What a divine revelation, am trying to unpack the entire discourse. It’s voluminous but demands full attention. Thank you very much Sir.
WTM Admin
Yes take your time Vuyo. Keep chipping away at it, because that is the way to get your head around this critical new science which presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking. As Jeremy points out (in Part 2) the issue of the human condition has been such a denied and off-limits subject that confronting it represents the “biggest of all blasphemies” so it does take time and patience to consider and adjust to all these understandings explain.

Indeed...the mystery of the Human instinctive behaviour (animal instinct in man) versus the exercise of the true Human Intellect (free choices) have finally been revealed by the Australian Biologist - Dr. Jeremy Griffith. I do agree with his final remarks (in this interview)... that if “the whole world suddenly, immediately changes from a phycological embattled angry, egocentric and alienated state, to a world where everyone has decided to abandon their still-to-be-healed competitive and aggressive behaviour and take up support of a cooperative and loving existence” ...I believe, mankind would finally find their lost utopia on Earth!!! Thanks Dr. Griffith for this remarkable breakthrough!! - ( W A Pakoa).

Thanks very much for your thoughts Star. Yes we all need to share and celebrate this breakthrough as much as we possibly can. It is through our joy and enthusiasm and centredness that the world will be convinced that the human condition has actually been solved. They are wonderful initiatives, however, it does need to be born in mind that as Jeremy Griffith points out in Part 2 of THE Interview, the issue of the human condition has been such a denied and off-limits subject that confronting it represents the “biggest of all blasphemies”, and how “science progresses funeral by funeral” when it comes to supporting big paradigm shifts like this. You might find these links helpful: FAQ 1.14 ‘Why aren’t these ideas mainstream’ and FAQ 3.4 ‘How can I help the WTM’.
Having said that, as Jeremy explains in chapter 9.9 of his book FREEDOM: “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will, as has been stated, have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire.’” And so even though we haven’t yet reached the tipping point in terms of awareness of this great breakthrough, you can see from the excitement and relief in our ecstatic responses to THE Interview, we are well on our way! Also, on our homepage, you can see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for Jeremy’s work with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world!

Sandra, what is presented here is a scientific explanation of the human condition. However, Jeremy’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. Although this is science, it is based on a Godly nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained in as being the integrative meaning of life, see our FAQs about religion.

Boris
In summary, humans behave the way we do because we’re curious. Our curiosity compelled us to defy our instincts, and through trying to justify defying our instincts we developed ideologies. And over time, different humans developed different ideologies, many of which are conflicting with other human’s ideologies. And it is these conflicting ideologies that have created divisiveness between in another. And the cure for this divisiveness is to be curious not of ideology, but of science.
WTM Admin
Not a bad effort Boris but it is important to clarify that the instinct vs intellect clash caused our divisiveness, not our ideologies. We can now understand that we responded to the ‘criticism’ from our instincts with the defiant behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, so the direct source of our diviseness is right there, not in our ideologies.

not often a podcast can induce a feeling relief? a few points im having a battle with atm but so far im optimistic of the message lay before me.
thank you, very rare to induce such feelings.
WTM Admin
Hi Matty, it is great to hear THE Interview is resonating with you. And yes, it is not surprising that you are feeling relief as that is precisely the emotion that the ability now to finally understand the human condition brings. We can now see that all our anger and frustration is, at base, a result of a conflict between our intellect and our cooperative instincts. This conflict led to an undeserved sense of guilt and insecurity that caused us to become psychologically angry, alienated and egocentric, the upset state we refer to as the human condition. Now that we can explain and understand this conflict and the guilt it produced, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition. It is, however, a massive paradigm shift, so no doubt there will be points being made that you will need time and further reading to process. We recommend getting involved on our Facebook Group because there is now a huge base of knowledgeable people ready to discuss all issues surrounding this breakthrough.

Lawrence Akhigbe
The moral act of this generation needed attention.
May the Lord help us.
WTM Admin
We suggest you can take heart Lawrence as there is an explanation and a solution to the escalating levels of upset and distress in the world including in our younger generations. THE Interview explains as the human journey has progressed we have become ever more psychologically corrupt, to the point that we are now approaching a state of terminal alienation. To quote Jeremy Griffith from Part 2: “While we’ve had to live in denial of our corrupted, psychologically upset condition while we couldn’t explain it, the truth is that on a graph showing the ever-increasing levels of upset in humans, those levels, especially of psychosis and alienation, have been increasing so rapidly lately that the line tracking their rise is near vertical with the amount of upset virtually doubling now in each new generation! Freedom Essays 55 & 59 on our World Transformation Movement’s website describes this terrifying end play threat of terminal levels of psychosis.” So as long as the search for knowledge continued, levels of upset could only keep increasing and each generation would suffer the effects of this. Thankfully this much needed knowledge is presented here in this interview and Part 4 explains how the psychological rehabilitation of the human race is now possible with arrival of understanding of the human condition. Also FAQ 1.5 about why this understanding is important to all our lives gives a helpful summary of how this solution works. Also, you might find FAQ 1.15 ‘If this is biology, why the religious references?’ interesting as it is about how this knowledge reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. We hope this helps your understandable concern about the psychological state of our younger generations Lawrence.

I am in disbelief that he is addressing the same conclusion I came to about the human mind. I wish I could have a conversation with you directly.
WTM Admin
Thank you for your feedback Elaina. In THE Interview it is discussed that from ancient times many thinkers have identified the elements of instinct and intellect involved in creating the human condition, however what was missing was the clarifying explanation of the difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. This is summarised in FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? / How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work. Also, you may find our reply to Rattan (directly below) about the difference between psychoanalyst Erich Fromm’s work and Jeremy’s work of interest.
Rattan
I have read something similar from Erich Fromm.
WTM Admin
Hi Rattan, thanks for your interest. In his Freedom Essay 53 Jeremy Griffith includes German psychologist and psychoanalyst Erich Fromm as one of the great thinkers in history who recognised the key elements involved in producing the human condition. To quote: “I am not the first person to identify the instinct vs intellect elements of the human condition. As described in chapters 2:6 and 2:7 of my book FREEDOM: The End Of The Human Condition, there have been many thinkers throughout history who have recognised that the answer to our troubled human condition lay in understanding a clash that must have occurred between our already established instincts and newly emerged conscious mind. Such thinkers include Moses, Plato and Hesiod, and in more recent times, Richard Heinberg, Eugène Marais, Laurens van der Post, Nikolai Berdyaev, Erich Neumann, Paul MacLean, Arthur Koestler, Julian Jaynes, Christopher Booker, Erich Fromm, William Wordsworth, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Blake, John Milton, Robert A. Johnson and Bruce Chatwin.” However Fromme did not identify the clash between instinct and intellect as causing the human condition; he suggested that breaking free of our instincts and becoming conscious caused us to become insecure because of the possibility of failure associated with conscious decision making. As presented in THE Interview what Jeremy explains is that the emerging conscious mind was criticised by our pre-established instincts when the conscious mind began to experiment with self-management, and the result was the psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated human condition. Being able to now understand the nature of the conflict between them — that the gene-based learning system can orientate a species, but that the nerve-based learning system is insightful — allows us to understand that the conscious mind was right to defy our instinctive self and search for understanding (summarised in FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new?’). Without that explanation the conflict could not be resolved. As psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen, former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, has written about Jeremy’s book FREEDOM: “What this book of books, in fact this greatest of all books, does is take humanity from a state of bewilderment about the nature of human behavior and existence to a state of profound understanding of our lives—understanding that drains away all the pain, suffering, confusion and conflict from the world. This is the book we have been waiting for, it is THE BOOK THAT SAVES THE WORLD!” And why Dr Scott Churchill, Professor and former Chair of the University of Dallas Psychology Department, has written: “Nothing Dr. Prosen has said about the immense importance of this book is an exaggeration. This is the book all humans need to read for our collective wellbeing.” (You might like to read Video/Freedom Essay 4 and its longer version Freedom Essay 53 where this is all explained in more detail).

Who has felt this- a moderate to heavy burden of guilt that we are the worst species overall... (Actually an entire misunderstanding with terrible flow on effects!)
Your current state-- Let’s use our conscious mind to attempt to beat down, forget and just do our best as individuals to cope with the burning question cos we have no answer.....
Your state after grasping this brilliance-- shoulders light, clear mind, depression countered, no confusion about human life, all questions answered and a strong drive to spread the most healing understanding ever gained on earth.... Sincere thanks Jeremy, ya bloody brilliant mate with pure life saving truth, (there’s no going backwards from this everyone, what’s funny is that the bible almost hit the nail on the head but lacked any science to prove it at the time, the word “God” is a name, doesn’t matter what you call it, it’s an understanding.

Interesting: “Adam”,”apple trees”
Real problem: sin, ignoring the Creator and His plan
WTM Admin
Yes, the use of ‘Adam’ and ‘apple trees" in the ’Adam Stork‘ analogy is quite deliberate because the ’instinct vs intellect‘ explanation of the human condition finally makes sense of Moses’ story. In THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains that Moses went as close as you could possibly go in those pre-scientific times to actually explain the human condition when he said “we took the fruit from the tree of knowledge [became conscious] and were disobedient [obviously meaning we developed a conscious free will that defied our already established instincts that had been controlling our lives] and became perpetrators of sin [sufferers of psychologically upset, divisive behaviour]”. All Moses lacked to fully explain the human condition was the scientific explanation of the difference between genes and nerves, which defends our ‘disobedience’. It is this explanation that finally allows us to understand that even though we became immensely psychologically upset sufferers of anger, egocentricity and alienation for participating in humanity’s search for knowledge, we weren’t ‘evil’; in fact, we are the heroes of the story of life on Earth! So the real issue is if people prefer a more literal fundamentalist interpretation of scripture rather than our more biological, science-based interpretation. For those interested, we recommend our FAQs on Religion.

This MAY BE important, but It certainly could be said in less than an hour ! Give us a SHORT version.
WTM Admin
Great care has been taken to present the explanation succinctly and simply (which is done in Part 1 of THE Interview). The real issue is that the human condition has historically been an off-limits subject and so our minds find it difficult to take in or ‘hear’ discussion of it – see FAQ 1.16 which explains this phenomenon and how to solve it. To read a very brief overview of the explanation, see FAQ 1.3 which gives a brief summary of Jeremy’s treatise.

What is the objective reality of us humans? Greed, power, money; or generosity, caring/kindness, and sharing?
WTM Admin
Hi James, thank you for your question. We’re not sure if you have watched THE Interview but if you haven’t we suggest you will find it most revealing as it explains that the whole objective of the human journey was to find understanding of our contradictory behaviour. What is the sum of what we have done as a species? Why are we capable of selfless and loving behaviour (as to generously and kindly care for others) yet also be so selfish and destructive, so greedy, power-hungry and materialistic? That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained and that is the great breakthrough biologist Jeremy Griffith presents in this interview. Very briefly, he explains all humans are born with all-loving moral instincts but now variously suffer from a psychosis due to the human condition caused by the conscious mind’s necessary search for knowledge. So we can at last understand why as a species we have become so psychologically upset—angry, egocentric and alienated—as to nearly destroy our own planet. But now that we can explain and understand this necessary conflict, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, and we free ourselves from the human condition. Please see FAQ 1.3 for a nutshell explanation.

Twilla
This doesn’t cover personality disorders or psychopathy/sociopathy or narcissists. These people upon discovering what they are often lean into their toxicity and will further attempt to influence and control others without remorse. They are unfixable even by themselves. This instinct ‘wat’ never happens within these people. They are created by parental and generational trauma and this mental health disorder problems have inflated in society to the point where we have a crisis in leadership, positions these toxic people are drawn to and will do anything to get to. Many don’t have the ability to see things from others point of view, usually no limit to their greed.
WTM Admin
Thank you for your consideration Twilla. We suggest that the more you digest how the instinct vs intellect battle resulted in humans’ psychologically upset state, the clearer it becomes that, in the extreme, that upset produces very destructive behaviour, including narcissism and sociopathy. (You can read about parental and generational trauma and how it creates narcissistic behaviour in chapters 8:16C - 8:16D of Jeremy Griffith’s definitive book FREEDOM.) However, what is so utterly exonerating and psychologically healing about our ability to now understand this is that we can finally appreciate that there was a very good reason — indeed heroic reason — for such dark volcanic forces in us humans. Importantly, this understanding of why we became upset as a species does not condone or sanction such extremes of selfishness, rather, through bringing understanding to humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it, see our FAQ 1.38.

I remember hearing in a sociology class, that “ Too much Freedom leads to Too little ” It was a quote from Professor Galen ( Galen’s Theory ) London University, 1960's. Last night was New Years Eve on television, and people interviewed were full of Freedom and appearing totally Mad !
Personally, I am 81 yrs old and out going, but that mad behaviour would wake people up. It was so much more than a glass of wine. These people are no Role Model for the younger generation. This is superb work by Jeremy Griffith, thank God for his endeavour.
WTM Admin
Understanding the human condition allows us to see both how shallow and superficial modern life is, but also how brave and heroic that state is. So we can be honest and compassionate about the need of current generations to distract themselves. The greater truth, however, that you seem to be alluding to, is that levels of psychological upset are now reaching dangerous levels, which means the need for Jeremy Griffith’s redeeming, reconciling and rehabilitating explanation of the human condition is urgent!

I enjoyed listening to the interview but feel it will take time for me to digest all of the information.
WTM Admin
This critical new science presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking because, as Jeremy points out in Part 2 of THE Interview, the issue of the human condition has been such a denied and off-limits subject that confronting it represents the “biggest of all blasphemies”, so it does take time and patience to consider and adjust to all these understandings explain — as you have recognised Patricia.
M-F N
Indeed.1) Let’s not forget that most lineages on earth have a raped woman, thus an aggressor, along the line. And we know trauma is carried along the gene lines. 2) Trauma induces a victim mentality; victim mentality systematically interprets others’ words and actions through the filter of their victimhood; victim mentality reacts according to its twisted interpretation, thus victimizing its purported aggressor. It’s a house of mirrors. Indeed trauma needs to be healed so we can speak, be heard, and react from a bedrock of truth.
WTM Admin
Human history is now so tangled with trauma that it is a wonder we can even get out of bed in the morning! As you say, what is needed is “a bedrock of truth” from which we can safely survey and emerge from the dark tangled traumatised nightmare of the human condition. What is so exciting is that is exactly what we now have with Jeremy Griffith’s redeeming, reconciling and rehabilitating explanation of the human condition. As Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, wrote, “the beauty of Griffith’s treatise is that the healing starts at the macro level of the universal human condition; the healing of the shame and blame that the whole human race has suffered from…It brings the greater context and love to all human psychosis and suffering, and then, from under the umbrella of that safe position, everyone can gradually work inwards to their particular experience of all the imperfections in human life that have now, finally, been made sense of.” (see FAQ 1.34). The pain has been immeasurable, but at last it can now all end. It couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough.

I magnify the Most High and Almighty, who has revealed this secret to mankind through Jeremy.
I really appreciate this dazzling saving revelation
WTM Admin
Thank you Marcel. For those new to this information it is important to stress that what is presented is completely rational, fully accountable science. However, dealing as it does with the human condition, it is the realm where science and religion overlap, and so it is natural that people will express their joy at this breakthrough in religious terms. However, again, what is being presented is not religious, it actually allows a demystification of religion. For example, in FAQ 6.2 Jeremy explains that ‘God’ is the personification of the theme or purpose or meaning of existence which is the ordering or integration of matter, a process that is driven by the physical law of Negative Entropy, a personification that was necessary while we selfish and competitive humans couldn’t explain why we were seemingly at odds with ‘God’.

Linda
I was fully with you until you interjected the nominclature of right wing vs left wing which draws attention to political divisiveness. Our current experience is that the “right wing” politics are instilling hatred and divisiveness while the left wing is fighting for democracy and humanitarianism. The human condition is plagued by greed for power and money, which is evident in the instinctual striving found in all humans but some are more advanced by intellectual reasoning. I look forward to exploring your thoughts and revelations more thoroughly, hoping that the two categories of the human condition will be explained as one group of human psychology.
WTM Admin
Hi Linda, Jeremy Griffith’s work opens up a new way of thinking so it takes a little time to fully absorb this new paradigm. The first point to make is that it is explained that our “greed for power and money” is not a reflection of “instinctual striving” but a result of our insecure, psychologically upset state that we originally created by the ‘instinct vs intellect’ clash. As THE Interview explains, unable to confront the human condition, science has denied the existence of our psychologically troubled human condition, blaming our selfish behaviour on ‘savage instincts’ within us – see FAQ 1.2 ‘How does science currently explain the human condition?’ And that is where the human race has been stalled, waiting in an increasingly distressed state for the real explanation for our psychologically troubled human condition that will finally make sense of the riddle of human life.
With regards to politics, we suggest that the biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work identifies that the problem of the right-wing is its destructiveness, however, through its support of egocentricity and selfishness, it does encourage the search for knowledge to continue. However the left wing’s insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing and thus regressing, not ‘progressing’, the all-important search for knowledge. Most importantly, this understanding brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

I knew that Eve was a heroine. I’m thankful for this critical thinking put into words.
WTM Admin
Yes, as is explained in THE Interview, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans ‘fall’ or them becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’. However as Jeremy stresses, we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’. And with that redeeming answer to the human condition now found, our psychological upset (so called ‘sinful’ or ‘fallen’ state) can actually subside.

Fascinating presentation of human origin and evolution, particularly the sense of cooperation for fostering survival and evolution.
The Muse
Since every generation has a group of people who fight, debate and protest for the freedom of thought against an established way of doing things, an establishment which acts akin to instinctive behaviour due to the repetitive processes that it has deemed as being accepted behaviour. These young people do this because they have become aware of concepts such as fairness, unfairness and justice. I believe rather than try to teach an old dog new tricks, the change might come about sooner if the dog should teach these young rebels how to achieve their goals and changes through constructive behaviours. Which could mean dealing more constructively and positively with those who hold the money and power to make or improve the situation.
I like what I heard in this video. I myself am from an indigenous group of people who have followed tradition to the letter for so long that that tradition has become the new ‘instinct’. Follow the tradition step by step and you are held on a pedestal. Try something a little off beat and you get looked down on or almost ostracised?
Not only does this following of tradition happen on ceremonial occasions but even in sports as well. I used to train in combat sports and one day got invited to play a game of outdoor hockey. To protect the ball from opposing players whilst dribbling it towards your opponents goal line, you would use the hook of your hockey stick flipping from one side to the other side of the ball you are now controlling as well as keeping an eye on what direction to move.
Due to my flexibility from combat training I found I could bend down pretty low and lock the ball between the stick just above the hook and the ground then just run full paced towards the goal line. No matter how the opponents swung at the ball as if they were swinging axes they couldn’t dislodge the ball from my control.
Since the ref hadn’t seen such a move used before, (which didn’t mean it was illegal) his only thought was to foul me when ever I used it?
WTM Admin
Yes Muse, you can draw a parallel between our dictatorial instincts and ‘hidebound’ tradition. Both are inflexible and, in-effect, criticise deviations from there precepts. The difference is that our all-loving instinctive self or soul, was the most precious part of ourselves. It was our very conscience that was in-effect criticising us for doing what we had to do, which was learn how to self-manage our lives from a conscious basis. And so without the explanation for why we had to do that, that criticism was profoundly upsetting. There is a lot to digest here Muse, and we do hope you continue your journey with it.

As humans we consumed by bulldog mentality. This science can save us
DENNIS C HENRY
I see a parallel between this and Ayn Rand’s volitional consciousness. True self-interest is not about getting the most toys but getting the most of what really makes humans happy. She rejected instinct in favor of the exercise of reason. This approach brings science onto the playing field to greatly simplify the explanation of why and how. Thus, it is more humane and less ridged. I will pursue this!
Thanks,
Dennis Henry
WTM Admin
Yes, the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation explains so much about our behaviour, and also allows us to fully understand the thinking of people like Ayn Rand. So we can now see that Rand was right to champion reason / the intellect over our all loving, cooperative instincts; just as she was right to champion selfishness and egocentricity over ‘collectivism’ in all its forms, because ‘collectivism’ or the insistence on ideal behaviour, inhibited the all-important, but corrupting, search for knowledge. However, we can also see that the science Rand used to justify her position was poor biology. For example, in his book Death by Dogma, Jeremy focuses on politics and in particular the danger presented by the left wing, which is that its insistence on ideal ‘collectivist’ behaviour oppresses the corrupting, but critcally important search for knowledge, whereas the right wing, through its support of selfish individualism, supported that all-critical search. As Jeremy explains in Death by Dogma, “So although the ideology of the Right was correct, unable to confront the truth of our corrupted human condition and thus find the true instinct vs intellect explanation for why we have had to be competitive, selfish and aggressive, they were left having to contrive a way to justify our seemingly ‘reactionary’, non-ideal, competitive, selfish and aggressive behaviour, which they did (as indicated in the quote above) by using the biologically dishonest ‘must reproduce your genes’, Social Darwinist, ‘survival of the fittest’, ‘savage instincts’ excuse that said we humans are innately, naturally competitive, selfish and aggressive, ‘war-like, greedy and oppressive’. Which meant the colossal philosophical heroes of the Right who bravely defended our competitive and aggressive state like the author Ayn Rand, and more recently the psychologist Jordan Peterson, were ultimately doomed to fail because their arguments were based on false biology.”
And finally, you are correct in saying that the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation is “more humane” than Rand’s ‘take no prisoners’ opposition to ‘collectivism’. Ultimately, the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation proves that all humans are fundamentally good, and brings an end to the whole ugly polarised world of politics.

How can we help to educate the psychopaths that seemingly have no conscience whatsoever?
WTM Admin
The more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset, which in the extreme, produces people who are capable of what we have described as ‘evil’. Of course this breakthrough explanation doesn’t condone or sanction the horrendous atrocities humans can commit rather, through bringing compassionate understanding to the source of humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it, see FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’. As the late Professor Harry Prosen, psychiatrist and former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, said: ‘I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.’
Joe Carney
Very enlightening, but scary at the same time because our scientific community has lost its way and used it for means other than peace and understanding.
WTM Admin
Yes, as Jeremy explains in chapter 2:4 of FREEDOM, human-condition-avoiding, mechanistic, reductionist, deductive science is an extremely limited and compromised form of science. As Templeton Prize-winning biologist Charles Birch, who was Jeremy’s professor of biology at Sydney University, said, “[mechanistic] science can’t deal with subjectivity [the issue of our psychologically distressed condition]…what we were all taught in universities is pretty much a dead end” and “Biology has not made any real advance since Darwin”. Indeed, mechanistic science is now so farcically dishonest and discredited in the public’s mind that many people have lost interest in it to the point of dismissing it as of no real use to us in terms of being able to understand and manage our behaviour! Freedom Essay/Video 14 makes this discreditation very clear.
Thankfully mechanistic science can now be replaced by human-condition-confronting-and-solving, truthful, holistic, inductive science—but of course the established, entrenched, traditional mechanistic scientific paradigm resists this massive paradigm shift. It certainly needs to get behind this breakthrough!

This is nothing new, it’s all there in the Hindu Scriptures, I’ve known this for over 40yr, and stop quoting from that book of fairytales the bible
WTM Admin
With regard to Hinduism and Christianity, while religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? / How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.
In terms of the Bible Jeremy considers it to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit without the benefit of science. For example, we suggest that we can now understand that the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden taking the fruit from the tree of knowledge is a metaphor for the emergence of consciousness in the presence of our loving, but dictatorial, instincts (this is discussed further below in our reply to Deborah). The real issue is if people prefer a more literal fundamentalist interpretation of scripture rather than our more biological, science-based interpretation. For those interested in exploring this further we suggest our FAQs on religion.

I have been wondering about this for years
Godwin Eke
While l commend the indepth studies and findings of the author Griffith on the subject - which I could say is still subject to more analytical studies and contribution. I could see one disconnection traceable from the religious views or argument about the present sarcastic condition of man today and the disconnection between man vis a vis war and peace, aiming at (unity). This point is where political science input is necessary to trace why the world we live in today remains at the daggers-end, vulture eats vulture, culminating in the world of divide. This bring again the argument of nurturing as explain using bonobo. More insights of scientific evidence are still needed for conclusion.
WTM Admin
Hi Godwin, thank you for your comment. If you are talking about the disconnection from our original peaceful ‘eden-like’ state to our present warring, “vulture eats vulture”, divisive state this is precisely what Jeremy Griffith confronts and solves in this interview by explaining why we are capable of such contradictory behaviour that has caused “the world of divide”. He has done this by answering the question of why, when the ideals are to be loving and cooperative, we are so selfish and competitive, and that was ultimately a biological question as it required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work – this is the great breakthrough Jeremy presents.
To clarify, he explains that all humans are born with all-loving, selfless instincts but we now suffer from a universal psychosis caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect. We became psychologically upset (what historically we called ‘evil’) and alienated or “disconnected” from our original selfless state because of our conscious mind’s necessary, and indeed heroic, search for knowledge. Significantly however we can heal this psychological upset, as Jeremy explains in Part 1 of THE Interview, “it is actually really good news that our behaviour is due to a conscious-mind-based psychologically troubled condition because psychoses can be healed with understanding. If our competitive and aggressive behaviour was due to us having savage instincts then we would be stuck with that born-with, hard-wired, innate behaviour.” Further Jeremy explains how humans actually acquired our genuinely all-loving, altruistic instincts through the process of ‘love indoctrination’ and in Part 3 of THE Interview uses the example of the extraordinarily cooperative and nurturing bonobos (which you refer to), who have developed this ‘love-indoctrination’ process to a lesser degree. Also see FAQ 5.2 ‘How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience?/ What do bonobos tell us about our own evolutionary heritage?’.
Jeremy’s biological treatise of the human condition has received significant scientific evaluation, and, subsequent to that, scientific support from eminent scientists and thinkers (see here on our homepage) but is not yet widely accepted by the mechanistic scientific establishment. This is not unexpected given it is a human-condition-confronting, holistic and induction-derived scientific work; see our FAQ 1.7 ‘What scientific support does Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition have?’. We hope this reply and the links provides help you with your consideration of Jeremy’s work.

When I finally took the time to listen to this interview I was rewarded with the hope and confidence I so desperately needed. My soul purpose is to send LOVE out to the world, learning to let go of all the conditions that kept me from fully believing in myself and humanity to create the changes necessary to create PEACE in our lifetime. Thank you for re-awakening so many of us to our innate potential. I will open myself to the words I so often use. LOVE IS ALL THERE IS.
Sending LOVE 💕 🕊️💕
WTM Admin
Yes Jann listening to Jeremy Griffith explain the human condition provides the ultimate reward!! At last we can understand why we haven’t always been soulful and loving, and it is through this redeeming explanation for why we have been selfish and divisive that that behaviour can now come to an end, and humanity can legitimately return to our original loving state. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. In other words, it was only through finding the good reason that we had to defy our cooperative and loving instincts that all our defensive, unloving behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) could be made redundant. That is what is so unique about Jeremy’s explanation of the human condition and is the critical difference between his work and the new age movement, see FAQ 6.5.

What a divine revelation, am trying to unpack the entire discourse. It’s voluminous but demands full attention. Thank you very much Sir.
Very important.
Perfect inspiration and above all wisdom.
Very exciting! Thank you!

You might find these links helpful: FAQ 1.14 ‘Why aren’t these ideas mainstream’ and FAQ 3.4 ‘How can I help the WTM’.Having said that, as Jeremy explains in chapter 9.9 of his book FREEDOM: “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will, as has been stated, have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire.’” And so even though we haven’t yet reached the tipping point in terms of awareness of this great breakthrough, you can see from the excitement and relief in our ecstatic responses to THE Interview, we are well on our way! Also, on our homepage, you can see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for Jeremy’s work with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres all over the world!I need to digest and share this

Interesting and informative
In summary, humans behave the way we do because we’re curious. Our curiosity compelled us to defy our instincts, and through trying to justify defying our instincts we developed ideologies. And over time, different humans developed different ideologies, many of which are conflicting with other human’s ideologies. And it is these conflicting ideologies that have created divisiveness between in another. And the cure for this divisiveness is to be curious not of ideology, but of science.
Sounds Logical to me and a great pathway to changing for the better!
not often a podcast can induce a feeling relief? a few points im having a battle with atm but so far im optimistic of the message lay before me. thank you, very rare to induce such feelings.

This Is Very Educative,The Biological Breakthrough Is Very Welcoming To The Human Race.

Thank-you Jeremy just what I needed to know regarding what makes people tick...and behave the way they do... very informative and much appreciated...
Everyone has the ability of reading what they choose into what they have read or been taught, This is his opinion and the agenda he is trying to push.
Mr Denier, what biologist Jeremy Griffith is presenting is all first principle-based, rational, testable, biological understanding of the human condition which has attracted the support of eminent scientists and thinkers (Commendations are here on our homepage). There is no hidden agenda, dogma, faith or belief involved. It’s all about knowledge that is freely offered on the WTM website. The WTM is a scientific pursuit and was not created for profit, so all of our information and materials (including books, videos and podcasts) are provided absolutely free of charge. Very thorough it’s overwhelming andtrue
Very interested topic, everyone should have a copy of this book in in all languages and possible though in schools at an early age.
The moral act of this generation needed attention. May the Lord help us.
Very insightful. We all need to change our competitive materialistic and corruptive behavior which has brought chaos into the world through reformative education.
I am in disbelief that he is addressing the same conclusion I came to about the human mind. I wish I could have a conversation with you directly.
I have read something similar from Erich Fromm.
(Actually an entire misunderstanding with terrible flow on effects!) Your current state-- Let’s use our conscious mind to attempt to beat down, forget and just do our best as individuals to cope with the burning question cos we have no answer.....
Well said
Interesting: “Adam”,”apple trees” Real problem: sin, ignoring the Creator and His plan
Cool information
Very interesting
Very nice interview it is most relevant and informative. I do like it.
This MAY BE important, but It certainly could be said in less than an hour ! Give us a SHORT version.
Dr. Griffith just confirmed many of my thoughts and beliefs, THANK YOU!!!
Very interesting and informative I loved this video
A deep dive into the future of healthcare
All men are born sinners. The answer is Biblical; You must be Born Again this means recieve regeneration from GOD and work out one’s salvation.
We certainly respect people’s religious views however we felt it was important to mention that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict the Bible. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts such as ‘sin’ and ‘salvation’. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. The real issue is if people prefer a more literal fundamentalist interpretation of scripture rather than our more biological, science-based interpretation. For those interested, we recommend our FAQs on Religion.
Goes a long way to explain my constant state of conscious confusion and how reactive I become.
Very interesting. I enjoyed it.
Love it! One can learn so much just by listening to this.
What is the objective reality of us humans? Greed, power, money; or generosity, caring/kindness, and sharing?
Fascinating. Would love to take in.
Thanks Guy, the explanation of the human condition is endlessly fascinating but it introduces an entirely new framework of knowledge, a massive paradigm shift in how we view humans, which takes time to absorb. Phenomenal
This interview is awesome 👍
This doesn’t cover personality disorders or psychopathy/sociopathy or narcissists. These people upon discovering what they are often lean into their toxicity and will further attempt to influence and control others without remorse. They are unfixable even by themselves. This instinct ‘wat’ never happens within these people. They are created by parental and generational trauma and this mental health disorder problems have inflated in society to the point where we have a crisis in leadership, positions these toxic people are drawn to and will do anything to get to. Many don’t have the ability to see things from others point of view, usually no limit to their greed.
Great
Great insightful and informative interview that simplifies science of behaviour concurring with spiritiality
Interesting!!
This interview is enlightening, so glad I could start off the new year with this...But, I have so many questions.
Hi Yvonne, thank you for your interest - yes, as mentioned to Patricia below, this explanation of the human confition presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking, so it does take time to explore and adjust to all that these understandings explain, so it is natural you will have questions. To assist, the WTM provides a comprehensive library of ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ that you can access here. Also, at the top of our homepage — HumanCondition.com — it states ‘WHAT NEXT after watching THE Interview?’ and guides you through the steps to further pursue your interest. This includes subscribing for our free, weekly ‘Freedom Essay’ emails, and joining our booming Facebook Group.
Amazing and very thought provoking.
I watched this video, and the interview is truly wonderful. The explanations are very clear, and I now understand much better, especially regarding the importance of knowing this vision of the past within the deaf community. This is a very informative and great interview. Thank you
Very interesting knowledge and wisdom indeed. I will be going through the interview several times to grasp each and every point mentioned.
I enjoyed listening to the interview but feel it will take time for me to digest all of the information.
I am so glad to start this year off by (finally) listening to this interview. It is enlightening !
It sounds like the solution is Mass transfer of Outlook and emotional, spiritual and physical well-being from a state of unknowing ness to the state of understanding and working of a solution. If I have this incorrect please let me know
Something we need today in this chaotic world
I magnify the Most High and Almighty, who has revealed this secret to mankind through Jeremy. I really appreciate this dazzling saving revelation
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Now we can stop making excuses and be normal. We’re been conscious for a long time now.
This is awesome.
I hope this science can also help to stop the chaos, wars, wrong Idiologys and movements what are bothering our current world
I was fully with you until you interjected the nominclature of right wing vs left wing which draws attention to political divisiveness.
This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.Good and clear explanation, I like 👍 it.
Great interview!❤️
Very enlightening, informative!
I knew that Eve was a heroine. I’m thankful for this critical thinking put into words.
You might be interested in molecular biologist Dr Anna Fitzgerald’s video commendation about how this explanation is the real liberation of women and our FAQ 8.1 ‘How does this reconcile men and women’.True. By ending the conflict in the minds there is a good chance of getting the peace of mind that is needed to end the conflict in the world.
Interesting have to learn more thank you for the insight
An eye opener thank you
Fascinating presentation of human origin and evolution, particularly the sense of cooperation for fostering survival and evolution.
Yes Muse, you can draw a parallel between our dictatorial instincts and ‘hidebound’ tradition. Both are inflexible and, in-effect, criticise deviations from there precepts. The difference is that our all-loving instinctive self or soul, was the most precious part of ourselves. It was our very conscience that was in-effect criticising us for doing what we had to do, which was learn how to self-manage our lives from a conscious basis. And so without the explanation for why we had to do that, that criticism was profoundly upsetting. There is a lot to digest here Muse, and we do hope you continue your journey with it.
How do I get a copy of your book?
Hi Austin, it’s great you are keen to read Jeremy Griffith’s book FREEDOM, which is available for free on our homepage here to read online or download. (You can also download the free Kindle version from Amazon, otherwise you can purchase hard copies from Amazon or other good bookstores.)
This was an amazing interview. It was like he was describing my life as the storkes played out. This was very healing for me.
Kudos ✨
So Enlightening! Thank you.
As humans we consumed by bulldog mentality. This science can save us
I see a parallel between this and Ayn Rand’s volitional consciousness. True self-interest is not about getting the most toys but getting the most of what really makes humans happy. She rejected instinct in favor of the exercise of reason. This approach brings science onto the playing field to greatly simplify the explanation of why and how. Thus, it is more humane and less ridged. I will pursue this! Thanks, Dennis Henry
Which meant the colossal philosophical heroes of the Right who bravely defended our competitive and aggressive state like the author Ayn Rand, and more recently the psychologist Jordan Peterson, were ultimately doomed to fail because their arguments were based on false biology.”And finally, you are correct in saying that the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation is “more humane” than Rand’s ‘take no prisoners’ opposition to ‘collectivism’. Ultimately, the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation proves that all humans are fundamentally good, and brings an end to the whole ugly polarised world of politics.Interesting... want to learn more.

Very insightful
Interesting, needs to be more scientific inquisitive minds talking and thinking about this.
This interview not only validated the questions and answers I have juggled with, it has absolutely opened my mind to further understanding
How can we help to educate the psychopaths that seemingly have no conscience whatsoever?
Very enlightening, but scary at the same time because our scientific community has lost its way and used it for means other than peace and understanding.
Freedom Essay/Video 14 makes this discreditation very clear.Thankfully mechanistic science can now be replaced by human-condition-confronting-and-solving, truthful, holistic, inductive science—but of course the established, entrenched, traditional mechanistic scientific paradigm resists this massive paradigm shift. It certainly needs to get behind this breakthrough!Interesting... Please share the transcripts

This is nothing new, it’s all there in the Hindu Scriptures, I’ve known this for over 40yr, and stop quoting from that book of fairytales the bible
How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.In terms of the Bible Jeremy considers it to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit without the benefit of science. For those interested in exploring this further we suggest our FAQs on religion.Enlightening
I have been wondering about this for years
While l commend the indepth studies and findings of the author Griffith on the subject - which I could say is still subject to more analytical studies and contribution.
Also see FAQ 5.2 ‘How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience?/ What do bonobos tell us about our own evolutionary heritage?’.Jeremy’s biological treatise of the human condition has received significant scientific evaluation, and, subsequent to that, scientific support from eminent scientists and thinkers (see here on our homepage) but is not yet widely accepted by the mechanistic scientific establishment.
This makes so much sense. It resonates.
