Eager to hear the interview

Tony Hubert

Human brought change in the world, they have the responsibility more than any one to overcome if it’s a big threat or a backfire.

WTM Admin

Hi Tony, what is so significant about Jeremy Griffith’s treatise is it explains why humans had to bring “change in the world” and also that they have taken up the “responsibility” of doing so. THE Interview reveals that all humans are born with an all-loving, moral instincts but to champion our fully conscious mind we had to become psychologically upset and alienated from this original selfless state because of our mind’s necessary, and indeed heroic, search for knowledge. It is that defence of our ‘dark side’, through finding the good reason that we had to defy our instincts and “change the world”, that means all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant. We no longer need them because we have the real defense for why we had to defy our instincts. We hope you watch THE Interview and you might find this FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding the human condition solve everything’ helpful to read.

Amazing

Rander

Thanks for rediscovering the age old theory of mutual co existence and certainly it is solution for our current problems. Also congratulations for presenting it in a more scientific way and spreading the message. This idea has to compete with human endeavor if human selfishness is somehow controlled in mind.

WTM Admin

Hi Rander and thank you for your comment. It takes a bit of consideration and time to see how this critical new science stops our selfishness but because it addresses the core insecurity that has been driving it, it actually does. What biologist Jeremy Griffith explains is that our distant ancestors overcame the selfish genetic driven ‘animal condition’ and developed loving and cooperative instincts some 2 million years ago through the nurturing based love-indoctrination process, and it is this that distinguishes humans from other primates and animals. Until now how we acquired our moral sense, or cooperative instincts that enabled our “mutual co existence”, has been one of the great unanswered scientific questions. Primatologist Richard Wrangham described it as “A question that has lain unsolved at the core of biology ever since Darwin”, and Darwin himself described it as the “one special difficulty” with his concept of natural selection. (The science of the love-indoctrination process is introduced in Part 3 of THE Interview and fully presented in Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM chapter 5. For a summary see FAQ 5.2 ‘How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience?’.) This biological distinction—that humans suffer from the conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition, not the genetic-opportunism-based, animal condition—is key because, as Part 4 explains, a psychosis can be healed with understanding. So our psychologically upset human nature is fixable or changeable—not unchangeable, which is what it would essentially be if our selfishness was instinctive; if it was something that is in our genes and we were born with. There is no “control” needed because with our source insecurity understood all our selfish behaviour (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) becomes redundant which is explained in this fascinating FAQ 1.40 ‘Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Exceptional & Utterly brilliant explanation of the miserable condition that modernity has thrust on Humans

Di-Anne Johnston

This helps me understand my own views and feelings that have often alienated me from my fellow humans. And caused me a lot of distress from this alienation. So I guess I was just ahead of my time. Thankyou.

WTM Admin

Hi Di-Anne and thank you for your comment. Being able to at last explain the human condition does make sense of our lives no matter whether we’ve tried to hold onto the ideals or decided to deny them and either way was alienating one way or another. Thank goodness Jeremy Griffith has brought first principle science to what we have intuitively known but haven’t been able to explain as now we can it reconciles all our positions and ends our estrangement from our true selves and each other. It couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough which FAQ 1.5 ‘Why is this understanding the human condition important to my life’ summarises! Also you may find FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new’ of interest .

Ron Duniam

Inspiring. It gives me some hope that the people with power in our society around the world might just watch this and understand how to change our world for the better

WTM Admin

Hi Ron, yes as Terri says below, this understanding brings new hope to all our lives! We can now understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness, so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world and yes that includes those in power, see FAQ 1.40 which addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?'.

Stunning! Sensible information, remarkable interview

Wendy Crowe

I am amazed at the meaning behind this work and the answers it gives to some of the beautiful relationships there already are between animals and humans. ie featherlight horsemanship!

WTM Admin

Absolutely Wendy! The meaning Jeremy Griffith’s work brings to our lives is astonishing because it explains why are we capable of such contradictory behaviour as to be selfless and loving but also selfish and destructive!! Until that riddle could be solved we have lived with a deep sense of unworthiness and insecurity and all we could do was close our mind to the entire subject of the human condition. If you haven’t already watched The Great Guilt (the companion presentation to THE Interview) you will be enthralled as it is a beautiful and revealing presentation that takes you back to when the human condition first emerged and explains just how sensitive and at one we were with each other and all of nature (why sensitive training techniques lie the one you mention can produce a true and empathetic connection between humans and animals) and comprehensively explains our fear of the human condition is a result of the shame and guilt we feel for having corrupted our all-loving and sensitive soul. You can access The Great Guilt here on our website.

Rhys Thomas

Science is the Pursuit of the Unknown and Solutions. Dylan Thomas covered this best with his quote about never shying away from the Dark and Dark Territory, which is where Answers and the Light of Knowledge congregate.

WTM Admin

Yes, Rhys – as Carl Jung famously said, “wholeness for humans depends on the ability to own our own shadow”, and what Jeremy Grifith has provided is the all-important enlightening, redeeming, reconciling and psychologically rehabilitating explanation for why the conflict between our instincts and our consciousness occurred, producing the upset state of the human condition. Until that was found, humans couldn’t relieve ourselves of that “darkness”. This is why this understanding is being heralded as the biological breakthrough “Solution” that can save the world.

Stanley Hendrickson

As a biologist myself the concept of the human condition explains a lot of variation that we see in animal behavior including human behavior

Asha Shenoi

How can religious dogma with various egotistical explanations that theirs is the only true religion, be removed?

WTM Admin

Very good question Asha. We can now understand that while the corrupting search for liberating knowledge was underway religion played a significant role as both the custodian of the ideal state and as a means of solace for those exhausted by the corrupting journey. However, it follows that with the redeeming biological understanding of why we had to depart from our original innocence now found, those metaphysical, faith-based accounts that looked after us are now redundant. In fact, what people discover is Jeremy Griffith’s work actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. In fact, it presents the fulfilment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’.     The other aspect of your question deals with people’s egocentric attachment to ideas. We suggest that as you digest this understanding you will see that everyone, no matter how egocentric, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete their strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level. You might be interested in our FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Dominic TS

Refreshing to know the basic inclination or nature of human beings - nurture.

WTM Admin

Yes, nurturing is what created humanity – it is how we developed our all-loving instinctive self or moral soul (see FAQ 4.2). However, under the duress of the human condition our ability to nurture has been severely compromised, but now that all our preoccupied behaviour has been defended by the explanation of the human condition, that preoccupation ends and nurturing will again become humanity’s central focus.

It is explained there that even those who are most committed to seeking validation through gaining power and wealth, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, biological explanation of the human condition that establishes our worth at the most fundamental level.

Louies du Toit

Unfortunately this talk remains within the limits of human Egotism and Arrogance. It completely ignores the fact that animals are in fact sentient. They are as conscious as we are, They think, plan, remember and feel in the same way we do. We share a nervous system that is the same as other mammals and most other life forms. Those who have different nervous systems still show glaringly obvious signs of sentience for those who care to see. Until we acknowledge and accept our fellow earthlings as being here with us and not for us and as being different to us but equal, we will continue to destroy Life as we know it.

WTM Admin

Clearly, while other animals have various levels of ‘awareness’, or are sentient and able to perceive or feel things, none are ‘conscious’ in the fundamental sense that none can consciously manage events like humans can. Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview that consciousness means being sufficiently aware of how experiences are related to attempt to manage change from a basis of understanding cause and effect, and so it is accurate to describe humans as the only animals possessing ‘fully conscious minds’, see FAQ 5.5 ‘Aren’t other animals capable of conscious thought like humans? / How can you say humans are the only fully conscious animals?’ Also we recommend Chapter 7 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation of how full consciousness developed in humans as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process which is absolutely fascinating (summarised in FAQ 5.4 ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’).

VJK NAIR

A rational explanation usefull to analyse revisit the way you were conducting yourselves all along. Being an 85 year old leftist, it still perplexes me as to why he says the left was wrong. Afterall was it not Marx who saw emancipation in Associated Labour that alone can end the alienation? Not that I am not aware of errors or even crimes committed in the name of lofty ideals of socialism Let the mind agitate further and the consciousness win over instincts conditioned in me over six decades of commitment in social good.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your comment, VJK. Biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work certainly recognises the destructive brutality of the right-wing; indeed he brings understanding to the whole extremely destructive angry, egocentric and alienated human condition. He also recognises the failing of the Left, which is that its dogmatic insistence on cooperative, selfless and loving behaviour stifled and oppressed the freedom of expression and individualism needed to find knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, the redeeming understanding of our seemingly destructive human condition that thankfully he has now found and presents in his book FREEDOM. Basically his work brings profound understanding to both sides, which ultimately brings to an end the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Leslie rodricks

Impressive talk! Sorry...am not at all convinced! Nothing New! Thank you!

WTM Admin

While it takes some time to digest, we suggest that what is unique about Jeremy Griffith’s work is that he has answered the essential question of why, when the universal ideals are to be integrative are we so disintegrative? Our endeavours in philosophy, psychology and biology have failed, until now, to provide a truthful, real, fully accountable, genuinely clarifying explanation. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new?’ and Video/Freedom Essay 4 which expands further on other thinkers (both ancient and contemporary) who have recognised instinct and intellect elements involved in creating the human condition.

Priyanka

This is very beautifully explained about the psycho behaviour of humans and about the core concept behind all the types of religion...

Dave Garbison

Very curious about the great compliments this interview is getting.

WTM Admin

Hi Dave, there are a lot of comments to scroll through on this thread but they do reflect a fair representation of the feedback we receive. This includes the “great compliments” you mention, as well as counter opinion, and critical and negative feedback, so we hope you take the time to watch or read THE Interview as we encourage everyone to judge for themselves the merit of Jeremy Griffith’s treatise on the human condition.

WTM Admin

Thank you Priyanka. Yes, we can now understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness, an insecurity caused by our all-loving instincts’ tragic but inevitable ‘criticism’ of our intellect’s necessary search for knowledge.     This understanding also allows us to appreciate the role of religion: it has been the custodian of the ideal state during humanity’s corrupting journey to find knowledge, and a means of solace for those exhausted by that journey. Our FAQs about religion provide a wealth of insight into this important and fascinating subject.

It’s true the worst examples of failure in our society are those who’ve not received full and wholesome nurture to become well rounded, loving adults.

WTM Admin

We wanted to respond with this magnificent passage from chapter 6:13 of Jeremy Griffith’s definitive book FREEDOM (this chapter is titled, ‘Nurturing now becomes a priority’), because it provides a reassuring view on how, with compassionate understanding of the human condition, we can now appreciate that while humanity’s necessary preoccupation with finding knowledge compromised our ability to nurture, now that that preoccupation ends we can safely acknowledge the absolute importance of nurturing in our species’ development, and in its future. Jeremy writes, “now that we have found that very good reason why parents have been unable to nurture their children with anything like the unconditional love children instinctively expect and need, it is no longer necessary to deny the importance of nurturing both in the maturation of our species and in our own lives. Yes, with the arrival of understanding the terrible guilt that parents have felt for not being able to adequately nurture their offspring departs. Parents can now understand that their inability to adequately love their offspring is not their fault, but the product of the ever-accumulating levels of upset in the human race as a whole that resulted from our species’ heroic 2-million-year search for knowledge, specifically for self-knowledge, understanding of why we conscious humans are good and not bad. So yes, we can finally now admit the importance of nurturing and turn our attention back to the nurturing of our offspring—in fact, it now becomes a matter of great urgency that we do both these things.”

Julia Jones

I’m very excited to follow Dr Griffith’s research topics and videos.

Gaspar J Fasulo

Unfortunately, this is just another example of the religious doctrine of free will and responsibility being relegated to the individual. It says nothing of the huge impact of environmental causation and controls. Again, this is another example of giving the individual the credit or blame for the envelopment of behavior. There are so many errors in determinations for human behavior. It’s too bad really that there are so many people who fall in line with convention, tradition, and the story- telling that is part and parcel of trying to make justice and this system of normalcy a reality. It is no wonder that the world is chaotic and human beings are confused. The concept of Tropisms and tropistic relationships with environment is unknown to the author if this interpretation of reality.

Barry Sowell

Hello I want to first say that I found the interview. Very interesting. I am a 66 year old Christian. I have been a follower of the teaching of Jesus Christ since the age of 21. I don’t belong to any church, but simply live my life by the teachings of Christ. And I find many parallels in your presentation that align perfectly with the teachings of Christ, one of which is in that Christ tells us to die to our self. He says in order to gain life we must lose our life which I think at least my take away is basically what you are attempting to convey. To lose this life of self-centeredness, and the pursuits of worldly things, such as financial gain, and dominance, all of which are based on this deeply self-centered existence we all seem to live. Interestingly, the parallel with scripture, perhaps the most interesting. I don’t prescribe to the world being millions of years old, but I do indeed adhere to the biblical teachings that there was indeed a fall from Grace, If you will, and your explanation of the consequences of Adam and Eve, eating the forbidden fruit, which you seem to convey as the point, in which they became conscious of themselves. Even at the age of 66, I suffer from ADHD, limiting me on the ability to focus entirely on your presentation, however, I feel that you have perhaps, uncovered, something extraordinary, especially in your portrayal of animals species that are such loving communities. Were we all Able to return to such a utopia, and my own humble opinion, would be the most profound impact on humanity, ending the need to seek worldly pleasures in order to justify our existence. Again I point out the teachings of Jesus Christ, who taught precisely as you are teaching , with the exception that we evolved from non-human beings. I encourage you to continue your quest for knowledge, but more importantly, I encourage you to intertwine this newfound knowledge with the teachings of Christ. The biblical record, That the human race was sinless

WTM Admin

Thank you so much Barry; we very much appreciate your consideration. Yes, there are huge parallels between Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition and Christianity; in fact we would suggest that what has been done here is that biological understanding has been brought to religious accounts of our condition, which means we can at last reconcile science and religion. For instance, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were actually ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! It establishes that we are good and not bad after all. What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race and allows us to forgive ourselves and others and finally end our psychologically troubled human condition—it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough. You might be interested in our FAQs about religion, especially 6.2 ‘What is God’ and 6.3 ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’.

Most wars aren’t started by ordinary people - they’re started by ambitious leaders like kings, emperors, presidents, dictators and the like. Most ordinary people don’t want war.

WTM Admin

Hi Ronald, key to Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is that all humans are born with all-loving moral instincts, not ‘savage’ animal instincts, but now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition caused by the conscious mind’s necessary search for knowledge and, in the extreme, that psychologically conflicted upset state produces extremely angry and war-like behaviour. Most significantly, this psychosis can be healed with understanding — a revelation that transforms the human race. So we can now understand that war, barbarism, greed and inequality are all symptoms of the human condition and can be remedied with this understanding of it. You might be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of: Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Manzoor. We certainly respect people’s religious views and wanted to mention that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in religion or God. In fact Jeremy has a deep respect for religious scripture which he often considers to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view, which his work simply brings biological understanding to. This is explained in our FAQ 6.3 ‘Does understanding of the human condition undermine a faith in religion or God?’.

Oh the pride and arrogance of man that some how believes that with all the right information and knowledge, that we can some how heal ourselves. What a thought! You missed out on a very important and necessary piece of information and that is the very creation of mankind, made in the image of God! The Gnome which scientists cannot explain. Something so much higher than the mind of man! The only one who can heal the heart and soul of mankind. All my human wisdom and understanding always falls short because I am still hurting inside because I can’t heal that deep part of my soul. Only the one who created me, can! God!! It’s not our smarts or understanding that heals! It’s my creator! Sin is our destroyer, let’s call it what it is! Recognizing my need to call it what it is, SIN, and understanding all my so called human wisdom can’t heal me, then who can; my creator; GOD! I ask Jesus to heal me, confess my sin and ask for forgiveness, is where it all begins! Your part way there, take the next step like I did. You won’t be disappointed.

D K RANA

Marvelous biological explanations.

Aaron Browne

Intellectualizing of human nature, as if it will ever evolve to a more positive emotional interaction with all of the other creatures here on earth, we have only recently given up cannibalism after a quart billion years and we still practice The atrocities to the innocent civilian population for our unjustifiable wars. I to would like be more optimistic about the human evolution.

WTM Admin

Thanks Aaron and given the state of the world your lack of optimism is understandable however this new science reveals all humans are born with all-loving moral instincts, not ‘savage’ animal instincts, but now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition caused by the conscious mind’s necessary search for knowledge and, in the extreme, that psychologically conflicted upset state produces extremely angry and destructive behaviour. And, most significantly, this psychosis can be healed with understanding — a revelation that transforms the human race. Of course this breakthrough explanation doesn’t condone or sanction the horrendous attrocities humans can commit rather, through bringing compassionate understanding to the source of humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it, see FAQ 1.38 Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? Also, you may find FAQ 1.40 ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world?’ helpful.

Interesting and helpful

Joseph

Complicated, but interesting

WTM Admin

Hi Joseph, while great care has been taken to present the explanation as quickly and simply as possible (which is done in Part 1 of THE Interview), opening up the underlying issue in all human affairs of the human condition does mean that there are several absolutely critical questions to be answered, which make up Parts 2, 3 & 4 of THE Interview. However, FAQ 1.3 presents a very brief summary of the key ‘instinct vs intellect’ concept. As Craig Conway observes in this interview, while this fundamental ‘genes vs nerves’ explanation is extraordinarily simple, it is “so far-reaching in its ramifications” that there is much to explain. So we hope you continue to pursue your interest and after THE Interview we highly recommend watching it’s companion presentation The Great Guilt where Jeremy Griffith explains more comprehensively the definition of our human condition and why engagement with the subject can be initially hard to grasp.

That’s all good and positive. But the real problem is MONEY. Until you can equilize the money through out all the people of the world not a lot is going to change.

What is so extraordinary about this breakthrough is we can now understand the fundamental reason why people want more than they need; we can now understand the source of greed and competition and the need for power – and it isn’t money. When the conscious mind went in search of knowledge a conflict between our instinct and intellect broke out, leading to an undeserved sense of guilt and insecurity that caused us to become psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric, the upset state we refer to as the human condition—a state we sought to alleviate through a competitive, selfish and aggressive bid for the reinforcement we could gain from winning power, fame, fortune and glory. But now that we can explain and understand this conflict and the guilt it produced, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition. We suggest these two FAQs will help as you digest this further.  FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’ and FAQ 1.40 ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’.

Witnessed already three generations closely not my own but other known families as well. Each time, there’s a new normal I have been observing. That means, which was previously regarded as morally normal, became morally not-so-normal in the next and then perhaps abnormal in the following generation. Is the whole human history progressed in similar fashions? True that the truth can potentially set the human free, but truth is also seen to become relative in social fronts with time unfortunately. Nevertheless, I appreciate the video and record my sincere acknowledgment.

WTM Admin

The first point we would make is that ‘truth’ is not ‘relative’. For example, Darwin’s theory of natural selection is either true or not; certainly new facts may alter it, but its truth doesn’t depend on the generation or outlook of the listener.     With regard to your suggestion that morality is also a ‘relative’ concept, the central tenet of Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is that humans have a cooperative, loving instinctive heritage, not a brutish, savage and aggressive one, and that the source of our aggression is a psychosis that has been compounding ever since the instinct and intellect clashed some 2 million years ago. It follows then that the further back in history we go, even if only a few generations, the less psychologically upset our ancestors were. If you go way back, you will find the ‘Golden Age’ as recorded by writers such as Hesiod, Plato and Moses. The point is that we can now understand the progression in psychological upset from generation to generation, a rate of progression that is now increasing at alarming rates (see Freedom Essay 55). We can now understand however, that real morality is not relative - it is based on unconditional love and is a reflection of our all-loving instinctive self or soul, the voice of which is our conscience.

This is a fantastic research from an highly cerebral being amongst men. As a well learned researcher, he took time to look into indepth knowledge of animal and human existence comparatively go further on the animals transformative instincts and human development. It is a book to read by all.

Very fascinating, really opens up your mind, I feel that this needs to be made into a documentary on all media streams to reach every human out there, it will relieve the worlds misery and bring us all together as it should be, 1 world, 1 universal love.

Sherry Lee

Mind blowing. I’ve been waiting for this all my life. I want to watch all the information. I am so amazed and stunned. I feel emancipated and I want to learn how to live in a new world within and outside of me. Thank you so much. I am humbled.

Great insight, but the key is.... how are you going to motivate all those confused people that have not come to grips with being nurturing and free willed... when being aggressive and manipulative benefits/rewards them in our society? (it will take much more than a few free resources... this needs to be practiced and ingrained) or that people need to behave in this way, simply to survive (ie. people who are desparately close to or under the poverty line have no option other than stealing, and screwing other people over). You can’t change the mentality unless a vast majority of the population practice or are educated in what you are teaching. Do you want this practiced in Schools (knowing that students are influenced much moreso by their parents?). Unfortunately, I see no short term solution to the problem or strategy to address the issue and therefore no change will occur or it will occur very, very slowly. I do support your thesis however.

WTM Admin

Thank you very much, Andrew, for your considered feedback. Part 4 of THE Interview, titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’, explains that it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but importantly, it also stresses we can be immediately free of its effects. Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult, but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So while this necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish as the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can. FAQ 1.40 addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’.

Interestingly Jeremy’s description of the loving environment the Bonobo offer their young is similar to how our Indigenous people raise children. A welcome insight that will hopefully create change & encourage people to seek to understand, rather than judge, condemn & crucify.

WTM Admin

Yes, we can now understand that like our distant ancestors, the bonobos have undergone love-indoctrination (see Part 3 of THE Interview), and as a result are extremely nurturing of their young. It also follows that indigenous peoples, not having undergone the corrupting search for knowledge as much as some other races, retain some of that nurturing capacity. That being said, we thought it important to end this reply with this magnificent passage from chapter 6:13 of FREEDOM (which is titled, ‘Nurturing now becomes a priority’), because it provides a reassuring view on how, with compassionate understanding of the human condition, we can now appreciate that while humanity’s necessary preoccupation with finding knowledge compromised our ability to nurture, now that that preoccupation ends, we can safely acknowledge the absolute importance of nurturing in our species’ development, and in its future: “now that we have found that very good reason why parents have been unable to nurture their children with anything like the unconditional love children instinctively expect and need, it is no longer necessary to deny the importance of nurturing both in the maturation of our species and in our own lives.

Christina Garson

Beautifully explained and well articulated! Thank you for putting this together and producing a tangible means for all to understand. Now let’s bring peace to earth and all that live here.

It shall takes many generations for humans to heal, even if it is an official agenda. If not, it shall be a privilege of a few. I wonder how would be theology involved in this new-thinking generations.

WTM Admin

Hi Sergio, as explained in our response to Costel below, while the upset within us will take generations to be completely healed, importantly we can all be immediately free of its effects. We can at last understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. This is the rapidly rehabilitating and transforming effect of being able to understand the human condition. This transformation is explained in Freedom Essay 15 ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’, while the Transformation section of our website is brimming with invaluable insight, counsel and personal affirmations.     Regarding theology, the human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ and is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. In fact, what people discover is by bringing biological understanding to all the pre-scientific concepts contained in religious scripture, Jeremy Griffith’s explanation represents the fulfilment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Aren’t all Griffith’s demystifications of religious teachings going to be seen by supporters of religion as blasphemy? / Does understanding of the human condition undermine a faith in religion or God? / How does this affect my personal religious practice? / How can you reconcile the explanation of the human condition that defends the upset state with religious teachings that condemn upset?’

Alec Butler

Makes perfect sense absolutely we aren’t meant to live the way we have been and of course that makes people angry without knowing why most people do not know themselves we have been lead astray, thank u for this information 🤓

What about Jesus Christ?

WTM Admin

Hi John, Jeremy Griffith considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science perspective, and he has written about Christ’s life and its phenomenal importance in humanity’s journey in Freedom Essay 39.
