Yes Donna, the fundamental explanation is very simple but Jeremy Griffith’s work is about confronting and solving the human condition, and given our historic way of coping with the human condition has been to avoid it at all costs, Jeremy’s REAL path to our species’ returning to our natural loving way of living is a tough one to initiate. However humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish, because, as he explains in chapter 9 of his definitive book FREEDOM, once people start having the legitimate ‘change of heart’ that this information allows, the selflessness that it liberates will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can! For example, Jeremy writes in chapter 9:9, “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire—as the exceptional denial-free thinking prophet Teilhard de Chardin wrote, ‘The Truth has to only appear once…for it to be impossible for anything ever to prevent it from spreading universally and setting everything ablaze’” (par. 1236).

Yes, we have always been able to find our way back to our instinctive state through giving up the search for understanding; what Jeremy Griffith describes in his Adam Stork story as ‘flying back on course’. However, as Jeremy describes in FAQ 6.5, the truth is that ‘flying back on course’, or ‘pseudo idealism’, has been leading humanity away from the truth about ourselves. It was an irresponsibly escapist abandonment of the search for knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, understanding of the human condition. It was working against finding the relieving understanding of ourselves.

A great deal of our efforts to improve our human relationships are to a great extent wasted. A high proportion of adults are already steeped in their particular ways of being...One cannot change just one thing. Any attempt to change will be resisted by other well “already there”, established-dependent- related-and familiar variables. With so much more to change: “A principle of ”Least energy...Least action" kicks in. Change would be too disruptive in requiring so many other changes.
A more effective and efficient approach to improve our human relationships (although predictably, this would also be strongly resisted (Least energy resistance again), would be to work at changing our education systems--A many generational effort. And we have to keep the following in mind: While we are busy trying to change adults...new generations are constantly emerging...copying what they ‘see’ in the social-cultural environment...reinforcing cultural norms, and quite prepared to keep things going as usual. So while it would be much easier (less energy) to ‘educate’ young ones...Changing education systems will be strongly resisted. (After all: Education systems mainly operate to keep things going the usual ways...Not to introduce critical thinking students, to be a menace in the cultural-social environment. .
This is not to say there are no changes. There are...But these changes are mainly concerned to keep things going: No drastic change. Revolutions and rebellions usually change basic paradigms...and introduce new ones that do not completely extinctify the old ones. This usually happens based on this factor. ‘Changers’ energized to make changes, are in too much of a rush to pause and investigate basic and foundational factors contributing to the unsatisfying situation they want to improve.
Changes often just bring new rulers...not leaders.

One of the most enlightening video’s I’ve listened to in a long time. To think we have punished ourselves for do many years through the mis interpretation of the Bible and why we are who and where we are today. It is only by Scientific understanding of the very nature of our existence can we change our overall learning processes and learn from our nearest relatives who still to this day have never changed the way they bring and nurture their young right through to adulthood. Who’s right and who’s wrong...? It makes sense to me that we existed in fierce competition until we had better ideas of good and evil. I like the idea of false starts that did not really help...
I suppose that, for me, the best way this reduces itself is that Jesus probably knew what he was talking about all along concerning the human condition.
If this idea of yours gains traction, then these consistent judgments from Jesus regarding repentance and the forgiveness of sins might be the way forward:
Matthew 6:14-15 If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mark 11:25-26 When you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive you.
Luke 6:36-37 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.
John 20:21-23 Peace be with you. As the Father has taught me, even so I am teaching you.
Receive the Holy Spirit.
If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld (from you). (My interpretation).
Science and religion, it seems, might not be so far apart after all.
Well, my mind is blown and I am relieved at once. Probably take a while for it to become standard knowledge, but if I read Jesus correctly with his formulated imperatives of forgiveness, I think that you guys have hit a home run.

Jeremy Griffith is not unfairly focusing on the failings of the left wing and indeed, in his book FREEDOM he acknowledges the importance of compassion in holding a society together. This understanding opens up an new way of thinking about humans so it does take time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, and in particular, how it applies to politics. We recommend Jeremy Griffith’s latest book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage. It sets out clearly the biological reason for why left-wing ideology is so dangerous. It also summarises the whole history of pseudo idealism going back to when the upset state of the human condition first emerged some 2 million years ago. In it Jeremy emphasises that while it is easy to identify with the ideal of everyone being cooperative and loving, the whole objective of the human journey was, as is stressed in THE Interview, to find understanding of why humans have not been cooperative and loving and instead so divisively competitive and aggressive. That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained, and what is finally revealed with Jeremy’s biological explanation is that there has been an all-important, good reason for that divisive behaviour.
Our fundamental responsibility as conscious beings was to keep persevering with our corrupting search until we found this redeeming understanding of ourselves and, until then, there was no real way out of our psychologically upsetting situation. This point about our fundamental responsibility to search for knowledge, even though it was upsetting and corrupting, allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of the left and right wings of politics. Jeremy explains in Death by Dogma, the twin political problems we have are the brutality of the right-wing’s need to continue the corrupting search for knowledge free from too much condemning idealism, and the left-wing’s dishonest and deluded dogmatic imposition of pseudo-idealistic politically correct values. However, of these two, it was actually the corrupting right-wing that was leading humanity to this much-needed understanding and by so doing genuinely ending all the upset in the world. That is the final paradox of the human condition: through the right wing upholding the selfishness needed to persevere with the search for knowledge, we all now become left-wing (as it were, although the truth is that the whole ugly business of politics is now brought to a close).

Yes, THE Interview explains that the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! If you are referring to the book The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters (and its ‘inner chimp mind management’ model) there is no similarity between it and Jeremy Griffith’s work. Jeremy’s key insight is that our psychologically upset alienated and aggressive state is a result of a clash between our instincts and intellect. As THE Interview explains, prior to having this understanding we had to find some excuse for our aggressive behaviour, and so we said that it was due to savage ‘chimpanzee’-like instincts within us. The Chimp Paradox presents a variation of this excuse, which is that rational brain is in conflict with the limbic brain, which tries to impose to ‘chimp-like’ impulsive and selfish emotional states on our conscious mind. You might find FAQ 1.3 helpful as it gives a brief summary of Jeremy’s treatise.

Sounds simple but how do we as a world of billions of humans change in order to experience this loving way of living?
Yes Donna, the fundamental explanation is very simple but Jeremy Griffith’s work is about confronting and solving the human condition, and given our historic way of coping with the human condition has been to avoid it at all costs, Jeremy’s REAL path to our species’ returning to our natural loving way of living is a tough one to initiate. However humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish, because, as he explains in chapter 9 of his definitive book FREEDOM, once people start having the legitimate ‘change of heart’ that this information allows, the selflessness that it liberates will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can! For example, Jeremy writes in chapter 9:9, “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire—as the exceptional denial-free thinking prophet Teilhard de Chardin wrote, ‘The Truth has to only appear once…for it to be impossible for anything ever to prevent it from spreading universally and setting everything ablaze’” (par. 1236).

Yes, once people gain an appreciation for how all-clarifying, all-reconciling and all-liberating this knowledge is the transformation and healing is totally possible as you can see from the ecstatic responses at the top of our homepage! What is so challenging is breaking through the historic fear we understandably have to discussion of the human condition and also the resistance humans have to change (see Video/Freedom Essay 1 which follows THE Interview in our Main Videos). So, as with any new scientific breakthrough in history, it will take time to implement the change universally but once this information gets a foothold through enough people developing a deep appreciation and desire to support it our problems will be solved very quickly and the world will heal—see WTM FAQ 1.5 and our Transformation page. I am in dis agreement when u say that science is the Masia of human condition .If you only knew . Truely knew the power of your words . Was extremely skeptical. I was surprised to find it to be very thought stimulating and quite interesting. Made me reevaluate many of my beliefs. Look up and read about Bonobo primates and prepare for a surprise. We have a choice we can make that is not maladaptive.

Yes, we have always been able to find our way back to our instinctive state through giving up the search for understanding; what Jeremy Griffith describes in his Adam Stork story as ‘flying back on course’. However, as Jeremy describes in FAQ 6.5, the truth is that ‘flying back on course’, or ‘pseudo idealism’, has been leading humanity away from the truth about ourselves. It was an irresponsibly escapist abandonment of the search for knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, understanding of the human condition. It was working against finding the relieving understanding of ourselves.
There is a saying in a Catholic prayer ‘O neccessary sin of Adam’ the price we pay for growing ‘awareness’ ...

A great deal of our efforts to improve our human relationships are to a great extent wasted. A high proportion of adults are already steeped in their particular ways of being...One cannot change just one thing. Any attempt to change will be resisted by other well “already there”, established-dependent- related-and familiar variables. With so much more to change: “A principle of ”Least energy...Least action" kicks in. Change would be too disruptive in requiring so many other changes. A more effective and efficient approach to improve our human relationships (although predictably, this would also be strongly resisted (Least energy resistance again), would be to work at changing our education systems--A many generational effort. And we have to keep the following in mind: While we are busy trying to change adults...new generations are constantly emerging...copying what they ‘see’ in the social-cultural environment...reinforcing cultural norms, and quite prepared to keep things going as usual. So while it would be much easier (less energy) to ‘educate’ young ones...Changing education systems will be strongly resisted. (After all: Education systems mainly operate to keep things going the usual ways...Not to introduce critical thinking students, to be a menace in the cultural-social environment. . This is not to say there are no changes. There are...But these changes are mainly concerned to keep things going: No drastic change. Revolutions and rebellions usually change basic paradigms...and introduce new ones that do not completely extinctify the old ones. This usually happens based on this factor. ‘Changers’ energized to make changes, are in too much of a rush to pause and investigate basic and foundational factors contributing to the unsatisfying situation they want to improve. To think we have punished ourselves for do many years through the mis interpretation of the Bible and why we are who and where we are today. It is only by Scientific understanding of the very nature of our existence can we change our overall learning processes and learn from our nearest relatives who still to this day have never changed the way they bring and nurture their young right through to adulthood. We only need to see that we as humans have changed so much yet our animals have never changed! We all need to redefine our existence and go back to nature, loving kindness andvremove ourselves from greed, anger and selfishness and until then we must urge our lived one’s to follow the path of loving kindness and compassion for all.

Really helpful. I’m neither right or left, and have been standing aloof wondering what the fuss is about. But yes, I guess we all felt that something is dreadfully wrong with our thinking. Who’s right and who’s wrong...? It makes sense to me that we existed in fierce competition until we had better ideas of good and evil. I like the idea of false starts that did not really help... I suppose that, for me, the best way this reduces itself is that Jesus probably knew what he was talking about all along concerning the human condition. If this idea of yours gains traction, then these consistent judgments from Jesus regarding repentance and the forgiveness of sins might be the way forward: Matthew 6:14-15 If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:25-26 When you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive you. Luke 6:36-37 Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. John 20:21-23 Peace be with you. As the Father has taught me, even so I am teaching you. Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld (from you). (My interpretation). Science and religion, it seems, might not be so far apart after all. Well, my mind is blown and I am relieved at once. Probably take a while for it to become standard knowledge, but if I read Jesus correctly with his formulated imperatives of forgiveness, I think that you guys have hit a home run. Great stuff. The fundamental explanation is very simple but it does open up the historically off-limits subject of the human condition so it is common people initially struggle to ‘hear’ what is being explained, see FAQ 1.16. As THE Interview explains until we could understand our human condition—that is, understand why we humans are competitive, aggressive and selfish when our instincts are actually to be cooperative, loving and selfless—all we sensibly could do was practice almost total denial of it. Thankfully, with this now biologically explained, that denial can end and we can legitimately return to loving and harmonious world.

I am astonished and so very relieved. I graduated in 1975 in Philosophy and Psychology. In all these years I have never listened to such enlightened and constructive voice. It is truly remarkable. I despaired of the growing movement to ‘restrain and conceal’ as you so beautifully put it. I despaired at the abandonment of metaphysics, of the dismissal of consciousness and a lot more. I also, to be quite honest, found it more and more difficult to ‘reassure’ those in my care. You, through your invaluable insight have given me, and through me others, ways to promote self understanding. In particular, approaches such as ‘there is a good reason for my psychological upset’, ‘my behaviour has had to be defensive’, ‘yes, I am hurt and furious but I can, through understanding, put aside obsolete defensive, self destructive behaviours’, and many, many more progressive and positive healing centred ways forward. Yes, THE Interview explains that the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race. It establishes that we humans are good and not bad after all. With this understanding we can finally end our psychologically troubled human condition—it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough. Yes, understanding humanity has been the greatest mystery of all. But as FAQ 1.2 explains, unable to confront the human condition, science has been mechanistic and reductionist, and what’s more, has denied the existence of our psychologically troubled human condition, blaming our selfish behaviour on ‘savage instincts’ within us. The CHIMP within covered this concept to a degree....Well in my understanding it did...
If you are referring to the book The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters (and its ‘inner chimp mind management’ model) there is no similarity between it and Jeremy Griffith’s work. Jeremy’s key insight is that our psychologically upset alienated and aggressive state is a result of a clash between our instincts and intellect. As THE Interview explains, prior to having this understanding we had to find some excuse for our aggressive behaviour, and so we said that it was due to savage ‘chimpanzee’-like instincts within us. The Chimp Paradox presents a variation of this excuse, which is that rational brain is in conflict with the limbic brain, which tries to impose to ‘chimp-like’ impulsive and selfish emotional states on our conscious mind. You might find FAQ 1.3 helpful as it gives a brief summary of Jeremy’s treatise.
