Lawrence

I’ve listened attentively to the interview and would be getting the book shortly. My question is, how does the knowledge from this interview assist the very poor in our society. Thanks all the same Jeremy !!!

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment, Lawrence. While this biological understanding of the human condition really is the universal solution to all the problems we face, it does have a slow start-up phase. It will take some time to break through fixed patterns of thought, as well as the bastions of power in the world, but once this information gets a foothold through enough people like you developing a deep appreciation and desire to support it, the selfless love and energy that will generated will solve our problems very quickly because instead of being preoccupied with seeking seeking power, fame, fortune etc, all our energies will be freed to truly work together and focus on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering in all the corners of the world. Exactly right!!! It’s hard to believe this is becoming a reality. I am overly thrilled. Thank you for the amazing video. Although I only focused on the what and the how, staying away from the why, it was an amazing piece. This could not have been possibles without freethinkers like us. Thank you❤️🌎

WTM Admin

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment Matthew. Yes, take your time and absorb the magnificent fact that the human condition has now been solved, and then when you are ready you can watch THE Interview again and you will find that the ‘why’ of the human condition is explained just as rationally and accountably as the ‘what’ and the ‘how’! The truth is that now that our fundamental goodness has been biologically established all aspects of the human condition are made safe to approach and the lights of understanding at last come on for everyone! As you say it’s hard to believe this could be a reality.

Doug Kelly

Thanks much. I think I see a light finally shining on the human condition.

Yaw Peasah

Listening to commentaries I think Griffith’s idea is such a milestone in the journey of psychiatry.

Lana Myrick

I just really don’t understand what you are saying. I do know no one can change the whole world or stop the cruelty of some people. Some people are just born evil.

WTM Admin

Hi Lana, the human condition has historically been an off-limits subject, and as a result people can find it difficult to take in or ‘hear’ discussion of it (see FAQ 1.16). You might find our FAQ 1.3 helpful as it gives a brief overview of what is presented in THE Interview and we also suggest our FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’.

Hazel Robson

I’ve been listening for over 30 minutes and if this is the answer for the human race I’m sorry but there is little hope for us - the language, the reasoning is so complex and extremely difficult to follow that I fear the majority of the human race will lose the will to live before they ever understand it. Sorry but so disappointed no light bulbs have appeared yet for me.

Pastor Abraham

This is a wonderful work put together. The human being is in two parts, the physical and spiritual. As a biologist, the job is great as regards the the physical being, what about the spiritual which is over and above the physical and it caps all about the human being without which the human problem is still very much unsolved. It’s knowing and getting the spiritual solution that matters which also solves completely the human problem.

WTM Admin

Thank you very much for your consideration Pastor Abraham. We agree that for there to be a solution to the conflicted human condition we have to explain or ‘know’ the spiritual dimension of humans. Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition explains how our conscious mind (the physical) became alienated from our loving, cooperative instinctive self or soul (the spiritual), resulting in a universal psychosis. As he points out in THE Interview, the word ‘psychosis’ literally means ‘soul-illness’ and ‘psychiatry’ literally means ‘soul-healing’ (derived as they are from psyche meaning ‘soul’, osis meaning ‘abnormal state or condition’ and iatreia meaning ‘healing’). And, significantly, a psychosis is changeable as it can be healed through understanding! And we suggest that the more you digest this explanation, the more you will see that even though it is rational and accountable, it actually enhances the ‘spiritual’ dimension of life through making it understandable. We thought you might find our FAQs about religion of interest, in particular FAQ 6.7 ‘How can a scientific explanation ever hope to account for and encompass the great ‘spiritual’ dimension we know exists in life? / Isn’t ‘spirituality’ beyond a purely rational explanation?’. Also FAQ 1.26 ‘What is soul, have we all got one, has it been repressed, and if so, how do we rehabilitate it?’ is most relevant to your thoughts.

Wild Bill

Absolutely amazing I will continue to follow you

Mary

I think you just explained away our need for Our Savior, Jesus Christ. Not buying it! The truth is we disobeyed God and the turmoil began at that moment when we became aware of good and evil. The fall of man. Thus began the war within mankind. It took Gods son to save us! 🙏✝️❤️

Shirley Landry

Amen Mary, although interesting, does not explain the One Book that has with- Stood all of time! I believe in My Father God and His Son died for our Sins -so that we have an understanding of who we are is by the Blood of Jesus!

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Mary. We certainly respect people’s religious views and feel it is important to mention that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view (see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’). He also considers Christ to be one of the greatest, most sound (still able to access the truthful world of his soul), denial-free thinking prophets in history and has written about Christ’s life and its phenomenal importance in humanity’s journey in Freedom Essay 39. What we are suggesting is we can now with the benefit of science, bring clarifying, first-principle biological explanation to our fallen so-called ‘good and evil’-afflicted human condition and why we had to depart from our original innocence, whilst religion had to rely on metaphor and a more literal interpretation.

Patricia

All world leaders and their followings should be aware of such explanations and findings

Jennifer I Galick

I know people are cruel and selfish. Hope you can show them a better way to be.

WTM Admin

Hi Jennifer, THE Interview explains all humans are born with loving moral instincts but we now variously suffer from a psychosis due to a psychologically upsetting clash between those instincts and our emerging conscious mind which causes our selfishness and potential to be cruel. Significantly a psychosis is changeable as it can be healed through understanding—a revelation that can transform the human race! See FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’

SÅ spændende❣️ [SO Exciting (translated from Danish)]

Janet

I wish I’d read the WTM Admin’s comments first- what great summaries!

Janet

This was both interesting and extremely difficult to listen to. He speaks too quickly, added to the accent and ruddy voice, and as much as I wanted to listen, I was scanning through to try to hear his point. He needs to alter his presentation method from ‘story’ style- building his case (which is similar to people selling something on the internet but taking 20 minutes to actually get to the point) to stating his position, and then giving the reasons he feels proves this, then summarize. Unless he does this, people will find it difficult to follow and will stop listening- as I nearly did. People don’t want their science in an unwinding story, but with the premise up front. This is more powerful, and gives greater weight. Now that I’ve located- about half way through- and understood the premise, I will search again for the ‘nervous system vs consciousness’ arguments. I suggest that you don’t weave Adam and Eve into this until much later, as this symbolism added before a clear physical explanation will also loose people.

I am adding all this because I agree with your points, and want it stated more clearly. Try to figure out how to write and say it as though it were a Ted Talk- concise! Thank you!

WTM Admin

We do appreciate your perseverance, and your thoughts, Janet. We suggest that as you digest this understanding, and begin to gain more appreciation of just how historically off-limits the subject of the human condition has been, and therefore how much denial everyone has put in place to cope with it, that you will come to appreciate the approach that THE Interview takes. Because of this denial, people have difficulty ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition (see FAQ 1.16), and so Jeremy Griffith has learnt through decades of trial and error that simply starting with the instinct vs intellect premise does not work, because people won’t even admit that the human condition exists! And so what Jeremy does at the outset of THE Interview is establish that the human condition is real, which is really done incredibly quickly, and following that he then raises – and exposes – the common excuse that many people use for our selfish behaviour, which is that we have ‘savage’, must-reproduce-our-genes instincts. It is only with those two issues taken care of that people are then in a position to ‘absorb’ the fundamental ‘instinct vs intellect’ premise. That being said, the essential ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation is presented in Part 1 using the Adam Stork analogy, so it does appear as soon as possible. Also we wanted to note that many people find the story of Adam and Eve (which is discussed in Part 2 after ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation) very helpful because it is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts.

Barba red a Hudson

Too deep for me and I’ve had three college psychology courses!!!🤔

WTM Admin

Hi Barba, we suggest you read our reply to Janet above which explains our historic fear of the subject of the human condition has meant that until it was solved we have sensibly had to block it out of our minds. So it’s very common for people to initially find Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation difficult to access or ‘hear’, see FAQ 1.16. But with patience and perseverance this ‘Deaf Effect’ reaction can be overcome and the reward is the ultimate enlightenment — freedom from all the fears and horrors of the human condition. After watching THE Interview we recommend people watch The Great Guilt video because in it Jeremy gives an astonishingly interesting and important description of The Great Burden Of Guilt that has finally been lifted from the human race, and the ‘Deaf Effect’ its lifting typically causes us to initially experience.

Trey

This is absolutely spot on and rings completely true with me. However, I fear it may be years, decades are more before enough people awaken to this precious truth to free us from the present , rampant, destructive evils of the current oligarchic socioeconomic system.

WTM Admin

It is great this is resonating so much with you Trey. As with any new scientific breakthrough in history it will take time to gain mainstream acceptance, and from there break through the bastions of power in the world. However once this information gets a foothold, through enough people developing a deep appreciation and desire to support it, the selfless love and energy that will generate will solve our problems very quickly because, as THE Interview explains, instead of being selfishly preoccupied with power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together and focus on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering in all the corners of the world. We are sure you will find FAQ 1.40 helpful as it addresses the questions of ‘Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. It explains that “Even those who were most committed to defensively seeking validation through gaining power and material goods, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level.”

Christopher Enuke

I would like to listen and study this mor so as to understand cleanly the purity of this idea , but my mind is sparked and instinctively understand and appreciate the premise of choice and evolution .

Grazie grazie grazie. [It is marvellous that science has finally discovered the rational answer to the condition in which all of humanity finds itself. I have been able in recent years to heal the personality split I was in due to my natural behaviour as I am empathetic and sensitive and versed in compassion I was always denigrated and so alienated for years and years of my life. I am extremely grateful to the biologist who brought up this immensely important topic. Thank you thank you thank you (translated from Italian).]

Michael

It’s very inspiring.

H Reynolds

What do we do with Putin?

WTM Admin

THE Interview explains that humans’ need for power and domination is not driven by us having ‘savage’ animal instincts but by a psychosis caused by a clash between our intellect and cooperative instincts. So we can now understand that human aggression and anger, even the most extreme expressions of it, is psychological in origin and ultimately a symptom of the human condition. We recommend you watch THE Interview and then read Freedom Essay 29, ‘Can human conflict ever be bought to an end’ and our FAQ 4.2 titled Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour? is most helpful.

Harish Patel

Truly an eye opener. It may answer obliquely Yuval Noah Harari 's apprehensions. One will require one life-time to evolve to live and have experiential maturity of “The Real Man”. - Harish Patel

WTM Admin

Yes Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is truly an eye-opener Harish! It is very different to the work of Yuval Noah Harari (author of Sapiens) who, among other huge dissimilarities, doesn’t recognise our instinctive heritage as being cooperative but rather promotes the savage instincts excuse for our psychological upset that Jeremy discusses in THE Interview. And as Jeremy explains in Part 1, “it is actually really good news that our behaviour is due to a conscious-mind-based psychologically troubled condition because psychoses can be healed with understanding”. So yes, this real explanation of the human condition should answer everyone’s apprehensions about humanity’s future.     Finally, with regard to the need of a complete life-time to fully embrace this redeeming and reconciling understanding and become a “real man”, to quote Jeremy again, this time from Part 4 of THE Interview: “while it will take a number of generations to heal all the upset in us humans, everyone can immediately live free of their upset…In fact, to continue using the old artificial defences of retaliation, denial and the search for relieving power, fame, fortune and glory when our fundamental goodness has been established is not only clearly pointless but also unnecessarily destructive of ourselves, everyone around us and our planet. That way of living is now completely obsoleted, finished with.” And as Craig Conway then summed it up “our artificial ways of reinforcing ourselves are obsoleted by the real reinforcement of ourselves. One way of living ends, a new one begins, free of the human condition—phew, thank God for that!!”

Arnold, Dann

Wow ,that was so simple yet the brilliant presentation I have ever heard , in my early years of Faith ! ,I read the journals of those wonderful old trail blazers in George Whitefield ,And John and Charles Wesley it nurtured my faith , Wow the Lord works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform !

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Arnold. The study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. As the Nobel prize-winning physicist Charles H. Townes recognised, science and religion “both represent man’s efforts to understand his universe and must ultimately be dealing with the same substance. As we understand more in each realm, the two must grow together…converge they must.” And this is what Jeremy Griffith work does. It reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to religion’s pre-scientific descriptions of our condition (see our FAQs about religion).

Frederick Mthembu

It is informative and heals the mind from the subconscious mind of self critisising my intelect for a very long time . My dreams were waiting for this break through . Thanks Griffith for your effort and guidance. Now I felt so relieved.

Maurice Chirimi

Interesting observations. But how does humanity collectively press the reset button to return us to an uncorrupted condition? I’m also interested in translating available material to Swahili language to reach a wider audience .

WTM Admin

Hi Maurice, we can reset and return an uncorrupted state because we now have the ability, for the first time, to understand every aspect of human behaviour and our behaviour will change naturally as a result! At last we can understand we have been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because at last we have the first principle-based science which liberates us to be honest about our corrupted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. This is the rapidly transforming practical effect of being able to understand the human condition which is fully explained and illustrated on our Transformation page. Also FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 explain the far-reaching application of this information and Freedom Essay 15 is all about ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith as there is so much helpful discussion taking place there about how this immensely redeeming and relieving knowledge transforms our lives!     Thank you for your very generous offer to translate Jeremy’s work into Swahili! The best way to do this is to contact us here so we can coordinate our efforts as we have a global network of appreciative supporters who have translated THE Interview and many other pubications into many languages, see FAQ 3.9 for what translations are available. It is also worth mentioning until more translations are available people can watch THE Interview (and all the videos on our website) with subtitles in their native language (use the closed captions or subtitles function by clicking on the ‘cc’ icon at the bottom of the video player/window).

John Elliott

Wow this was very fascinating considering the state of this world we are in, and make’s us all understand why and what the problem’s are. As this is greatly needed very much appreciated let’s hope more of the left will see this and realise the damage they are doing

WTM Admin

Yes John at last we can understand what the problem is which thankfully brings a profound understanding to both sides of politics and ultimately end the whole, now horrifically polarised, world of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Wonderful insight

James crane

The purpose of mankind is to love just as the mentioned monkeys...bonobos ...odd how it is that science seems to swallow mountains but choke on gnats...

WTM Admin

Yes, as FAQ 1.2 explains, unable to confront the human condition, science has been mechanistic and reductionist, and what’s more, has denied the existence of our psychologically troubled human condition, blaming our selfish behaviour on ‘savage instincts’ within us. And that is where the human race has been stalled, waiting in an increasingly distressed state for the real explanation for our psychologically troubled human condition that will finally make sense of the riddle of human life. That is, until now—because that human-mind-liberating, psychosis-relieving REAL scientific explanation has at last been delivered!

JohnBruce Kennedy

Is this trying to replace ALL religions?

WTM Admin

The study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Moreover, what people discover is that this redeeming explanation of the human condition represents the fulfillment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves. You might find our FAQs about religion interesting.

Bertrand Russel was concerned about hindering free flow of emotional life, but could not find a suitable alternative. The school he started to provide free the child from any emotional hindrance became an emotional catastrophe.😊🙂

WTM Admin

Yes, until the human condition was solved, we have had to ‘civilize’ our emotions, because they were too often destructive reflections of our tortured state. It is only now with the human condition solved, that humanity will be able to return to an unshackled loving emotional state.

Teddy Mburu

Very Insightful. We have hidden our psychological problems with superficial, materialistic items smothering our real problems of the soul.

Judy Mac

Very captivating. I pray that more people will take time out to listen to what the human race is all about

Excellent

Alarape Emmanuel Olamide

I have to listen and listen all over again. Fantastic! It’s about understanding your instincts, loving others and your level of defensive aggressiveness which we don’t need in the first place that makes us always competitive. New revolution of human condition.

WTM Admin

The only thing we would clarify Alarape, is that our ‘defensive aggresiveness’ was actually warranted. Without the explanation of why we had to defy our instincts (which is presented in THE Interview), we had no choice but to become defensive, which resulted in us becoming psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated. Thankfully, with the real defence now available, all those behaviours are now redundant!

Curtis Balls

What silly nonsense. The man rattled on for half hour and said nothing that was actionable or coherent. He just concluded with a blanket condemnation of socialism. Yawn! Right wing blather.

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work certainly doesn’t excuse the right-wing for its corrupting behaviour, nor unfairly focus on the failing of the left, which is that its insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing the search for knowledge, but rather brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics, see www.humancondition.com/frequently-asked-questions/#about-politics/

Sarah

So we were not all born sinners then, one thing I would never except, like the bible says we are.

WTM Admin

Yes, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! It establishes that we are good and not bad after all. What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race and allows us to forgive ourselves and others and finally end our psychologically troubled human condition—it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough.

Pam

This is so freaking amazing! I have always felt alien in the way I think, believe and feel. It is truly wondrous to realize I am not alien. Thank you thank you thank you! I pray this message spreads to all corners of the universe. I love the quote “the truth shall set you free”. I believe this philosophy to be the truth and this truth is the free we all need. I pray for open minds and hearts in all people. 🙏💗

Michael Ryan

Thank you! Need to get & read all! 🙌❤️🙏🏼

Jonathan Whitehead

Following comprehension.

Chental wilson

Profound and exciting absolutely need this message at this time in humanity! Truth delivered with compassion is the way forward! I set myself free by delivering my own truth but the ultimate key was in my delivery I stopped fighting and feeling bad about who and what I was and did! I learned that thru unconditional love for myself I no longer needed the conflict of the internal judge and this set me free🙏💗 Our energy and vibration is the invisible magical power to heal! Ourselves and the world! Love and fear cannot co exist so lead with love and love of self! Our fears only put others in their fears so this cannot be the path forward! Lead with love of self has to be the first step! 💗 So enjoyed this talk 🙏

WTM Admin

Hi Chental, it is as you say so profound and exciting to finally have the human condition solved and be able to legitimately return to our natural loving state. To do this science had to answer the the crux question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving and selfless are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith has answered with his ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world. We also recommend reading FAQ 6.5 which explains the critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the approach of New Age therapies.

James Jones

How do I go about getting your book?

WTM Admin

Hi James, Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM: The End Of The Human Condition is freely available on our homepage here (along with his other key books) to read online or download (no email required). You can also download the free Kindle version or purchase hard copies from Amazon. Hard copies are also available at other good bookstores.

Don McDermid

I totally agree with you. But you did not explain how to stop the guy with a gun or the guy with the biggest bomb. You see, this is usually when the people with the biggest club wipe out the people who do not want to fight. I feel the only direction is physical. I might be wrong, but please tell me how you plan on stopping the one person with the gun who does not believe. I believe we are more than what we are, but I also do not trust them ( the people). I know if they do not understand or feel scared they will fight whatever they think is causing the problem. Anyways I think what you are doing is cool. two thumbs up... Don

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment, Don. We are certainly in critical need of a deeper understanding of ourselves so we can put an end to all the suffering and fear that our condition creates as well as the seeming need to resort to an ‘arms race’ when conflict arises. And we suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise that it is not just accountable in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset, but how, because it is a compassionate understanding, even the most angry and power hungry will see that they are being defended, not criticised, and so will embrace the understanding, which is why it will ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate ‘upset’ everywhere (see FAQ 1.38 ‘How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’). We also recommend FAQ 1.40 which addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Kuini Hakopa

I need to listen to this over and over again. It was so powerful, insightful and humbling. Life has taken on a new meaning and I am blessed to be present. Thank you

Amrit Bodani

Psychiatric disorders are biological not psychological

WTM Admin

Thank you Amrit. We do suggest the more you absorb what is presented in THE Interview the more you will realise that humans’ psychological upset is not a product of chemicals or biology but the result of a universal psychosis, caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect. It’s worth including psychiatrist Professor Prosen’s words here about how powerful our psychology is in causing our behaviour, “While we can expect instances of neurochemical/neurobiological based conditions, in my experience we can’t underestimate how much our psychology affects our biology” (see FAQ 1.34). And in his Introduction to Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, Professor Prosen included the following quote, “An opinion piece by Benjamin Y. Fong of the University of Chicago that was published in The New York Times in 2013 made this very point: ‘The real trouble with the Brain Initiative is…the instrumental approach…[such biological reduction is] intent on uncovering the organic “cause”…of mental problems…rather than looking into psychosocial factors…By humbly claiming ignorance about the “causes” of mental problems…neuroscientists unconsciously repress all that we know about the alienating, unequal, and dissatisfying world in which we live and the harmful effects it has on the psyche, thus unwittingly foreclosing’ the ability to ‘alleviate mental disorder’ (‘Bursting the Neuro-Utopian Bubble’, 11 Aug. 2013; see http://www.wtmsources.com/151>). So yes, while it is tempting to ascribe mental disorders to biology, it is a very limited approach. By contrast, Griffith’s understanding of our psychosis presents an understanding of, and solution to, the actual source of our damaged upset human condition and this is what is so unique and transforming about his work.

Theresa

I am finding a confirmation in what he is saying not being a scientist and have not been main stream but in my own experience of thought have considered these foundational truths.

Roger Awad

Jeremy Griffith’s theory is intriguing and I look forward to reading more on the subject. We certainly need this transformation of the human condition because I feel we are in an unrecoverable downward spiral that is out of control.

Justin Turnbull

Love is the answer and love this interview. It’s so simple, the man make real sense on a subject that created fear in man

Alex Kweku Amoesi Kodwiw

What is the peer review or critique of these views. very interesting.

WTM Admin

Hi Alex, Jeremy Griffith’s biological treatise of the human condition has significant scientific support but is not yet widely accepted by the mechanistic scientific establishment. This is not unexpected given it is a holistic and induction-derived scientific work; see FAQ 1.7 ‘What scientific support does this have’.

Patricia Rodríguez

Thank you so much for this great interview

Javier Gonzalez

Very interesting. Gurdjief explains this from another perspective and in another language. But I think they are talking about the same thing.

WTM Admin

Thanks Javier. Yes, Gurdjieff did recognise the elements of instinct and intellect in creating the human condition, however he could not explain what was different about them that caused them to come into conflict. In the following passage from Freedom Expanded, Jeremy Griffith writes about Gurdjieff and other thinkers who have recognised the instinct and intellect elements: "In the 1930s the philosopher George Gurdjieff wrote Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson, a novel in which he recognised that man is a ‘three-brained being’—one brain for the spirit (intellect), one for the soul (the emotional instinctive self) and one for the body (the primitive, foundation part of our mind). The outstanding question is what particularly is it about the differences between our old brain and new brain that causes them to be in conflict? Why are they uncoordinated? Humans have known since time immemorial that they have conflicting parts of themselves, in particular an altruistic conscience that condemns any divisive behaviour that our conscious mind might put into practice. People have even questioned whether the explanation of the human condition that I put forward is original, citing others such as Arthur Koestler or Paul MacLean or Plato or Gurdjieff as having previously recognised the instinct versus intellect conflict. What is significant is that none of the other accounts recognised that the conflict between our instinct and intellect occurred because instincts are only orientations so when the insightful nerve-based learning system became sufficiently able to understand cause and effect to wrest management of self from the instincts the instinctive orientations would have challenged that takeover, leaving the intellect no choice other than to defy that resistance, with that necessary defiance being the explanation for our angry, egocentric and alienated human-condition-afflicted state. Once seen it is an extremely obvious explanation for our human condition, but as biologist Allan Savory recognised, ‘whenever there has been a major insoluble problem for mankind, the answer, when finally found, has always been very simple’."     We also recommend Freedom Essay 53: The instinct vs intellect treatise is obvious.

Alex

Great inspiration! Thanks for sharing this knowledge, it all make sense now.

Bernadette Cruz

I’m learning a lot with this interview. This is new to me, but I still want to read your book before I can give a clear comment.

Amy

This was fascinating.. still leaving me with questions so I think I will purchase the book. My thought was that if the instinct towards compassion is harbored by nurturing in early life, that a lack of nurturing could be a part of the bigger problem that is seen in modern busy culture to much stress and business to make the children feel safe, nurtured and valued... leading to more imbalanced adults?

WTM Admin

Hi Amy, it’s great to have your interest. Absolutely, with Jeremy Griffith’s compassionate understanding of the human condition we can now appreciate that humanity’s necessary preoccupation with finding knowledge compromised our ability to nurture, but now that that preoccupation ends we can safely acknowledge the absolute importance of nurturing in our species’ development (see also Freedom Essay 21) and in the individual development of children (see chapter 8:16C of FREEDOM on ‘The dire consequences of terminal levels of alienation destroying our ability to nurture our children’).     We also wanted to let you know that FREEDOM and Jeremy’s other key books including a booklet version of THE Interview, are freely available on our homepage here to read online, print and download. You can also purchase hardcopies and download free Kindle versions from Amazon.

Ayodele Olojede

Looks like the beginning of another religious movement essentially building on the foundation of forgiveness and love as espoused by Christ and other inspirers of world faiths. It will totally free humanity from the self imposed generational sin.

WTM Admin

Hi Ayodele, this is not another religion; what Jeremy Griffith is presenting is first principle-based, rational, testable, biological understanding of the human condition which has attracted the support of eminent scientists and thinkers (see our homepage). There is no faith or belief involved, it’s all about knowledge. This realm of inquiry is, however, where science and religion overlap—as the Nobel prize-winning physicist Charles H. Townes recognised, science and religion “both represent man’s efforts to understand his universe and must ultimately be dealing with the same substance. As we understand more in each realm, the two must grow together…converge they must.” We recommend reading our FAQ 6.1 ‘Is this a religion?’

Sharon Chevalier

Awesome! This makes so much sense and answers many questions. I feel a click internally, like the last piece of the puzzle. I’m excited to share this, especially with many friends who are free thinkers. Also hoping this spreads as fast as possible, but I am wondering if one generation is enough time. So many people are stuck in dogma. Thank you for sharing this amazing scientific explanation of the human condition.

Renu

Human behaviour is too complex, influenced by too many, changing so often that to observe, understand, analyse, explain as the result of a few factors according to me is not satisfactory. Everything contributes towards any behavior which in turn becomes one of the causes for the result

WTM Admin

It is true that our behaviour can seem complicated to the point of not being possible to every truly understand, but we suggest that with Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition, it is possible to now understand all human behaviour. Understanding that all humans have been involved in the corrupting search for knowledge and suffer from a fundamental insecurity over their self-worth makes all human behaviour suddenly transparent! We understand that this is a huge claim, but suggest that the more you consider this explanation, the more you will realise that it is true!

Justina

Fascinating. I will recommend this interview to my family and friends.

Julian Broomes

Absolutely groundbreaking! What my subconscious self has been telling me for years, and I couldn’t understand why. I’m already starting to feel free of the burden of guilt I have been carrying most of my life. I am truly looking forward to learning more on this movement.

Ravi Suryavansi

Fascinating content I would like to add that altruistic behaviour is the ultimate answer to this human condition It will probably take a generation to reach the goal of saving humanity It’s not the scientists or people that can expedite recovery but world leaders and so called influencers

WTM Admin

Thanks very much Ravi, it’s wonderful to have your interest in these world-saving answers. While it necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish as the selflessness it liberates in people will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet, including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can (see FAQ 1.5). And this momentum is building; apart from the ecstatic responses, our homepage shows the rapidly growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world! Also, every day more people join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith to share in this transforming knowledge so we hope you do too!     You may also find FAQ 1.40 most helpful as it answers the question ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’.

Benabdelkrim

[At first sight it would be a question of a cavalier initiative which without excitement on my part tries with a rather daring penetration to establish a new vision accompanied by an unprecedented way of opening up another perspective of evolution. And to progress in a world that would be the ideal prized by human beings for ages, congratulations for the effort accomplished, that said, remains to be experienced in order to be validated, good luck! Love to read this book

Sujata Das

When 80% of our behaviour is governed by our unconscious mind, how can we b completely conscious and b loving etc. He should address the control of the unconscious. Vipassana meditation teaches mastery of mind by not reacting to any stimulation.

WTM Admin

THE Interview explains that our unconscious mind is not made up of ‘selfish instincts’ influencing our conscious behaviour, but loving and cooperative instincts that the conscious mind has had to repress due to a psychosis resulting from a clash between our instincts and intellect. Practices such as meditation have been invaluable tools in helping us cope with the upset human condition, calm the troubled mind and access our soul, but they have failed to produce a lasting solution to the destruction and devastation we see all around us. Fundamentally they are about escaping the pain in our brains, rather than confronting and solving it, which is what Jeremy Griffith’s treatise does; only through solving this pain at its source can we stop the devastation that we humans are causing, see FAQ 6.5 ‘Is this just another self-help, New Age, pseudo idealistic, superficial-treatment-of-psychosis type movement?’

Dian Mary Duncan

Looking forward to learning more about this mind blowing movement.

John Anarfi

Very awakening. It gives a glimmer of hope for mankind.

Thomas Clinton

I thought you were serious about ‘groundbreaking’.... Well hyped however, smart marketing

WTM Admin

We respect differing opinions Thomas and thank you for your comment. We did however want to include these FAQs which may help readers of these comments in their investigation of Jeremy Griffith’s treatise. FAQ 1.20 ‘What is the scientific evidence for this’ and FAQ 1.7 ‘What scientific support does this have’.

Geraldine Lloyd

Gobsmacked and awakening. Thank you Jeremy Griffith👏👏🙏🙏👏🙏

Jim F

I want to recommend Rutger Bregman’s Humankind A Hopeful History. We humans are loving and it is only government and entrenched power that perverts our behavior. Rousseau not Hobbes described our true nature.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your suggestion Jim. Yes, Rutger Bregman’s 2019 book Humankind: A Hopeful History does argue humans are innately good and cooperative. However, it wasn’t government and power that perverted our behaviour and caused us to become competitive and selfish, but the clash between our instincts and intellect, and so solving the human condition required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great breakthrough that Jeremy Griffith presents here in this interview. You might find Jeremy’s Freedom Essay 4; and also Freedom Essay 53 on other thinkers (which include a discussion of Jean-Jacques Rousseau) who have recognised instinct and intellect elements involved in creating the human condition most interesting.
