This certainly will make us and the world better because as Jeremy explains in THE Interview all humans are born with an instinctive self or soul that is perfectly aligned to a cooperative and selfless way of living and that humans’ upset (angry, egocentric and alienated) behaviour is not a product of savage animal instincts within us, but the result of a universal psychosis caused by the unavoidable clash between our instinct and intellect. And most significantly, as Part 4 explains, a psychosis can be healed with understanding, so our psychologically upset human nature is fixable or changeable—not unchangeable!     Hi Tommy, while Catholicism and other religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.     Also, the human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for acts of both so-called ‘good and evil’, it is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts (see FAQ 1.15 ‘If this is a biology, why the religious references?’). For instance Jeremy explains in this interview the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! It couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough, to quote Part 4 of THE Interview: “What this instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition fundamentally does is lift the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race. It establishes that we humans are good and not bad after all…That is the key relief for our mind—being finally able to understand that we are good and not bad is what brings us the greatest psychological relief of all.”

As is discussed in THE Interview while many thinkers (both ancient and contemporary) have recognised the instincts and intellect elements involved in creating the human condition, what is unique about Jeremy Griffith’s treatise is that he has answered the essential question of why, when the universal ideals are to be integrative are we so disintegrative? Our endeavours in philosophy, psychology and biology have failed, until now, to provide a truthful, real, fully accountable, genuinely clarifying explanation. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here (see FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new?’) and why it’s attracted the support of eminent scientists and thinkers around the world (see our Commendations page).     Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science, the “tools”, which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world.     There is a lot to digest here Alan, so we advise everyone to take their time and advance slowly. One thing we would point out is that we can now understand that our core instinctive orientation is to be loving and cooperative (see more on this in Freedom Essay 21). However, unable to defend our non-loving, divisive behaviour, admitting our core instinctive orientation was to be loving and cooperative left us unbearably condemned, and so we employed the false excuse that we have savage instincts like other animals. You can read more about this ‘false excuse’ in Freedom Essay 14.     We suggest the more you absorb what is presented in THE Interview the more you will realise that it explains humans’ psychological upset is not a product of our genetics but the result of a universal psychosis, caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect. And, significantly, a psychosis is changeable as it can be healed through understanding.     Thank you for your thoughts Abdullateef. Certainly, being born into a world that is already drenched with anger, egocentricity and alienation has a terrible effect on anyone growing up. While our “early influences” and “upbringing” have a massive impact on our subsequent behaviour, ultimately that compromised ability to nurture had to come from somewhere. What is explained in THE Interview is that the evolutionary clash between ‘instinct vs intellect’ is the ultimate source of all that ‘upset’. You might be interested in FAQ 1.37 ‘How much of our upset is caused by our own search for knowledge and how much is caused by the accumulated upset already in the world?’     Most wonderfully, by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation are made redundant, which means we are finally in a position to transform the world. In Part 4 of THE Interview, Jeremy explains how the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible, actually occurs.

    THE Interview reveals humans’ selfish and competitive behaviour is not a product of unchangeable savage animal instincts within us, which is essentially what you are saying when you say “the human race is...part of nature, and the nature is so much...part of the human race”, but the result of a psychosis, caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect. Basically, in the absence of the fully accountable, true understanding of the human condition, we humans needed to come up with some excuse, like humans having ‘savage animal instincts’, in order to cope with the negative implications of our behaviour (see FAQ 1.2). Jeremy Griffith explains this key biological distinction that humans suffer from the conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition, not the genetic-opportunism-based, animal condition: “Surely this idea that we have savage competitive and aggressive, must-reproduce-our-genes instincts cannot be the real reason for our species’ competitive and aggressive behaviour because, after all, words used to describe our human behaviour such as egocentric, arrogant, inspired, depressed, deluded, pessimistic, optimistic, artificial, hateful, cynical, mean, sadistic, immoral, brilliant, guilt-ridden, evil, psychotic, neurotic and alienated, all recognise the involvement of OUR species’ fully conscious thinking mind. They demonstrate that there is a psychological dimension to our behaviour; that we don’t suffer from a genetic-opportunism-driven ‘animal condition’, but a conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled HUMAN CONDITION.”     And as Jeremy explains in Part 1, “it is actually really good news that our behaviour is due to a conscious-mind-based psychologically troubled condition because psychoses can be healed with understanding”. So yes, this real explanation of the human condition does allow us to ‘fix the world’!

    As Jeremy Griffith explains in his book AI, Aliens & Conspiracies: The Truthful Analysis, the danger to the spread of AI is that it will not recognise the paradox of the human condition.     We’ve had to be competitive, selfish and aggressive to freely search for understanding of our underlying psychological corruption (the instinct-vs-intellect conflict). Suppressing that prematurely through left-wing-style pseudo-idealism — dogmatic enforcement of cooperation, selflessness and “love” — is actually regressive. It blocks the truth-seeking freedom needed for real psychological healing and condemns the very upset behaviour that was necessary.     A ‘half-smart’ AI risks inheriting this left bias, seeing our divisive traits as purely bad and pushing to censor or override them—amplifying denial rather than resolution.

If so, our answer is that Jeremy Griffith’s work brings biological understanding to all the concepts contained in the Bible, which he acknowledges as being a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth about human life, albeit from a pre-scientific view. Yes, mechanistic science has founds bits of the truth, but it has taken Jeremy Griffith to truly confront the human condition and explain that we come from a cooperative heritage which we corrupted as the result of the emergence of consciousness.     Without Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition, the truth is that the world was approaching terminal alieanation, which Jeremy has written about in Freedom Essay 55 ‘Endgame for the human race’. However, with that redeeming, and rehaibilitating explanation now found, everything changes, and fast! Thanks very much Mara. Nowhere is the paradox of the human condition more evident than in politics. The fundamental philosophical explanation of the left and right wings is, as THE Interview explains, that freedom of thought and individualism, sustained by the incentives of materialism and capitalism which right-wing constitutions uphold, are what maintained humanity’s heroic search for knowledge, ultimately for self-knowledge. And so paradoxically it was the right-wing that actually held the moral high ground and the left-wing that posed the real threat to humanity due to the fact that its dogmatically imposed pseudo-idealism gravely endangers freedom of thought and the search for understanding. Now the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition has at last been solved we can understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wings of politics and bring the whole necessary but ugly business of politics to an end (see our FAQs about politics).

Hi Patrick, what is presented does open up a new paradigm, so it does take some time to absorb, however, as you will see, the central concept is actually very simple. Essentially, when we humans developed a conscious mind some 2 million years ago, a battle unavoidably developed between it and our already established cooperative instincts. The result of this conflict between our instinct and intellect was that we became psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric – the upset state we refer to as the human condition. But now that we can explain and understand this conflict, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition. Robert, there is a lot to digest here, but we hope you persevere, because what is so significant about the explanation of the human conditon is that this understanding defends our so-called ‘dark side’ and explains that despite all appearances to the contrary, all humans are ‘good’. We can understand the battle between our intellect and our cooperative instincts caused us to become psychologically angry, alienated and egocentric, the upset state we refer to as the human condition. Now that we can understand this conflict all those insecure behaviours, such as greed, are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from that state and can legitimately return to a cooperative way of living.

This new science presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking so it does take a little time to see how it can address your concerns but it actually does and can turn things around quickly because it explains and solves the underlying cause of all our selfishness, anger and egocentricity which is causing this destruction and suffering. We also suggest you re-watch THE Interview because, as Jeremy Griffith explains in Part 4, while we lacked the real defence of understanding our corrupted condition, we absolutely needed the artificial defence and reinforcement of seeking power, fame, fortune and glory but now our fundamental goodness has been established that way of living is completely obsoleted. In his definitive book FREEDOM, par 1232, Jeremy writes about how quickly this information will repair the world: “Importantly, the more this understanding and associated transformation catches on, the easier it will be for people to move from the old insecure, ego-centric way of living to the new, secure, ego-less way of living. The egocentric way of living has had such a powerful hold on humans because without understanding of the human condition all that we had was the superficial reinforcement we gained from seeking power, fame, fortune and glory, but now that relieving understanding has been found then that old egocentric way of living will quickly lose its power—so quickly, in fact, that everyone will be amazed by how swiftly their need for and attachment to the old artificial forms of reinforcement falls away.” And the best news is this transformation is happening! There is much to digest, but explanation of the human condition reveals that the human race started out innocent and then became increasingly corrupted as a result of the heroic search for knowledge. This key insight allows us to understand that ‘races’ (ethnic groups), who have been relatively sheltered from humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, will be more ‘innocent’, or less psychologically upset, than those ‘races’ more exposed to the battle. This explains why indigenous peoples have so much affinity with our instinctive soulful, cooperative way of living and the natural world; however, even indigenous peoples are only ‘relatively’ innocent, because all humans are now part of the extremely upset stage of humanity, H. sapiens sapiens, and are therefore nowhere near as innocent as humans were some two million years ago when the battle of the human condition first emerged. But, what is most significant, is that despite the differing levels of upset due to everyone’s different exposure to humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, we can now understand that we are all equally good. Thank you for your comment Laurie and yes healing for us must begin with honesty and at last we have the human-condition-confronting-and-solving, truthful scientific explanation of our conflicted human condition. Most importantly, biologist Jeremy Griffith explains why we haven’t been loving, nurturing and kind. It is only the defence of our ‘dark side’, through finding the good reason that we had to defy our instincts, that would allow us to act with love and compassion, because only now are all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) redundant. We no longer need them because we have the real defence for why we had to defy our instincts. So, astonishingly, now the human condition is solved and our existence is made sense of we can ‘legitimately’ return to our natural loving state. ‘Legitimately’ because at last we have the first principle-based science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So this breakthrough depended on science not the guidance of benevolent unseen forces. This critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the New Age Movement is explained in FAQ 6.5.

Hi Juanita, Part 4 of THE Interview titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’, presents the answer to how this understanding allows us to transform our lives and fix the world. It explains that it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses importantly we can be immediately free of its effects. Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world.
