing understanding fascinating.

Andrew

Like all science, the only way is testing. Apply the concepts to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. From Ukraines point of view what do they do? Say Russia I love you, I no longer seeks revenge or security, just take over?

WTM Admin

All human aggression and anger, in our individual lives right through to international conflicts, is ultimately an expression of our psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated human condition. We suggest that as you digest Jeremy Griffith’s understanding of the human condition presented in THE Interview, you will see that the only way we could end destructive behaviour, and legitimately return to the cooperative and loving state humanity once lived in and we all long for, was through removing the insecurity that was driving that divisive behaviour, which is what Jeremy’s explanation makes possible. Obviously there will be situations where short term pragmatic decisions have to be made, but understanding the human condition puts everyone in a far better position to make good decisions compared to when we were all being driven by insecurity over our self-worth. For a deeper analysis of the Ukraine crisis (and the wider assault on Western civilisation), we recommend our FAQ 7.6. You may also be interested in FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’ and FAQ 1.40 ‘How can you hope to transform the world? / Won’t the greedy and power hungry simply ignore this?’

P.Hayes

The BONOBO are teachers of love, pure love, the essence of love. Great teachings. We humans have so much to learn from them. Yet so simple in reality.

WTM Admin

What is so significant about Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is that it defends our so-called ‘dark side’ and explains that despite all appearances to the contrary, all humans are ‘good’. And by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, allowing us to return to that loving state!

Margaret

Very interesting

Jackie Grant

Okay how do we incorporate our Christian belief into this mind blowing explanation of the human condition. Because I get it! In my life I feel the Heavenly father next and through me how do we can explain that!

WTM Admin

Thank you for your wonderful feedback Jackie. The first piece of advice is to take your time! This represents a massive paradigm shift in our thinking, but what people discover is Jeremy Griffith’s work actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. In fact it presents the fulfillment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’ and FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’. It represents the end of faith and dogma and the beginning of knowing.

Elisabeth Gruber

Origin of Conciousness and the breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes provides some of the foundational work that supports this new breakthrough!

WTM Admin

Great to have your interest Larry and psychologist Julian Jaynes certainly did identify the elements of instinct and intellect involved in creating the human condition. As you say Jeremy Griffith’s work presents a new breakthrough and that is because it finally provides the clarifying explanation of the nature of the conflict between these two elements, and without that explanation the conflict could not be resolved, see FAQ 1.13. You may also like to read Jeremy’s Freedom Essay 53 as it discusses Julian Jaynes, and other great thinkers, whose work evidences the elements of instinct and intellect produced our condition.

Antonio Pareja

Thank you for this interview, we need more like this, to understand this duality that seems that is struggling to live in a balance state of mind and a more spiritual conciousness and evolution

WTM Admin

Yes, Jeremy Griffith’s work at last reconciles the duality of our instinct and intellect that causes our unbalanced or upset state of mind and, as Part 2 of THE Interview stresses, finding this answer actually reconciles all the polarities of human life. To quote Jeremy’s book FREEDOM chapter 4: “Yes, the instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition makes sense of and reconciles all the unresolved manifestations of the polarities of the human situation—‘good’ vs ‘evil’, idealism or ‘God’ vs human’s non-ideal existence, religion vs science, holism vs mechanism, altruism vs egotism, communism vs capitalism, conscience vs conscious, and so on—thus ameliorating or healing, and finally ending, the psychologically upset, divisive way we have been living!”

Nozar Mossadeghi

The psychological disturbance which you explain as being due to friction between instinct and conscience seems to me to be as much to do with a subconcious Fear which is created in our minds before the development of our Critical Faculty and ability to discern the qualities of that fear. Being rational we are finding reasons for the fear and this leads us into all sorts of trouble.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your response Nozar. Since what Jeremy Griffith is presenting is a huge paradigm shift in how we’ve thought about humans, it does take time to digest. For example, what is suggested is that there was a clash between our instincts and emerging conscious mind, not ‘instinct and conscience’ – in fact, we can now explain that our instincts are totally loving and cooperative, the voice of which is our conscience, and so did not harbour any pre-consciousness primal fear. No, we suggest what becomes clear as you start to digest this understanding is that our underlying fear is a by-product of the clash between our instincts and intellect. As Jeremy explains in THE Interview, and its companion presentation The Great Guilt that causes the Deaf Effect which is dedicated to comprehensively explaining our fear of the human condition, this fear is a result of the shame and guilt we feel for having corrupted our all-loving and sensitive soul. You can watch or read The Great Guilt here on our website.

BLESSINGS!!

Hercodean Alcantara

Yes, I can completely agree with his explanation of the human condition.. Amazingly put together. I had thought deeply about the human condition in the past and this really sums it up magnificently well! Wonderfully put!

Deacon Martin

Great stuff. Loved it - even as a Leftie. Couple of questions: 1. What, in your view, triggered consciousness 2m years ago? 2. How did the bonobos manage to devote so much time to nurturing whilst chimps could not? 3. Our DNA is also shared with chimps. How can we be sure our genetic pool is sourced from bonobos rather than chimps? 4. And finally, my understanding is that psychosis stems from a malfunctioning amygdala (which allows us to empathise) and cannot be cured. My sense is that, throughout the world, maternal nurturing is currently being overwhelmed by psychotic nurturing among those who have acquired enormous wealth/power and largely through the collective vehicle which supports and rewards psychotic behaviour - the corporation. If we cannot expect malfunctioning “amygdelinquents” to relinquish the hold they have over us and our “democratic” institutions, how can we break that hold? Very best wishes, DM

WTM Admin

Thanks for your feedback and questions Deacon. We thought it worth mentioning even though THE Interview is a summary presentation it does provide references to more comprehensive material where answers to questions like you have asked are presented. Also, to assist enquirers we have an extensive FAQ facility which can be easily searched electronically at HumanCondition.com along with all our books and essays.     Re question 1: in Part 3 of THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains how we became fully conscious which developed as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process. He refers the viewer to chapter 7 of his definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation — a summary of which is in FAQ 5.4.     Re question 2: in Part 3 of THE Interview Jeremy refers the viewer to chapter 5 of FREEDOM, where it is explained that bonobos found themselves in the food-rich, relatively predator-and-competitor-free, ideal nursery conditions of the rainforests south of the Congo River.     Re question 3: with regard to bonobos representing a better model of our ancestors than chimpanzees, while it is true that humans share approximately 98.7% of our DNA with both chimpanzees and bonobos, the evidence reveals that on the basis of physiology, bipedality, environment, intelligence and reduced canine size, that the cooperative and gentle bonobo clearly represents a better model of our human ancestors than the chimpanzee (the evidence is presented in detail in chapter 5 of FREEDOM).     Re question 4: THE Interview explains our psychosis is caused by humanity’s heroic, but corrupting, search for knowledge and, most significantly, a psychosis can be healed with understanding. Certainly, this upset state has a profound impact on our ability to nurture, and therefore is compounded in each new generation through its effect on children, but fundamentally, our psychologically angry, egocentric and alienated state is a psychosis, and apart from a tiny proportion of people who are born with a biomechanical or chemical flaws in their brain, it can be healed with understanding. It is worth including highly respected psychiatrist Professor Prosen’s words about how powerful our psychology is in causing our behaviour. He wrote: “While we can expect instances of neurochemical/neurobiological based conditions, in my experience we can’t underestimate how much our psychology affects our biology. What Griffith is presenting is understanding of the source insecurity that the whole human race suffers from for having destroyed our species’ innocent soul. It is a universal self-blame that his understanding at last provides healing insight into. All human behavior is saturated with that universal insecure, depressing state and resulting anger, egocentricity and alienation that has developed from it, but we finally have the compassionate foundation insight needed to dismantle all that ‘upset’/ psychosis. So the real psychotherapy of our collective and individual psychoses can begin” (see FAQ 1.34 ‘How does this help with an individual’s depression and psychosis?’). So one of things Professor Prosen makes clear is that we all suffer from the human condition, not just those with wealth and power. We also suggest FAQ 1.40 which addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Monte Tito

Totally disagree with this socalled solution to the human problem going back to monkeys to find the solution?really don’t believe the solution is there

Oonagh Luke

If only we can circulate this information speedily, there is so much aggressive arrogant ignorance out there...How can this be taught to our children at school in a comprehensive way? How long will it take for humanity to accept and learn this? God speed.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your appreciative comment and yes the world desperately needs this understanding. Having this understanding taught in schools may appear a long way off but take heart, Luke, as every day more people are discovering it’s astonishing explanatory power! While this necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish as the selflessness it liberates in people will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can (see FAQ 1.5)! And so even though we haven’t yet reached the tipping point we are well on our way as you can see from the excitement and relief in our daily ecstatic responses to THE Interview! Also, on our homepage, you can see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for Jeremy Griffith’s work with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres opening all over the world!

Cheryl White

Very interesting, everyone should hear this

Abeba Baughman

We people need this info. To work together and understand each other

Nathan Bartholomew

Interesting, but completely flawed. As a Christian who understands why we were created by God, and put here on this earth, I have the biblical advantage to understand the spiritual aspect of our lives.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Nathan. We maintain that explanation of the clash between our instincts and intellect is key to understanding humans spirituality, but we greatly appreciate your consideration of Jeremy Griffith’s work and certainly respect people’s religious views. It is important to mention for readers of these comments that Jeremy’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity, or the Bible’s content. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does understanding of the human condition undermine a faith in religion or God?’. Also in terms of understanding our spiritual aspect see FAQ 6.7 ‘How can a scientific explanation ever hope to account for and encompass the great ‘spiritual’ dimension we know exists in life? / Isn’t ‘spirituality’ beyond a purely rational explanation?’

Ken

Wow

Steve Mohammed

Terrific and candid knowledgeable and welcoming to note.

Julia Connor

Wonderful explanation. But Spiritual Enlightenment has explained this long ago. A lot of people still want to use it as an excuse for their behavior. But, I’m sure it helps the people who have evolutionary thinking. I’m thankful that this explanation is available to all people. It should help our society.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your encouragement Julia. Great wisdom can be found in some spiritual teaching, but ultimately our thinking mind needed understanding—specifically, scientific understanding of why when the ideals are to be loving and selfless are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith’s treatise does and why it is heralded as the breakthrough that can save the world. We recommend FAQ 6.5, which explains the difference between Jeremy’s explanation and new age spirituality, and FAQ 1.13, which explains the originality of his work.

Michael O'Neal

I have for years used this basic premise to help alcoholics relearn how to drink normally. Very interesting.

WTM Admin

Great to have your interest Michael and congratulations on the wonderful work you are doing. Despite our competitive and selfish behaviour, we humans have always intuitively believed we were fundamentally good, but we have never been able to explain this contradictory, conflicted condition. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why we are fundamentally good—answer the age-old question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here. In summary, the eternal battle for humans has been to validate ourselves, establish once and for all that we are fundamentally good and not bad, and it’s that deepest and most important of all battles that has finally been won. Solving the human condition solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at its source, see FAQ 1.5 ‘Why is this important to my life’.

it is so an advantage to understand such informations

This is absolutely awesome!

Very enlightening, good to hear about some positive information that may extend the existence of the latest inhabitants of this ‘beautiful’ planet'(namely us !).👍

arie lף

It is very pretentious and also simplistic to think that logic or understanding can resolve the gap between inside and outside, between the distant and the near, the unique and the general. The truth is that there is no need to solve this gap at all, since it itself allows for life, magnetic forces, electron movement, or gravitational forces. The solution does not lie in a logical understanding but in connection to the self and therefore also to the whole as a fabric. It is not an intellectual move but a connection of the heart. Awareness is only a very small part of being, the reflective part.

Ilan

Very inspiring

Dianne Hensley

I didn’t understand any of this....

Evon Kurtz

Don’t feel bad. Most of the general population won’t understand this. Especially majority of the younger generations. Public schools don’t teach this nor have they for it feels like eons. I think if you get the authors ‘s book and read thru it multiple times and research their references contained, you may most likely come to understand it. I have been exposed to much in my life that has given me the ability to understand the content. I don’t have a bachelors or masters nor PhD but I definitely get this.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your thoughts Evon. We suggest you also watch The Great Guilt because, as we mention to Dianne above, it explains the reason why people can initially find this new science difficult to access. Also you may find FAQ 1.14 ‘Why aren’t these ideas mainstream?’ worth reading.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your candour Dianne. THE Interview explains, the human condition is the most fearful of subjects because it’s the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad and our fear of this interface can make it hard to understand all that is explained in one viewing (FAQ 1.16 explains this initial ‘deaf effect’). We suggest you watch the new companion presentation to THE Interview titled The Great Guilt that causes the Deaf Effect (here on our website) as it provides astonishing clarification of why lifting The Great Burden Of Guilt from the human race causes most people to initially experience such difficulty. We hope you persevere Dianne because if you watch The Great Guilt it includes examples of people overcoming the deaf effect and shows why being patient through this obstacle is well worth the time!

A most compelling scientific argument for a matrilineal perspective long held by aboriginal people globally. This crosses into every aspect of life as it is a in depth look into our complex origin and possible future trajectory. In a modern age of AI it is most imperative that a united cooperative society absorbs this deep level of reflection.

Eyal friedman

Profound insights.

Mr David Bowker

Beautiful interview, thank you.

Aurelita

Thank you so much professor this is really mind blowing.

Sam

It only took me 20 minutes to realise that my mind had not been blown. Instead it was gently cosseted into subservience. What are you actually proposing?

WTM Admin

Being rational creatures, we respond to logical, accountable information, which is what is presented in THE Interview, which is why your mind is responding the way it is. However talking about the human condition has been off-limits, so you will find it hard to take in initially (you can learn more about this ‘deaf effect’ in Jeremy’s presentation, The Great Guilt). In a nutshell, what is being explained is that when we humans developed a conscious mind some 2 million years ago, a battle unavoidably developed between it and our already established instincts. The result of this conflict between our instinct and intellect was that we became psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric—the upset state we refer to as the human condition. But now that we can explain and understand this conflict, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition.     We suggest you listen to THE Interview again, and you will find it very quickly becomes clear.

Tomasz

I’m glad I found you. Thank you from the heart. Tomas Petrus

No more B.S., my attitude is changed, great , I am not upset with my self any more, just want my human condition to be free of guilt and full of love. Thank you , you are a wise and good human.

Amazing interview

Tim Krusemark

There is definitely some truth in these writings but, denying God and Jesus has me not wanting to continue reading. Jesus was not “an un-resigned” guy that was just unconditionally loved by his metaphorically “virgin” mother. Denying his miracles and belittling God by labeling him as your ideal self awareness (sorry, I forgot your term) is a no go for this follower of Christ and the one true God who says to love all, forgive all and not be “of this world” [like the people in the world that don’t know him and are selfish] but share and help others.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Tim. We certainly respect people’s religious views however we felt it was important to mention that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict the Bible. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. The real issue is if people prefer a more literal fundamentalist interpretation of scripture rather than our more biological, science-based interpretation.     For those interested in exploring this further we suggest FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’. FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’. Also Jeremy’s Freedom Essays 38 – 41, which decipher religion, are absolutely fascinating.

Paul

Awesome!

Steve Quartermaine

Thank you for this. Great share. Need time to digest this.

WTM Admin

Great to have your interest, Steve. Yes, explanation of the human condition does produce a huge paradigm shift in our thinking, so this critical new science does take time to digest so we recommend people re-watch THE Interview and also explore our homepage which provides all our key material to consider.

Alois Kafer

So can you please tell me if the human condition has been solved how come many of the world, s nations are still fighting against each other

WTM Admin

While this biological understanding of the human condition really is the universal solution to all the problems we face, it does have a slow start-up phase. It will take some time to break through fixed patterns of thought, as well as the bastions of power in the world, but once this information gets a foothold through enough people developing a deep appreciation and desire to support it, the selfless love and energy that will generated will solve our problems very quickly because instead of being preoccupied with seeking power, all our energies will be freed to truly work together and focus on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering in all the corners of the world. The essential point is that all the dysfunction and destruction in the world, including war, is a reflection of the conflict within us. What is so important about what Jeremy Griffith presents with the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition, is that it actually solves that discord by reconciling instinct and intellect. By explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts (which is that genes can orientate but nerves need to understand) means all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation), are now redundant. You might be interested in reading more in FAQ 1.6: ‘Why this solves everything’.

OttoPaul Ulberg

It just make so much sense and I believed it is the answer to the whole world’s problems. The human condition by Jeremy Griffith is the way for a much better world and I thank you so much Jeremy for sharing your wisdom and knowledge to the world, like you mentioned it won’t happen overnight but it will happen 🙏❤️🙏💖✌️💕😊

Patti B

Very interesting and gives a wonderful explanation to start deeply thinking and learning about the human condition. I’ve always thought about this subject and always asking myself Why? Thank you

Helen Atkins

What an inspiring conversation. At last some incredible insights into human behaviour. Hope its not too late. Thank you both so much

WTM Admin

Thank you very much for your appreciative comment, Helen. We also encourage you to join our Facebook Group, which is a wonderful platform for participating in interesting and exciting discussion with others about how we can live with this critical new science.

Dino

Since a little boy I thought human’s biggest problem was the developed cortex we have but still maintaining our strong original instincts which the cortex didn’t mediate with. This interview confirms and clearly explains it all. Thank you immensely Jeremy. You’re a great human being. I’d love to meet you one day

Andrew Jason Lindsay

This is what we need

Marjorie A Wright

Wow this is very very interesting. Ty. I’m so glad I listened to this.

Dusanka Crnogorac

Very interesting, everybody must hear this, thank you

Jan

I’d be interested to know what caused Adam Stork to first break from his instinctual behaviour to follow a non-instinctual behaviour.

Hi Jan, as Jeremy explains in Part 1 of THE Interview, “If we think about it, if an animal was to become fully conscious, like we humans became, then that animal’s new self-managing, understanding-based conscious mind would surely have to challenge its pre-existing instinctive orientations to the world, wouldn’t it? A battle would have to break out between the emerging conscious mind that operates from a basis of understanding cause and effect and the non-understanding instincts that have always controlled and dictated how that animal behaves.”

Thank you 🙏🏻

Lee-Gayle

I found this extremely enlightening, thank you for all the research you have done and time dedicated towards solving such large questions, and being able to explain it to us all so simply. Some questions pop into my mind... Within the concept of good and evil, where does mischief lie? or people that enjoy being “naughty” but are not necessarily causing any harm to anyone else or any harm of significant effect? Good and bad are extremely subjective. Do you think this tendency stems from incorrect nurturing also? Or is the future a place where we embrace the duality of reality in regards to good and evil, or intellect and instinct, being full conscious, and learn how to navigate them both? I am not sure if this makes sense, but if it does I would like some insight haha

WTM Admin

Hi Lee-Gayle, it does all take some time to digest, so be patient. For example, living in denial of the human condition meant that it as invaluable to be able to ‘poke fun’ at our absurdity from time to time. See Freedom Essay 47. This is certainly the origin of some “mischief” or “naughtiness". Alternatively, there is a stage in children’s development known as the ‘naughty nines’, where the intellect naively lashes out at the increasing unjust criticism it is encountering as a result of its first tentative experiments in self-adjustment (see chapter 8:7 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM).     With regard to “Good and bad” being “extremely subjective”, we suggest that it is very clear that loving and cooperative behaviour is recognised as ‘good’, and divisive, selfish behaviour as ‘evil’. What is so significant about the explanation of the human condition is that rather than condemning humans as ‘evil’, this understanding explains that despite all appearances to the contrary, that apparently ‘evil’ behaviour has been ‘good’! We had to suffer self-corruption in order to continue the search for knowledge in order to one day find this redeeming understanding of ourselves. Finally, with this understanding, we no longer have to continue with our ‘evil’ behaviour in the future, because it was all born out of insecurity over our self-worth. Knowing why our intellect had to defy our instincts makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, allowing us to return to a loving, selfless state!

Been waiting for this all my life. I’ve always wonder why and now here it is. Thank you.

Corinne

It is very interesting but I say impatiently waiting for your esteem guest to mention God”s place in all of this. Are we being told that we are not of God?

Michael Todd

Hopefully this will help Veterans and others who have experienced trauma to help put those experiences in a very small place in their lives

Christina

I am happy to hear that there is hope and please to know that the message can be spread to our society where other humans can start a different journey in their quest of absolute happiness and enlightenment Thank you for educating us 🙏🏼

Les P.

Thank you so much for this interview. At last we have an answer, I have argued this with my brother and others for a long time that our natural condition is love and acceptance but didn’t realise why we are as we are. Your explanation make so much sense, I feel we are on the cusp of change now and this interview is will help push humanity on to our next phase Thank you again.

WTM Admin

Thanks Les, for your appreciative comment! Yes, what is so astonishing about Jeremy Griffith’s work is it provides the long-sought-after, biological answer to the riddle of human nature – why, when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless, we are so angry, competitive and selfish? Our FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 may be helpful as they talk about the rapidly transforming effects of this new, world-changing knowledge.

Cherie Kiss

I do resonate with all your information presented here in this interview

WTM Admin

Hi Cherie, thank you for your interest. A common reaction when people hear the explanation of the human condition for the first time, is that the explanation resonates with them — that despite our competitive and selfish behaviour, we have always intuitively believed we were fundamentally good, but we have never been able to explain this contradictory, conflicted condition. That is the great breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here. We encourage you to keep exploring our website; you’ll see at the top of the homepage — HumanCondition.com — that it states ‘WHAT NEXT after watching THE Interview?’ and guides you through the steps to pursue your interest. This includes registering for our free, live events with Jeremy Griffith and others and joining our popular Facebook Group.

Thora

This is the most interesting exciting and important interview I have ever had the privilege to hear. It makes perfect sense to me and is the first explanation that has made sense of our increasing anxiety about the world today Thank you so much for your efforts in bringing it to us.

Awesome

Mind blowing, incredibly logical and clear.

David Leviticus johnson

When does the human condition, manifest itself, I mean at birth, adolescence or an event in our lives which makes us question our conscious mind, our awareness, our choices, or rather the ability to choose! Thus the human condition, birth life, and death and all the experiences in between, whether we live in the dark ages or today I feel the human condition will always be defined singularly on an individual basis. Always debatable. David johnson

WTM Admin

Hi David, thank you for your comment. Jeremy Griffith explains in paragraph 1049 of FREEDOM, that “Even [though] the upset [within humans] that is now instinctive, in our genes” it manifests individually around the time of adolescence when young people start facing and wrestling deeply with the issue of not only the imperfection of the non-ideal human-condition-stricken world around us, but also of the imperfection of our own behaviour — that they too suffer from anger, selfishness, meanness and indifference to others. But having no understanding of the human condition, and thus no answer to this confronting self-realisation, meant that the more we each grappled with the issue as adolescents, the more depressing our thinking became until we realised that we had no choice but to ‘resign’ to living in denial of it. As Jeremy explains in Part 2 of THE Interview, “we’ve had to live in denial of our corrupted, psychologically upset condition while we couldn’t explain it”. Please read more on this most significant psychological event in human life that is not spoken of in Freedom Essay 30, titled ‘Resignation’.

Peter

Ok up to the dismissing comments of the left and socialism and I believe these comments to have been unnecessarily dismissive, divisive and served to undermine the theory being espoused. May be this was because it was not fully explained for me. Having said that it’s certainly food for thought.

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s work opens up a new way of thinking so it takes a little time to fully absorb this new paradigm – and our human condition does present the ultimate paradox! The biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work identifies that the problem of the right-wing is its destructiveness, however, through its support of egocentricity and selfishness, it does encourage the search for knowledge to continue. However the left wing’s insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing and thus regressing, not ‘progressing’, the all-important search for knowledge. Most importantly, this understanding brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Lon Hudson

Very interesting theory. It needs more development and study.

Crystal

Very Interesting 🤔 Sounds Good 😊

John Rivers

I found nothing on interest in this. A lot of bits and pieces of thought strung together without any new insight. Why do we need to explain ourselves?

WTM Admin

What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race. It establishes that we humans are good and not bad after all. With this understanding we can finally end our psychologically troubled human condition — it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough.

My mind has been waiting for this change for a while but I thought it had to be accomplished by controlling testerone in men. I like this solution better.

WTM Admin

Yes! As is explained in THE Interview, the reason that men are currently selfish and aggressive is not selfish instincts or testosterone, but a state of psychological upset resulting from the instinct vs intellect clash. And by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant, they can stop!

W.H. Gough

Give up. No doubt he world is unfolding as it should. We get our morality from our overwhelming instinct to survive as a human race. To love and protect our children, (from evolution) we have to be good to each other for our species to survive. We are not like a chimpanzee violent, vicious, envy driven, we are scientist, we use our brain that make us better than, survival-of-the-fittest. We haven’t got to be in conflict to be successful men and women, we can be competent at harmonizing together; which we do more and more. I’m optimistic for the human race.

WTM Admin

The idea that our morality and loving instincts are for survival is really just a variant of the idea that our competitive behaviour is genetic – you might be interested in chapter 2.11 of FREEDOM where so-called ‘multi-level selection’ is debunked. In this interview Jeremy Griffith explains the key biological distinction between humans and other animal species is that humans suffer from the conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition, not the genetic-opportunism-based, animal condition. So humans behaviour isn’t driven by survival instincts. It is driven by a psychosis that was caused by the clash between their instinct and intellect and, significantly, a psychosis IS changeable as it can be healed through understanding. And this transformation is happening so we don’t have to give up, as explained in FAQ 1.40 ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world?’

Espetacular, fantástico, simplesmente faz sentido para mim. É como se eu já soubesse! Eu sempre soube que as pessoas são boas e querem ser boas, mas não conseguem porque estão doentes! [Spectacular, fantastic, it just makes sense to me. It’s as if I already knew! I always knew that people are good and want to be good, but they can’t because they are sick! Love it

Food for thought. I will delve more into this subject, very interesting.

Martin

The moment he started to blame the "left wing thinkers and Karl Marx for having given us the wrong reasons for our behavour, I realised that this was red baseballcap BS

WTM Admin

Your comment is uninformed Martin. Jeremy Griffith doesn’t say that the left wing gave us ‘the wrong reasons for our behaviour’, but that the left wing’s philosophy of needing to impose ideal behaviour is based on a biologically incorrect understanding of human nature. Jeremy explains that while we couldn’t admit that our selfish, aggressive behaviour was psychological in origin we have had to come up with all sorts of theories to account for our good and evil stricken condition, and the idea that we are selfish because we have savage animals instincts is the main an excuse we have had to use until we had the real defence for our condition. The left wing uses this excuse as the basis of its political philosophy (although Marx went a step further and claimed that we have no real instinctive orientation – that we are a ‘blank slate’) of imposing ideal behaviour. And so in terms of politics, this explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. The right-wing supported the all-important search for knowledge, but it was corrupting; while the left’s insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing the search for knowledge. Most importantly, in explaining the human condition, Jeremy’s work brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Awesome. At last
