Wendy L Kaysing

I am 75 years old and have discovered that everything, and everyone, and be found on a spectrum. The best, the worst; the good, the bad; the kind, the cruel; Most people (law of averages) are in the middle - not extreme in their behavior and also many people moving back and forth between the good side and bad side, but some tend to say on one side or the other -- the very worst and very best of the population are on the opposite ends and the smallest number of humanity. Some flip completely from a bad extreme to the other via an epiphany, miracle, prayer, difficult circumstances, or? Others can flip from very good to very bad due to trauma, brain injury, bad experiences, rebellious spirit, or... P.S. My aunt who took care of older people, noticed that people when then get older tend to become more of how they were like when they were younger - if they were nice/kind/funny when they were younger they become more so in their old age. If they were unkind, cynical, negative when they were young, they become even more so as they age...not scientific at all - just my sweet old aunts observation as a companion to older folks. Let me ask a question: Why do good people watch terribly violent movies? I don’t understand that.

WTM Admin

Thank you Wendy for your thoughts and question. It takes time to fully absorb all that is explained in THE Interview but what you will start to realise is that we all variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition. In the extreme, that psychologically conflicted upset state produces extremely destructive behaviour, the “very worst” of humanity. Now that we can understand that we suffer from a psychologically upset state, we can make sense of religion (see our FAQs on Religion) and understand why, when people’s psychosis becomes too unbearable, they can have an “epiphany, miracle, prayer” and “flip”. We do suggest that the extent to which our psychological state of “good” or “bad” has been due to physical circumstances such as injury has been overstated. As Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association said, “While we can expect instances of neurochemical/neurobiological based conditions, in my experience we can’t underestimate how much our psychology affects our biology.” (See FAQ 1.34). The answer to “Why do good people watch terribly violent movies?” can be answered once you understand the extent of this upset within us and how we’ve tried to civilise it. It follows that at times that anger must express itself and watching violent movies can be a way of expressing our own violence inside or a way of breaking through the deadening levels of alienation we suffer from – those movies are a way of ‘feeling something’. Jeremy says, “While we have learnt to significantly restrain and conceal—‘civilise’ as we refer to it—the phenomenal amount of upset within us, under the surface we all must be boiling with rage, and sometimes, when our restraint can no longer find a way to contain it, that anger must express itself—hence our capacity for shocking acts of cruelty, sadism, hate, murder and war.”

Anacleto Mercader

I so much agree that science is the only hope in changing corrupt world society, but capitalism is the source of all evil of exploitation and money worshiping are root of greediness.

WTM Admin

Hi Anacleto, we suggest the more you digest this presentation, the more you realise that the human condition is the "root of greediness”; our anger and egocentricity and the associated drive for material wealth are symptoms of our insecure, human condition afflicted state. It follows that if you address that underlying insecurity, then our greed (along with all our other artificial sources of reinforcement) will be removed. And that is what this understanding does – it addresses and solves that core insecurity about our self-worth. In fact, this redeeming, uplifting and healing explanation of the human condition is SO liberating and SO exciting that it won’t be long be everyone realises that it is completely pointless to keep trying to compensate for their insecurity through the pursuit of power, fortune and glory. You might be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful?’

Humanity’s great journey to find understanding is over, and our generation is lucky enough to be at the vanguard of that great homecoming. Everything you have looked for is here Daniel.

G. Hackwith

I love this dialogue on the human condition. I Believe that the human condition has been exploited by religious factions throughout time. So in fact it is the Religious factions of the world which have Propagated the Reality in which we currently Dwell. So this information is invaluable in breaking free from the programs which have been deeply installed into the very fabric of our Being-Ness. I was raised catholic and going against them is not good. I am Grateful for your success in the distribution of this Knowledge. May this Information Be -Come our Highest Truth. So Mote It Be. Gee

WTM Admin

Hi G. Hackwith, thank you for your comment and good wishes. The human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ and is therefore the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Jeremy Griffith’s treatise actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. With regard to religious doctrine, with this explanation we can understand the more upset people became, the more they needed to try to obey the ‘Godly’ ideals of life that religions taught, but the problem was such condemnation of upset behaviour could be extremely terrorising and oppressive. Obviously what was desperately missing was reconciling understanding of our upset behaviour and the Godly ideals; reconciling understanding of the human condition in fact—which is exactly what Jeremy presents us with. So no longer does anybody have to be terrorised by religious dogma. They can understand what such religious doctrine was providing (even though it could be hurtful) and the great role religions played in humanity’s journey (see FAQ 6.3 about understanding religion). What is also so significant and relieving about Jeremy’s explanation is we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can know our psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story represents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. So with these understandings we can be free from the human condition at last!!

Larry Guidry

God blessed this man and movement

Thank You lord

WTM Admin

Thank you for your heartfelt comment Larry. We wanted to clarify Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t exclude or contradict a belief in God, or Christianity, it simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact, Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. Although this is science, it is based on a ‘Godly’ nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained as being the personification of integrative meaning of life. You may have already read our FAQs about religion Larry but if not you may like to explore them, especially FAQ 6.2 What is the meaning of life? / What is the Integrative Meaning of existence? / What is ‘God’?? and FAQ 6.3 Does understanding of the human condition undermine a faith in religion or God? / How does this affect my personal religious practice?

Thank you for putting into words a truth I have always felt. Thank you for connecting the dots to create a picture of who we really are, and how to repair what society and science have taught us was human nature, giving us no hope of really healing ourselves and our world. If it’s human nature tgat means we are meant to be this way, and you have shown that is not true. We are meant to be the loving, nurturing, giving souls most of us know inside to be true. You have given hope, and knowledge on how to get where we need to be if we want to preserve our species, and the planet we call home. Knowledge and hope are the best things a suffering person/planet can have.

MANOLITO MIRANDA DELA CRUZ

I’ve watched interviewed people and saying that all the missing and unanswerable questions have been solved, and I want to be one of the person to prove it by my self.Thank you.

WTM Admin

That’s exactly what we encourage people do Manolito so we send you all our encouragement! As our FAQ 1.9 ‘Should people be sceptical’ explains, the absolutely astonishing claims being made about Jeremy Griffith’s treatise, such as Professor Harry Prosen (former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association) saying “I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race”, all withstand scrutiny as what Jeremy presents is 100% logic. The more people access what is being explained the more they realise the claims are actually true, and in time become deeply appreciated for their forthright honesty in indicating where the solution to our problems lies. Also, as THE Interview explains, the human condition is the most fearful of subjects because it’s the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad and our fear of this interface can make it hard to understand all that is explained in one viewing. Our FAQ 1.16 explains what is needed to overcome this initial ‘deaf effect’ is a preparedness to re-read and/or re-listen to what is being written or said so it is wonderful you are keen to explore this further Manolito.

Steven Cripe

I am an 80 year old still open to learning and growth. Sad to hear of Professor Prosen’s passing as he made the introduction to “Freedom” impossible to put down and read. I am interested in contacting Jeremy Griffith via email if that is possible. Have some questions about “the human condition” and the parallels of Mickey Newbury’s psychodelic lyrics of the 1967 hit “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” which was written about the dangers of LSD. Mickey also suffered from depression and many of his songs seemed to be saturated with the honesty about which Jeremy Griffith espounds in “Freedom”.

WTM Admin

It’s wonderful to have your interest Steven and to learn that Professor Harry Prosen’s introduction to Jeremy Griffith’s main book FREEDOM made it impossible for you to put it down! For those who aren’t aware Harry Prosen was a professor of psychiatry who worked in the field for over 60 years, including chairing two departments of psychiatry and serving as president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association. Professor Prosen was appointed one of 500 Specially Selected Fellows of the American College of Psychiatrists, and a Distinguished Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association. He was also psychiatric consultant to the Bonobo Species Preservation Society so his contribution to humanity was certainly extraordinary. Steven, you may like to read Professor Prosen’s obituary here on our website written by Jeremy which also details his extraordinary support of Jeremy’s work and his patronage of the WTM.     In terms of Mickey Newbury’s song you mention Jeremy does talk about the use of drugs in FREEDOM where he explains people have used them, among other things, to try and access the the truthful world of our soul. To quote the end of chapter 8:16C: “It should also be mentioned that when people prayed or chanted mantras or counted rosary beads they were trying to shut down their alienation-preoccupied mind in order to let through some of the truthful world of the soul. They were, in effect, trying to shatter their own defence. Fatigue, meditation, fasting, hallucinatory drugs, despair and faster-than-thought physical activities, such as scree-running, are other ways of achieving this breakthrough to the world of the soul.” Thankfully, with Jeremy’s explanation we at last have the understanding that reconciles all the polarities of life that existed under the duress of the human condition which brings an end to all our internal and external conflict that has plagued our lives and caused us such alienation and depression, allowing us at last to naturally return to the loving, cooperative world of our soul in a legitimate way. As WTM founding member Tony Gowing said in Freedom Essay 1 (about our historic fear of the subject of the human condition) “We conscious humans needed to be able to understand our way to freedom from our distressed condition; we needed relieving answers for our mind; as Jeremy often says, we needed brain food, not brain anaesthetic—and now, at last, and in the nick of time, we have it! Honestly, the wonder and relief of this biological insight is just endless!” Also you may enjoy reading Jeremy’s Freedom Essay 45 about prophetic songs which anticipate this time when the human condition can be explained.     Hopefully this reply helps with your questions Steven but always feel free to email us at [email protected] or via the contact form on every page of our website as we’re here to help! Also worth mentioning is our extensive FAQ facility here on our website which is an incredible resource to explore and you may like to subscribe to our free Mailing List where you will receive one Freedom Essay each week, occasional News Flashes and notifications for our Live Events.

An addendum to my previous contribution: A correction “non aggressive animals will die out before the aggressive animals, even within our own species “ In fairness, I admit that I did not watch the entire video. Your cause is noble but I believe your desire to change the human race by changing individual thoughts and behaviours is doomed to fail. Share what we have and what we can create equitably throughout the world even to the smallest creatures and we will survive in harmony until the end of our time on earth. Please keep pursuing this noble cause and we will find a way.

WTM Admin

Thank you for this addition Anonymous Contributor and for your good wishes which we greatly appreciate. Please see our full response to your original comment below which encourages you to watch the entire interview where Jeremy Griffith explains how all humans are born with loving, selfless instincts but we now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the unavoidable clash between these cooperative instincts and our emerging conscious mind. This psychosis manifests in aggressive and selfish behaviour but, most significantly, a psychosis can be healed with understanding – a revelation that transforms the human race – see FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’

Günther Thye

Thank you so much

Anonymous Contributor

I am not educated in this subject. However, it occurs to me that major influences on earth have not been fully considered when forming the basis of your theory. The major influences referred to above, in my view are stronger than any conscious will to rehabilitate toward a benevolent self aware human race. The first and most important being the survival instinct. The survival instinct humans have is the only reason we did not go the way of the Neanderthals. In order to survive, humans had to develop our aggressive kill or be killed instinct. No one can wave a magic wand and make us all become non aggressive benevolent animals at the same time. Therefore, those that work toward this transformation will be killed by either war or starvation by the remaining aggressors before the world transformation completes and it will be the survival of the fittest that will continue keep us moving in our current direction. Another major influence in our behavioural patterns is the Earth itself. It created the environment that allowed life to exist on this planet and develop to the level of intelligence we need to survive. And, it is the Earth (Universe) that will take it away. In the past , cataclysmic events have taken place on Earth that have changed the environmental conditions that have created famine and also mass extinction of many species of animals. When these events happen animals are forced to fight and kill to survive . The non aggressive animals die first. If we become non aggressive animals we will die before non aggressive animals, even within our own species (Human) . Our best chance is to eliminate individual and societal greed. Share what we have across the world, eliminate starvation and the need to fight for our survival. Only then we can live in harmony with nature until the Universe dictates otherwise.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your interest and thoughts Anonymous Contributor. Biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition explains that we became psychologically upset sufferers of the angry, egocentric and alienated human condition as the unavoidable result of a clash between our pre-established instincts and emerging conscious mind; that is it not an instinctive state. Certainly instincts normally have to have a selfish “survival of the fittest” orientation, but one of the revelations of Jeremy’s work is that humans have all-loving, cooperative instincts as a result of the Love-Indocrination process our ancestors underwent (a process mentioned in this interview and summarised in FAQ 5.2 ‘How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience?/ What do the nurtured and cooperative bonobos tell us about our own evolutionary heritage?’). This process allowed them to overcome genes’ normal selfishness. However, as Jeremy also explains, without the ‘instinct vs intellect’ defence for our upset state, mechanistic science has sought to falsely excuse our aggressive and greedy behaviour on ‘savage instincts’ within us; that we are, as you say, needing to rely on “our aggressive kill or be killed instincts” in order to survive. We suggest that with this true defence for our behaviour established, it is now possible to consider that there is clear evidence that humans developed from a cooperative and loving ancestor – of which the bonobos are a living model and which Jeremy discusses in Part 3 of this interview. And most significantly psychological upset or a psychosis can be healed with understanding, so our greedy and selfish behaviour is not unchangeable or immutable – a revelation that transforms the human race! As distinguished psychiatrist Professor Prosen’s wrote about the healing power of this explanation: “What Griffith is presenting is understanding of the source insecurity that the whole human race suffers from for having destroyed our species’ innocent soul. It is a universal self-blame that his understanding at last provides healing insight into. All human behavior is saturated with that universal insecure, depressing state and resulting anger, egocentricity and alienation that has developed from it, but we finally have the compassionate foundation insight needed to dismantle all that ‘upset’/ psychosis. So the real psychotherapy of our collective and individual psychoses can begin” (see FAQ 1.34). So this biological breakthrough at last frees us from the false excuse that we are driven by genetic selfishness or survival of the fittest but it takes a little time to work through our old way of thinking about biology so we encourage you to fully watch THE Interview and from there you might like to explore Freedom Essays 21 to 25 which detail Jeremy’s key biological explanations.

The biology of psychological phenomena is highly dependant on social milieu. European ontologies of human relationships with their environment have for last 6 centuries ignored the dependence of humans on others, thus creating an asymmetric emphasis on individualism. The biology of the impact of this asymmetry is not sufficient for effective treatment of emergent psychological problems engendered by social asymmetric individualism.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Victor. We don’t agree that “the biology of psychological phenomena is highly dependant on social milieu”. Human biology is remarkably uniform across different ethnic groups, as is, we suggest, the basic condition of psychological upset that beset humanity some 2 million years ago with the emergence of consciousness. The truth is that all humans are now to some extent psychologically upset, and therefore are all variously angry, aggressive and egocentric. Certainly there are different levels of upset, for example between Africans and Europeans etc, but when you factor in that different individuals and Ethnic groups have different levels of exposure to the human condition (due to their circumstances, some individuals or races have been more sheltered than others), you can see that the basic instinct vs intellect clash does account for all the different levels of “individualism” (in fact different levels of psychological upset) we see around the world. Most importantly, the key, compassionate insight that upset is not ‘bad’ allows us to reconcile the more upset with the less upset, which puts an end to all prejudices, see FAQ 9.1 about racism for example.     It takes some time to digest just how powerful this understanding of humanity’s fundamental goodness is, but we suggest that we now have the completely redeeming, uplifting and healing biological understanding of the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition—thus ending all the conflict and suffering in human life at its source, and providing the now urgently needed road map for the complete rehabilitation and transformation of our lives and world! We recommend FAQ 1.34 on ‘How does understanding the human race’s condition help with an individual’s depression and psychosis?’ It’s written by Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, who writes that “the beauty of Griffith’s treatise is that the healing starts at the macro level of the universal human condition; the healing of the shame and blame that the whole human race has suffered from…It brings the greater context and love to all human psychosis and suffering, and then, from under the umbrella of that safe position, everyone can gradually work inwards to their particular experience of all the imperfections in human life that have now, finally, been made sense of.”

Wow

Alonge A

This is absolutely amazing and mind enriching

Donna

So how does this enlightenment in reality become understood worldwide? It seems like an impossible task. It’s a wonderful ideal but how does this philosophy spread?

WTM Admin

Take heart Donna. This is not an ideal (or even a philosophy) but a rational, scientific defence of reality – of our psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated state. Which changes everything. Idealism has always failed because the corrupting search for knowledge still had to be completed, and until that happened, humanity had to continue to resist calls to just be cooperative and loving. Our FAQ 1.40 addresses the question ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’ and explains that even those who are most committed to seeking validation through gaining power and wealth, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, biological explanation of the human condition that establishes our worth at the most fundamental level. Basically, so exciting and relieving is this breakthrough, and the freedom from the human condition that is now on offer, that everyone will want it, and so it will catch on like wildfire and this is already happening. Just read the ecstatic responses THE Interview is receiving on our homepage and scroll down to see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world!

Absolutely, you nailed it Jeremy, Still no matter however humanoid survives, peer pressure belonging disconnect is mentally discourage whereas independency searches for safe haven, food, and belonging. My famous saying is, "think with your mind and not your heart, whereas the heart only pump blood, it doesn’t think with worth. Thank you Jeremy, sure enjoy your lecture.

WTM Admin

Thanks very much Ale. All we would add is that having lived all our lives in a human-condition-afflicted world, it is hard for us to imaging what life will actually be like once the human condition has been solved, and humans grow up free of its terrible strictures. In the future there will be no insecure “peer pressure” or egocentricity at all. We recommend FAQ 4.4 in which the following wonderful words are included: "How precious is it then that understanding of the human condition has been found and this terrifying imminent prospect of the death-by-dogma end of the human race can be avoided—and the real transformation of the human race from a self-preoccupied, selfish, human-condition-stricken state to a concerned-for-others, selfless, human-condition-understood, psychologically rehabilitated state can finally occur—AND INSTEAD OF CONFLICT, FEAR AND TERROR EVERYWHERE WE LOOK, THERE WILL BE GREAT RELIEF, JOY AND A SENSE OF PEACEFULNESS AND CALM IN THE AIR—JUST IMAGINE THE MAGNIFICENCE OF THAT CHANGE, ESPECIALLY HOW GOOD THAT WILL BE FOR THE INNOCENT SOULS OF YOUNG PEOPLE GROWING UP IN THE WORLD; PSYCHOSIS WILL FINALLY DISAPPEAR FROM EARTH!!”

It’s common sense. We act the way our governments treat us. If the people who carry the power. Would heal people. For free, n help people see free of charge. N so on. We would feel healthy n want to help each other. I’m sorry you don’t have to write a book on this subject. Sorry but your just another human being, just want to make money. Off your book. Sorry just saying

WTM Admin

There is a huge amount to get your head around, which takes a little time, but now we can understand the human condition, we can see that everyone has suffered from it, and all our institutions, including our governments, have been a manifestation of our insecure, psychologically upset condition. Only through solving the human condition, addressing the source of our selfish psychological upset, could we achieve real and lasting change and stop the destruction of our world that is happening everywhere we look. That is what Jeremy Griffith has done, what is so unique about his work, and why this is such an extraordinary breakthrough.     With regard to money, we note that the work of the WTM is a scientific pursuit and was not created for profit, so all of our information and materials (including books, videos and podcasts) are provided absolutely free of charge on our website (no email required and there is no money involved), see FAQs about the WTM.

Hello Jeremy, thank you, & everything you say is just a fact. I felt very emotional at times through your interview. You’re a gift, & a blessing to the Earth. Much love & gratitude. 😊💜🙏

Finally, my astonisment in the GOODNESS of altruistic humans as opposed by those who ruin their lives and others' lives with their evil acts has been given a scientific explanation. We all need to listen and UNDERSTAND this about our species.

WTM Admin

Yes, we can understand the great paradox of ‘good and evil’ in the human condition, and crucially, what is so significant is that this understanding defends our so-called ‘dark side’ and explains that despite all appearances to the contrary, all humans are ‘good’. And paradoxically, by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, allowing us to end the perpetuation of our destructive behaviour!

Tracy Johnson

Brilliant

We should all listen and hear this

I have watched the interview with Jeremy. This is a eye opener for me my whole life has been in the search for meaning as an African-American. I have been working in Cooperative encouragement for men and women throughout all ethnic backgrounds. This book opens up New Horizons for me that I can now Exchange to men and women that we need to lift ourselves from a disturbance that we are all upset and angry about and have the creative experience that life offers us from the very beginning of our coming forth as men and women. We have a lot to catch up on but we can do it this book comes at a very important moment in my life where I am no longer having to live in the desert asking God for the why I can move I can move forward into the newness and New Beginnings for us all. The fight for superiority and inferiority Alfred Adler assisted Us in that development. What Jeremy is talking about is the external breaking down of men and women who have nothing to do without disturbance from within we are mad because we have evolved and did not know what to do. Hence psychosis set in and now we are relieving ourselves with all sorts of formulas that do not work. I hope all who read his book will see that we can co-create as was was the edict for us many years ago that we can bring love to the planet love to ourselves love to all we can foster This Love in great joy and win the true prize that love is and will always be the opportunity to heal the planet the American Indians understood this but we ignored them and their remedy now Jeremy gives us the remedy again we must love all nature brother sisters a whole being and evolve into the greatness of who and what we are the Machinery is within and we can cease the disturbance and allow the greatness to come forth blessings upon us all who read Jeremy and blessings upon Jeremy who sought and found

WTM Admin

Thank you so much Christopher! Yes “we are mad because we have evolved and did not know what to do. Hence psychosis set in and now we are relieving ourselves with all sorts of formulas that do not work.” What is unique about what Jeremy has done with the instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition, is that he has answered the essential question of why we departed from our loving origins, to the extent that in our alienated state we have nearly destroyed ourselves and our natural world; and with this love of our ‘dark side’ we can at last know we are fundamentally worthwhile; and so this understanding brings fundamental peace to our insecure selves. Without this insight into our condition, even indigenous people such as the “American Indians”, who, while they are less psychologically embattled than some other ‘races’ and therefore closer to nature, were still relatively embattled compared with our original innocent state, and could not fundamentally solve the problem of our alienation from the natural world. It is only now, with this ‘instinct vs intellect’ understanding, that, as you say, “we can cease the disturbance and allow the greatness to come forth”.

This is the most indispensable truth about human biological development

Scott Wayne Talkington

The problem is that there’s a great deal more involved here than a conflict between “consciousness” and subconscious impulse. There is real species-level trauma with roots in the beginning of the Holocene. Even identifying the source of the dysfunction and trauma doesn’t cure it. Religious narrative has been the way we deal with it, but it’s not really curative. It just turns a wound into a scar, with no cognizance of the original trauma-producing cataclysm. If there is a real cure, as implied by Immanuel Velikovsky, we can’t use our present environment as a workable therapeutic environment, because the trauma is liable to return at any time (and probably will within the next 50 years since it’s cyclical). This is essentially just another conclusion leapt to.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Scott. Firstly we suggest that the more you digest Biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how carefully evidenced and fully accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset – it is no ‘leap’.     With regard to the transition to agrarian societies at the beginning of the Holocene some 11,000 years ago, Jeremy certainly acknowledges the impact of this transition. However, we can now understand that what occurred then was an acceleration of the “real species-level trauma”, which was the ‘instinct vs intellect’ clash that occured with the emergence of consciousness some 2 millions years ago. When we humans developed a conscious mind a battle unavoidably developed between it and our already established cooperative instincts. The result of this conflict between our instinct and intellect was that we became psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric – the upset state we refer to as the human condition. The movement into an agrarian lifestyle simply compounded the already accumulating upset by enabling greater populations able to live in sedentary, higher density environments.     Now that we can explain and understand this conflict, ‘identifying the source of the dysfunction and trauma does heal it.’ Certainly complete healing will take humanity a few generations, but the key is that we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can understand humans’ psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story presents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. We can at last understand the source of our upset and bring great compassion and kindness to ourselves and others. As the distinguished psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen (who wrote the Introduction to Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM) said: “What Griffith is presenting is understanding of the source insecurity that the whole human race suffers from for having destroyed our species’ innocent soul. It is a universal self-blame that his understanding at last provides healing insight into. All human behavior is saturated with that universal insecure, depressing state and resulting anger, egocentricity and alienation that has developed from it, but we finally have the compassionate foundation insight needed to dismantle all that ‘upset’/psychosis. So the real psychotherapy of our collective and individual psychoses can begin”, see FAQ 1.34 ‘How does understanding the human race’s condition help with an individual’s depression and psychosis?’.     With regard to religion, we can now see that it served as a repository of the ideals while the corrupting search for knowledge was ongoing (see our FAQ 6.3 about understanding religion).

conan Coulombe

Thank you to all the people responsible, for this great gathering of important, life changing information!

leo

it wasn’t explained adequately to me. the essence of human existence is mystery.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your consideration Leo. While great care has been taken to present the explanation as quickly and simply as possible (which is done in Part 1 of THE Interview) the human condition is the most fearful of subjects because it’s the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad and our fear of this interface can make it hard to absorb all that is explained in one viewing. Our FAQ 1.16 explains what is needed to overcome this initial ‘deaf effect’ is a preparedness to re-read and/or re-listen to what is being written or said. This process erodes our historic denial thereby allowing the biological understanding of the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition to become accessible. For example THE Interview explains our soul or instinctive self is perfectly aligned to a cooperative and selfless way of living so that is innate in all humans but the critical question is why did we leave and corrupt that original loving state? Despite our competitive and selfish behaviour, we have always intuitively believed we were fundamentally good, but we have never been able to explain this contradictory, conflicted condition. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here. Also our FAQ 1.3 gives a brief summary of what THE Interview puts forward.

Philip Aguer Akech

Deeply interested in this concept.

We need such breakthroughs for understanding who we really are, and why we are the way we are. Great work

Paul Klimowicz

Great insites into human/animal nature of man! Perhaps a focus and attention to the spiritual/eternal part of man will make our earthly existence on this planet more meaningful, peaceful and loving! A win for all !

WTM Admin

Hi Paul, great to have your interest and it is amazing to now be able to understand our instincts aren’t selfish like other animals but selfless and loving and that Jeremy’s biological treatise does actually deal with and explain the spiritual part of man. We feel sure you will find our FAQ 6.7 ‘How can a scientific explanation ever hope to account for and encompass the great ‘spiritual’ dimension we know exists in life? / Isn’t ‘spirituality’ beyond a purely rational explanation?’ of particular interest. This extract by Jeremy from this FAQ shows the power of this explanation to “make our existence on this planet more meaningful, peaceful and loving”: "...the so-called ‘spiritual world’, which is a truly loving and sensitive and all-magnificent existence and dimension and potential for humans, does seem like another universe completely unrelated to us resigned, alienated, soul-corrupted humans, but it is not. We humans are now able to understand, in first principle scientific terms, that we 2-million-year corrupted humans are actually a totally legitimate and meaningful part of the integrative, Godly process. We are part of the integrative loving world after all. There is a ‘spiritual’, a truly loving and truly sensitive and all-magnificent, dimension to existence that we haven’t felt part of but we can now understand that we are part of. Ideality and our seemingly non-ideal reality have finally been reconciled!". As you say it’s a win for all!

Eugene Bentz Jr

I get this realization of the nature of what we really are ,having had these ideas, though differently represented, but true all the same, still see a very vicariously unbalanced world at the edge of a precipice,I hope powers that be implement this truth inspite of acceleratinging worst of bible prophecy.

WTM Admin

Hi Eugene, it is certainly the 11th hour but at last we have the fundamental explanation of the human condition we have been in search of! What we’ve needed was to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here and his book FREEDOM. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? / How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work. Also FAQ 1.40 is most helpful as it answers the questions Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’.

JMP

Thank You! Hope restored, and the timing could not have been better. I’m looking forward to reading “Freedom”.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment, JMP; yes, the great hope of the human species has been to find understanding of our angry, egocentric and alienated human condition, and that is what Jeremy Griffith presents here! Jo Ann Benell

This interview clears so many cobwebs in my mind. I am anxious to read Jeremy Griffith’s book “Freedom”.

Valerie C. Dixon

Sounds very coincidental to me and I don’t believe in ‘coincidence’. After the Almost total destruction of the aboriginal and indigenous peoples of Planet Earth, this white man has found a way to absolve the Caucasian race and any other destructive race throughout the length and breath of time, to grab a hold of the “get out of jail” card and as a result, never have to pay any consequences for the choices and decisions made since the dawn of time and written history. This “theory” is cold comfort to the rest of humanity that never had the chance to experience “FREEDOM” due to the selfishness, intolerance and lack of unconditional love and compassion that he now so openly reveals to be the panacea for all the problems that plague the planet we call Earth. Please teach us how to take “choice” out of the equation and out of the consciousness of humanity and then, maybe just then, I’ll drink this swill. After almost 500 years of death and destruction, dominance andcintol over the planet - to my mind, it is a nice try at redemption.

WTM Admin

The ultimate answer to whether the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition is an invention to “get out of jail” is whether it makes sense, which is a test everyone can apply because what is presented is completely accountable, logical, rational, based-in-first-principles science. What is more, we suggest that its veracity is proved because it actually makes sense of all human behaviour, including our own – so everyone should make up their own mind.     Importantly, what is being put forward is not that “lack of unconditional love and compassion” is the “panacea for all the problems that plague the planet”. The panacea or solution is understanding. Only understanding can remove the psychosis that has made us so psychologically upset that we couldn’t share any love and compassion. We can’t take the “choice” out of the equation, all we can do it bring understanding to the psychosis that is causing the terrible behaviour, and through that ameliorate it.     Finally, with regard to your grievances against Caucasians, what is revealed is that they aren’t ‘evil’ as ‘woke’ doctrine would have it (see Addendum 2 of Jeremy’s book Death by Dogma). THE Interview explains all humans are born with all-loving moral instincts but now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition caused by the conscious mind’s necessary search for knowledge. So we can at last understand WHY as a species we have become psychologically upset — so competitive and aggressive. We can also explain that all ‘races’ (ethnic groups) fall somewhere on the spectrum of either being more sheltered from humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, or more exposed to it, and so are either more innocent or more psychologically upset. We can see that at this point of time Caucasians fall somewhere in the middle, with more psychologically embattled races having ‘peaked’ earlier, and less psychologically embattled races yet to peak (see chapter 8:16E of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM), however, the truth is that all humans are now part of the extremely upset stage of humanity, H. sapiens sapiens, and are therefore nowhere near as innocent as humans were some 2 million years ago when the battle of the human condition first emerged. So the more upset have been overthrowing the less upset since the human condition emerged. However, what is most important is that despite the differing levels of upset due to everyone’s different encounters with humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, we are all equally good. Now we can understand the human condition we can see that no person or race is superior or inferior. This desperately needed reconciling understanding of the relationship between races is further explained in Freedom Essay 28 and for a testimonial on the power of this information to end racism, we recommend watching/reading the presentations from Franklin Mukakanga and Refentse Molosiwa, in Video/Freedom Essay 8.

Elegantly simple, Utterly confounding. Will be listening to ALL your videos, repetitively. (Bonobos are NOT the only outlier….. my GoldenDoodle is an empath)…..

WTM Admin

To the extent that selfless behaviour is discernible amongst other animals, Jeremy obviously recognises and discusses the extraordinary cooperativeness of bonobos in THE Interview (for more see FAQ 5.2). He proposes they demonstrate the nurturing based love-indoctrination process that we humans went through. Elsewhere, Jeremy explains that every species would try to develop as much love-indoctrinated integration as their circumstances permit, which can be seen in animals like dolphins and elephants, but how their physical and environmental situations have limited them from achieving that, meaning they still remain in the genetically selfish ‘animal condition’. With regard to dogs, in chapter 6:10 of his definitive book FREEDOM, he explains that, “Certainly, humans have domesticated dogs and even silver foxes by selecting for tamer and more social juvenile characteristics, the effect of which has been to retard the development of these animals so that they retain the tamer, more tolerant and more ‘pro-social’ behaviour of juveniles into adulthood — with the juvenile physical characteristics of floppy ears, more neotenous faces, etc, also carrying through into adulthood. However, while retarding development does bring the tamer, more tolerant, more ‘pro-social’ characteristics of the juvenile stages into adulthood, it doesn’t free the genes from their need to be selfish, and so doesn’t eliminate selfish competition and aggression—only love-indoctrination can do that. Juvenileness is a form of more tolerant socialness but it isn’t a selfless state. In fact, as stated, dogs and foxes who have been ‘puppyfied’ still aggressively compete for the resources of food, territory and mating opportunities, behaviour that lies in stark contrast to bonobos’ selfless and loving behaviour.”

This is a time waster interview. He never gets to the point, just keeps dancing aroud the subject to sell the book. We all know that Ego is the problem. This is nothing new. And we all know that Enlightenment is the solution. But ppl will not seak out self knowledge. So you have not solved anything. I will not be buying this book. Just another infomersial to sell a book. If he really had the solution and really cared, he would release this information for free. But no, he wants to make money. Same old problem.

Jonathan P Grayshon

I had watched the interview several years back, and have to say that I was very amazed at how the human condition when it comes right down to it thru research and the scientific and biological break down by Jeremy Griffith, just shed the light of us human beings and why we are of the same species but each of us as individuals are so different in so many ways. Its what defines our character and character defects. I was so thankful for the scientifical explanation because now, its all clear and I have been able to re-evaluate many parts of my life to co-exist amongst those around me those I care about those I may not care about those I love, but thru different eyes and I have a lot more compassion towards others and see the world differently as well. Thanks for sharing.

WTM Admin

Two points: 1. While it takes some time to digest, what is unique about Jeremy Griffith’s work is that he has answered the essential question of why, when the universal ideals are to be integrative are we so disintegrative. Our endeavours in philosophy, psychology and biology have failed, until now, to provide a truthful, real, fully accountable, genuinely clarifying explanation. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here. 2. The work of the WTM is a scientific pursuit and was not created for profit, so all of our information and materials (including books, videos and podcasts) are provided absolutely free of charge — there is no money involved.

Great! That is what really explains human condition

Reuben Desvignes

I disagree with most of Jeremy Griffith scientific connotation of animals in relation to human, unless one is an ethicist , one is inclined to such a belief system.

WTM Admin

Clearly, while other animals have various levels of ‘awareness’, or are sentient and able to perceive or feel things, none are ‘conscious’ in the fundamental sense that none can consciously manage events like humans can. Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview that consciousness means being sufficiently aware of how experiences are related to attempt to manage change from a basis of understanding cause and effect, and so it is accurate to describe humans as the only animals possessing ‘fully conscious minds’, see FAQ 5.5 ‘Aren’t other animals capable of conscious thought like humans? / How can you say humans are the only fully conscious animals?’ Also we recommend Chapter 7 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation of how full consciousness developed in humans as a result of nurturing or the love-indoctrination process which is absolutely fascinating (summarised in FAQ 5.4 ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’).

Yes, as with any new scientific breakthrough in history it may take time for people to realise this is what it says it is but once this catches on — through people recognising the importance of it — the infectious enthusiasm and selfless love it liberates will spread like wildfire. And it really is the universal solution to all the problems we face! For the growing momentum of support that is already building around the world for Jeremy’s breakthrough explanation of the human condition, see our FAQ on our ever-expanding network of WTM Centres, and please read FAQs 1.4–1.6 and chapter 9:9 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM for more on the speed in which this knowledge can turn humanity in the right direction and transform it.
