Interesting I’m a creationist

WTM Admin

Great to have your interest Derrick. The human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’and is therefore the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Jeremy Griffith’s treatise actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. Although this is science, it is based on a Godly nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being briefly explained in THE Interview as being the integrative meaning of existence. You may find our FAQs about religion helpful, especially FAQs ‘What is God’ and ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’.

Thank you

Tedbury Comborooke

Australian Original Proverb: We are here to Love : receive love, give love, learn love, teach love...Love is all

WTM Admin

Thanks for your comment Tedbury. Cultures, religions and mythologies recognise the great importance of love but the outstanding question to be answered is WHY don’t we always behave lovingly? Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents. You might find Jeremy’s essay 'What is Love' of interest.

John dimmick

Very interesting, I’m going to study this until I understand the totality of this discourse. Something remains hidden in my psyche, a sense of doubt or perhaps these thoughts trigger a basic insecurity. Departing from a lifetime of presumed genetic motivation into an unstructured existence based on a diaphanous logic of love seems to offer a frightening vulnerability much like the martyrs of old endured. These ideas seem to promote an internal almost blasphemous lack of self control which I suspect is unintended by the author. Somewhere I suspect I have missed a salient point. Something which will direct my curiosity into a more comfortable therefore more adaptable logic. I’m reminded of the difficulty I experienced with analog geometry in fourth dimension math, simple logic but agonizing concepts. John

WTM Admin

Thank you very much for your open and thoughtful comment John and this does present a massive paradigm shift or change of world view which takes time and a little patience to adjust to. As you say it is “departing from a presumed genetic motivation” for our behaviour where the presumed solution was to control our selfish ‘savage’ animal instincts to now be able to understand humans have loving and cooperative instincts and that our selfishness is a result of the psychosis caused by clash between our instincts and intellect. And, significantly, a psychosis can be healed with understanding, which at last provides the safe macro context of the human journey where our goodness as individuals, and as a species, is biologically established and we soon realise we no longer have to be afraid of the human condition.     We strongly suggest you watch The Great Guilt (which follows THE Interview) as it will fill in the missing pieces and allow the logic to flow in your mind. Here Jeremy Griffith outlines more comprehensively the definition of our human condition, and why engagement with the subject can be initially hard to grasp, which your analogy of the difficulty you once experienced with analog geometry well describes. It is an astonishingly beautiful and revealing presentation that takes you back to when the human condition first emerged. It further illustrates while we lacked the explanation for our 2-million-year corrupted human condition we had no choice but to deny that our distant ape ancestors lived in a state of cooperative and loving innocence. But with the good reason for our corrupted condition now finally found, our species’ original state of innocence can at last be admitted — and what that honesty finally allows us to see is the immense guilt and shame we humans have been carrying for corrupting our original instinctive self or soul. While it’s all-relieving to have this ‘Great Burden of Guilt’ finally lifted, having it suddenly revealed is so exposing that the mind of many will initially refuse to take in or ‘hear’ what’s being talked about. It will suffer from a ‘Deaf Effect’, which is what this presentation is all about overcoming and it includes people talking about their experiences with the deaf effect which is most interesting. Also, our extensive FAQs on our website are an excellent resource and feel free to contact us via our contact facility with any questions or thoughts John as we’re here to help in any way we can.

Control from the top. Realization of manipulation feuled by greed. Slavery brutaly enforced and justified by law using our natural loving and nurturing feelings, soul and understanding to guilt. Teaching starts from birth. Everyone with the ability to unite us = change evolving growth strength is KILLED, 😪 reset is coming. Thankyou for the interview. It’s common sense- also conditioned out of us🤯 God bless you,

WTM Admin

Hi Kobie, thank you for your comment and it is great this is resonating with you. There is a lot to absorb in this presentation but we suggest the more you do the more you will realise it explains humans’ psychological upset is not a product of control or conditioning but the result of a universal psychosis, caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect. Now the source of the human condition is explained we can see that our selfishness, greed and need for power is a symptom of this psychosis and, significantly, a psychosis is changeable as it can be healed through understanding so the solution is simple and all-powerful. You might enjoy our FAQs 1.4 – 1.6 about how this transforms us and the world. We also recommend The Great Guilt, which is the companion presentation to THE Interview and it explains the immense guilt and shame we humans have had to carry for corrupting our “natural, loving and nurturing soul” so that’s a must watch!

Can’t wait to hear

DAVID BROCKSCHMIDT

‘The truth and nothing – but – the truth – but less and less people, in the age of “political correctness ” wokeism and cancel subculture want to hear! The warning’s of Orwell & Huxley and the fact that political correctness is intellectual terrorism (Dame Leonie Kramer) is totally ignored. Its very sad indeed!! Freedom of speech means: telling people what they -dont- want to hear.

WTM Admin

Yes, as Jeremy Griffith explains in Part 4 of THE Interview “socialism, the new age movement, the politically correct movement, and all the other idealistic movements, were actually all false starts to a human-condition-free world because the upsetting battle to find knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, the psychologically relieving understanding of why we are good and not bad, still had to be completed. In fact, while dogmatically insisting that everyone should be cooperative and loving could make you feel that you were doing good and be superficially psychologically very relieving, such insistence on ideal behaviour denied people the freedom they needed to be able to continue the all-important upsetting search for knowledge. These movements were pseudo idealistic movements that stifled and oppressed the search for the understanding of our corrupted condition that was needed to actually free us from that state. They were regressive, not progressive as they deluded themselves they were. It was actually the right-wing who have supported the upsetting battle to find knowledge that held the moral high ground, not the pseudo idealistic left-wing.” To fully understand what is dangerous about the left wing, we recommend Jeremy’s book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage. Thankfully, the reconciling explanation of the human condition brings an end to the whole ugly business of politics!

This has finally shown me why I chose to be a mother/guide to every child that came to me. That my instinct to nurture with unconditional love is strong. I will continue to be Mama Mandie until I take my last breath.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Mandie. Yes, the instinct to nurture is incredibly strong, and what is so important about Jeremy’s breakthrough explanation of the human condition is that we can now understand why it has had to take second place to the corrupting search for knowledge, but now that we have found understanding of our corrupted condition, nurturing can again become the priority. The following passage from chapter 6:13 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, which is titled, ‘Nurturing now becomes a priority’, explains it wonderfully: “now that we have found that very good reason why parents have been unable to nurture their children with anything like the unconditional love children instinctively expect and need, it is no longer necessary to deny the importance of nurturing both in the maturation of our species and in our own lives. Yes, with the arrival of understanding the terrible guilt that parents have felt for not being able to adequately nurture their offspring departs. Parents can now understand that their inability to adequately love their offspring is not their fault, but the product of the ever-accumulating levels of upset in the human race as a whole that resulted from our species’ heroic 2-million-year search for knowledge, specifically for self-knowledge, understanding of why we conscious humans are good and not bad. So yes, we can finally now admit the importance of nurturing and turn our attention back to the nurturing of our offspring—in fact, it now becomes a matter of great urgency that we do both these things.”

Inspiring!...It simply resonates with the life we should all be living.

Bon Allan Ocariza

Definitely an insight worth sharing. Since we are Social being, we can use our biggest strength to spread information such this. The upsets and challenges we already identify gives us an opportunity to plan, review and execute of slowly eliminate such behavior. Many outlet such as social media puts ourselves to share non-verbally. Influencers will have the biggest impact. All it takes is one to understand and from then on multiples many outsource and resources to share.

As a retired police officer, I am fully aware of the ‘ human condition’. I am willing to see if you can add anything that I am not aware of.

WTM Admin

Barry, the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition, the more you realise that it is behind all our behaviour, and behind all our social institutions and in fact, it is behind everything we do. The main stream media, and the public’s appetite for ego-affirming, sensational, polarising news, is just another manifestation of the human condition. Can’t get with right left talk. I’ve been very interested in this but if finger pointing is part of it? Not sure I’ll stay around. Still here still looking to understand.

WTM Admin

It does take some time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, Lisa, and in particular, how it applies to politics. The ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing: the problem with the right-wing is its destructiveness, however, through its support of egocentricity and selfishness, it does encourage the search for knowledge to continue. However the left wing’s insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing and thus regressing, not ‘progressing’, the all-important search for knowledge. Most importantly, this understanding brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. We recommend Jeremy Griffith’s book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage, as well as our FAQs about politics.

I would like to know where can I get all of these books I can’t wait to read them fully understand them so that I can share them as you have

WTM Admin

Hi Robbin, thank you for your heartfelt message below, it is so wonderful that Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough understanding is resonating so deeply with you after such a bewildering time! Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM: The End Of The Human Condition is freely available on our homepage here, along with his other key books, to read online or download (all of which are freed of charge). You can also download free Kindle version, or purchase hard copies from Amazon and other good bookstores.     We also wanted to draw your attention to the ‘ship at sea’ position Jeremy talks about which you may or may not relate to. Freedom Essay 30 titled Resignation explains that some adolescents refuse to properly resign and take up the strategy of denial of the issue of the human condition that almost everybody else does. They courageously keep facing it, refuse to ‘pull into a port’, as it were, and escape the storms of confrontation with the real horror of the human condition, which does produce an honest, although torturous existence.     And lastly, we encourage you to register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith and join our WTM Community Facebook Group to share in this transforming knowledge!

Janell Inman

The spiritual community has brought this out already. Glad it’s being presented for the mainstream.

WTM Admin

Great wisdom can be found in some spiritual teaching, Janell, but ultimately our thinking mind needed understanding — specifically, scientific understanding of why when the ideals are to be loving and selfless are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith’s treatise does and why it is heralded as the breakthrough that can save the world. You can read about the reconciliation of science and religion that is now possible in FAQ 1.15 and FAQ 6.2. We also recommend FAQ 6.5, which explains the difference between Jeremy’s explanation and new age spirituality, and FAQ 1.13, which explains the originality of his work.

WHO SOUZA

Now what

WTM Admin

Humanity becomes FREE of the burden of the human condition because solving it solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at its source! We can now understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness, so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. This is the rapidly transforming effect of being able to understand the human condition, however because it presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking it does take a little time to fully grasp. FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 are helpful as they talk about the far-reaching practical applications of this understanding.

WTM Admin

Hi Theresa, at the top of this page you’ll find access options including downloading the video and audio files, as well as eBook and PDF files of the transcript.

WTM Admin

Yes, the central tenet of Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is that humans have a cooperative, loving instinctive heritage, not a brutish, savage and aggressive one, and that the source of our aggression is a psychosis that has been compounding ever since the instinct and intellect clashed some 2 million years ago. Until we could explain and defend our present corrupted condition, any admission of past cooperative, loving ‘golden age’ was unbearably condemning of our present state. And so we blocked it out, and instead pretended that our forebears were savage brutes. With the redeeming explanation of our corrupted condition, we can at last admit that we have a loving and cooperative past, and as you say, it can now exist again. We recommend Jeremy’s book The Great Guilt, which explains just why we have had to ‘forget’ this golden age.

Miller Keith

Great

Socialism IS being loving, communal and just at a societal scale! The Nordics know this and have less mental and social strife by caring for the ppl. Lovely analysis gets lost in the end by blaming ppl of conscience. Boo.

WTM Admin

It does take some time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, and in particular, how it applies to politics. Jeremy emphasises that while it is easy to identify with the ideal of everyone being cooperative and loving, the whole objective of the human journey has been to find understanding of why humans have not been cooperative and loving and instead so divisively competitive and aggressive. That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained, and what is finally revealed with the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation is that that corrupted, selfish, divisive behaviour was an unavoidable result of the all-important human journey to find understanding. Socialism, with its insistence on cooperative behaviour, was actually working against humanity’s great endeavour to find understanding because it didn’t tolerate the selfishness that allowed the journey to continue. We recommend Jeremy Griffith’s book Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage.

Deacon Martin

I couldn’t find a reference to Wilhelm Reich here and wondered if some of his thinking / findings is reflected in some of your thinking / findings? Best wishes, DM

WTM Admin

Thanks for your question Deacon. To assist enquirers we have created a number of extremely comprehensive, freely available, books, essays and FAQs covering every aspect of Jeremy Griffith’s treatise on our comprehensive website that can be easily searched electronically. If you click on the menu or ‘hamburger’ icon (three horizontal lines at the top right of our website) our search function is in the top right corner.     If you search ‘Wilhelm Reich’ you will see Jeremy Griffith mentions him in several publications including his main book FREEDOM and Freedom Essay 28. For instance to quote from Essay 28: “The longer and/or more intensely an individual or a race of people were subjected to life under the duress of the human condition, the more they naturally became adapted to that upset existence. While a relatively innocent person or relatively innocent race still behaved relatively ideally themselves and expected others to do the same, other individuals and races became so adapted to the upset/corrupt world that they no longer behaved ideally themselves and no longer expected others to behave ideally either. The longer humans were exposed to the human-condition-afflicted state the more cynical they became about human existence—a ‘cynic’ being ‘one who doubts or denies the goodness of human motives’. The psychiatrist Wilhelm Reich wrote honestly about the effects of the different levels of upset in the human race when he described how ‘The living [those relatively free of exposure to upset]…is naively kindly…It assumes that the fellow human also follows the laws of the living and is kindly, helpful and giving. As long as there is the emotional plague [the flood of upset in the world], this natural basic attitude, that of the healthy child or the primitive [innocent race]…[is subject to] the greatest danger…For the plague individual also ascribes to his fellow beings the characteristics of his own thinking and acting. The kindly individual believes that all people are kindly and act accordingly. The plague individual believes that all people lie, swindle, steal and crave power. Clearly, then, the living is at a disadvantage and in danger.’”

Hunans can self heal through a conscious mind state. Image mental health breakdown or burnout. Depict life is a tunnel one needs to go back to first memory revisit make peace with and heal. Then move on too next memory till One Day one returns to person they want to be.

WTM Admin

Yes, humans can self heal, but we suggest that what has been needed for that healing to occur at the most profound level has been the redeeming understanding of humanity’s fundamental goodness. As the highly respected psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, wrote: “the beauty of Griffith’s treatise is that the healing starts at the macro level of the universal human condition; the healing of the shame and blame that the whole human race has suffered from…It brings the greater context and love to all human psychosis and suffering, and then, from under the umbrella of that safe position, everyone can gradually work inwards to their particular experience of all the imperfections in human life that have now, finally, been made sense of.” (FAQ 1.34).

Francisco Jayme

E.O. Wilson’s work on evolution mirrors the postulated theory you present thanks for sharing

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Francisco. It does take time to fully absorb this new science so we wanted to clarify there is no similarity between E.O. Wilson’s work and Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition. Wilson’s most recent theory, which is ‘Multilevel Selection’, suggests that humans have selfless and selfish instincts and that the conscious mind is an innocent arbiter, torn between the two. In his definitive book FREEDOM chapter 2:11 Jeremy comprehensively addresses this theory, explaining that it “not only contrives an explanation for our genuinely moral instincts, but takes the art of denial to the absolute extreme by contriving a non-human-condition-confronting explanation of the human condition itself!…the Multilevel Selection theory for eusociality misrepresents, in fact, avoids, the real, consciousness-derived, psychological aspect of the human condition.” Explanation of the human condition presents a massive paradigm shift in our thinking so we encourage you to read FREEDOM, especially chapter 2.     Also, we thought it worth including what Professor Scott Churchill, the then Chair of the Psychology Department at the University of Dallas, wrote about Jeremy’s work in relation to E.O. Wilson’s and others. To quote “I have recommended his [Griffith’s] more recent work to my students precisely for his razor-sharp clarifications of positions of contemporary authors like Edward O. Wilson, Richard Dawkins, and Robert Wright. Griffith manages to summarize book-length expositions of these oftentimes obtuse and varying perspectives on human evolution with clarity and brilliance” (Expert Report, 2007).

Elijah

Of course humans are inately good – we are taught by certain religions that we are born sinners, inately bad – as all babies are born innocent. No baby is born a murderer, a paedophile, a rapist – life experiences in childhood influence the decisions these people make later in life. Prisons do not rehabilitate nor heal. But the current earthly powers that be, the system as such, encourage the belief humans are born “evil” and therefore must be contained. Here’s to freedom and agape (unconditional) love and a kinder planet moving forward. We’ve got this <3

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Elijah. As is explained in Part 2 of THE Interview, the idea that humans are born “evil” because we have savage animal instincts is just an excuse we have had to use until we had the real defence for our condition. We can now see that our ancestors were completely loving and cooperative and, as you say “humans are innately good”, and that our the ferociously angry and destructive dark side is a result of our psychologically upset state which resulted from the instinct vs intellect clash. Importantly, as our FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour?’ explains, this understanding of why we became upset as a species does not condone or sanction the horrific acts of violence humans can commit, rather, through bringing understanding to humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it so it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough.

Alexandra

Thank you

A DC Xavier

Thanks very much for a wonderful interview Transform the world forever & ever

Steve Parkes

I was hoping to be impressed by something special here - but all I heard throughout this entire promotion was vague, unsubstantiated hot air. All these people saying how profound this is and how it’s all going to spectacularly change the whole world - yet how come I heard NOTHING to give me any real hope for anything apart from how all these people have had their ‘eyes opened’.... by WHAT, exactly? Did I fall asleep and miss the vital nitty-gritty part? “Thanks for courageously sharing” WHAT? “Very Informative”says Roman Gonzales... but WHAT is he referring to, exactly? I’ve come away from this merely convinced that “The Human Condition” is just some insubstantial, made-up terminology and all this endless waffle-waffle-waffle is simply leading to - eventually - trying to sell me something that will, of course, prove to be useless. I’m NOT impressed.

Mark Atlas (Author)

Yes, I felt that also Steve. I give 5 stars to Professor Prosen for the idea. It’s shiny and sleek. I’ve been a big thinker on the bigger picture for decades, and I finally arrived at a creator. There are many problems to a Creator, but overall the hundreds of accountable variables form a distinguishable jigsaw image.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Mark, but as we responded above to Steve, its important to note that he hadn’t watched THE Interview, he had only watched an ad with people’s responses to it. It should also be pointed out that biologist Jeremy Griffith is the author of the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition not Professor Prosen. The late Professor Prosen, former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, was a supporter of Jeremy’s and the WTM’s mission of bringing understanding to the human condition.     With regard to a Creator, we certainly respect people’s religious views, but do think it is very important to clarify that Jeremy’s work doesn’t contradict the Bible – Jeremy’s work simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. The real issue is if people prefer a more literal fundamentalist interpretation of scripture rather than our more biological, science-based interpretation. For those interested in exploring this further we suggest FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’; and FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’.

WTM Admin

Sounds like you haven’t watched the actual presentation Steve. If you want to, you need to click on the ‘Watch More’ button at the bottom right of the Ad, or you can watch it at the top of our homepage where you left your comment.     The subject of the human condition is very real, as renowned biologist E.O. Wilson stated, “The human condition is the most important frontier of the natural sciences”, and you can read the outstanding commendations Jeremy Griffith’s biological treatise has received from leading thinkers and scientists here on our homepage.     Also we do make it clear on all our platforms that the work of the WTM is a scientific pursuit and was not created for profit, so all of our information and materials (including books, videos and podcasts) are provided absolutely free of charge on our website (no email required).

Michael

Thank you very much for helping me find answers to who I really am. Of all the sheep in the flock, very few will find their way back home.

Chris McGovern

I’ve believed for many years 95% of the global population are fundamentally awesome. There are many examples of civilization living symbiotically with nature and I feel Griffith has dissected Western culture more than humanity as a whole.

THE Interview presents biologist Jeremy Griffith’s treatise that all humans variously suffer from the human condition—a universal psychosis caused by a clash between our instinct and intellect. It has been humans’ fundamental responsibility as conscious beings to search for knowledge, ultimately sufficient knowledge to explain the human condition—why we are divisively rather than cooperatively behaved. This search corrupted us, we lost our innocence and became estranged from the truthful, sensitive world of our soul, but that self-corruption was the price we had to pay and, until we found the redeeming understanding of ourselves, there was no lasting way out of our compounding psychologically upsetting situation.     Certainly the more innocent or sheltered ‘races’ (ethnic groups) have not been as exposed to this heroic battle as less sheltered races, and so they aren’t as psychologically upset as those less sheltered races. So yes, more sheltered races have more affinity with our instinctive harmonious, cooperative way of living and nature. However, all humans are now part of the extremely upset stage of humanity, H. sapiens sapiens, and are therefore nowhere near as innocent as humans were some 2 million years ago when the battle of the human condition first emerged. Indeed, upset has been replacing innocence for 2 million years. Also, most significantly, despite the differing levels of upset due to everyone’s different encounters with humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, we are all equally good so we disagree that Jeremy Griffith hasn’t addressed and explained the plight of humanity as a whole.     Perhaps this example will help you see just how universal this explanation is. The founder of the WTM Zambia Centre, Franklin Mukakanga, said before he came across Jeremy’s understanding of the human condition that he “hated what [Caucasians] had done and continue to do to my people in the process of bringing us ‘civilisation’. This led to a deep resentment and to my treating Caucasians with a cool, guarded ambivalence.” You can watch and read this in Video/Freedom Essay 8 as well as Franklin’s testimony to the power of this understanding when he discovered Jeremy’s work “From my own experience I can say with absolute certainty that, as the word gets out, FREEDOM [Jeremy’s definitive book] will provide the key to healing poor or strained ‘race relations’ throughout the world. Basically, this understanding of the human condition will end all prejudices, like racism, forever.” Also our FAQ 9.1 ‘How do you explain racism?’ may be of interest.

Love you. Thank you so very much now I See how my parents had 8 children and some are so different and now I understand. Thank you. I was blind but now I 👀.

Simply enlightening…..THANKYOU

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the unconditional love shown to an animal that may not grow up to have selfless tendencies and that of the Human? Elephants, for example, are reared over 3 years. Any dog owner has witnessed the unconditional love of a mother for it’s young. It’s only cut short by ourselves in choosing a pet.

I want to be convinced, but I felt I spent an hour with little substance, and an explanation that left a lot to be desired.

Please prove me wrong. Right now I feel I’d have spent my time more valuabley in reading some of the Dhammapadda. At least that does not pretend to be anything other than a way of life and philosophy.

I look forward to your replies.

Thank you for your question Kevin. Part 3 of THE Interview explains that even though other animals display various levels of cooperation they are driven by gene-based natural selection and the essential fact or rule of natural selection is that genes are unavoidably selfish, so there is a fundamental limit to the amount of selfless, loving behaviour they can develop. The brilliance of biologist Jeremy Griffith’s work is he explains that humans were able to develop genuinely selfless and loving moral instincts, the ‘voice’ or expression of which is our conscience, through the process of nurturing or ‘love-indoctrination’ which overcame the limitation of altruistic, unconditionally selfless genetic traits normally self-eliminating. (In Part 3 the audience is referred to Freedom Essay 21 and chapter 5 of Jeremy’s main book FREEDOM which explain this ‘love-indoctrination’ process more fully.) This limitation accounts for the situation all the non-human animal species find themselves in where each sexually reproducing individual member of the species must forever compete to ensure its genes reproduce and carry on—this is what Jeremy describes in Part 1 as the ‘animal condition’ and more fully explained in Freedom Essay 25 ‘The Truthful Biology of Life’. You will see explained there that apparent acts of selflessness from non-human animal species are in fact indirect, subtle forms of selfishness (because genes have to ensure they reproduce and carry on) and can be explained as ‘reciprocity’ or conditional selflessness.     In terms of social animals, Jeremy recognises the extraordinary cooperativeness of bonobos and presents compelling evidence that our human ancestors were bonobo-like (summarised in THE Interview and further explained in the links above). He proposes they demonstrate the nurturing based love-indoctrination process that we humans went through and that every species would try to develop as much love-indoctrinated integration as their circumstances permit, which can be seen in animals like dolphins and elephants, but how their physical and environmental situations have limited them from achieving that, meaning they still remain in the animal condition (see Freedom Expanded: Book 1—The New Biology Part 8:4G). And in chapter 6 of FREEDOM, Jeremy explains that while we have domesticated dogs and they can seemingly act cooperatively, they are still limited by their selfish genetic orientation to aggressively compete for food, territory and mating opportunities.     We hope you find these links helpful Kevin and in terms of The Dhammapada while Buddha and other prophets spoke truthfully about human life, it was all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough THE Interview presents.     For the benefit of readers of these comments we would clarify there is no pretence in what Jeremy Griffith is presenting. Part 1 is titled ‘The psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition’ and that is exactly what THE Interview presents. And as is also explained the human condition is the most fearful of subjects because it’s the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad and our fear of this interface can make it hard to understand all that is explained in one viewing (further dealt with in The Great Guilt presentation which follows THE Interview).

Enjoyed learning about our human condition! It explains so much!

Awesome

Laura

Thank you. Interested in reading FREEDOM. Genes Vs Nerves.

WTM Admin

That’s wonderful Laura! There is nothing more fascinating than reading FREEDOM which is immediately available for free HERE on our homepage. This links also presents Jeremy Griffith’s other key books. You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon, where you can also purchase hardcopies if you’d prefer.

Keith

This past decade has seen me constantly being criticized whether I do or don’t to the extent that I was abusing and critizing my self for the smallest of errors. Thankyou so much for this enlightenment.

WTM Admin

Yes Keith it is immensely relieving to finally be able to understand the human journey and have the core mystery of our contradictory behaviour biologically understood! As THE Interview explains, this is not about dogmatically imposing idealism which doesn’t resource our inner conflict. This treatise confronts the source of our ‘good and evil’ stricken human condition. It explains our aggressive and selfish behaviour isn’t due to us having savage genes but rather that we suffer from a universal psychosis caused by the clash between our loving and cooperative instincts and our intellect. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here. And with our dark side truthfully explained and defended we can finally love instead of criticise and abuse ourselves, and bring about a reconciled world, free of suffering, see FAQ 1.5 ‘Why is understanding the human condition important to my life’!

Christy Marshall

Very enlightening. If everyone subscribed, what a different world this would be. I think we are all scared of what’s to come.

WTM Admin

Yes Christy everyone needs this enlightening understanding which will transform the world! We certainly have been scared of what’s to come and with this understanding we can access the deeper and legitimate reason for our fear. Fear of the issue of the human condition, are we fundamentally good or bad?! Thank goodness our fundamental worth and goodness as individuals, and as a species, is finally established and the human condition is no longer a fearful frontier but a new framework of knowledge full of compassion and genuine togetherness to safely explore. We recommend you now watch or read The Great Guilt which is the companion presentation to THE Interview. It outlines more comprehensively the definition of our human condition, and why engagement with the subject has been so scary. It also further explains the immense guilt and shame humans have been carrying for corrupting our original instinctive self or soul and how we can now legitimately move to “a different world” free of the burden of the human condition, it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough!
