I see all that is wrong in our world: corrupt politicians , moguls sifting their gains offshore, I see ‘GREED’ .. I see people starving, global warming where economics have ruined the eco system. I see numbers of stress related illnesses multiplying. This is not the way we should be living and abusing our fellow men/women or our planet. I understand the human condition and I wish that I was back in a hut with a husband and children and lived simply, Thank you x
WTM Admin
Hi Suzie, what is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is that it explains the real reason for why humans’ competitive behaviour became an unavoidable, indeed necessary, part of human life; it defends our so-called ‘dark side’. That is why it is so powerful: it actually allows us all to reconcile the selfish madness of the world, and in ourselves, with ideality. And by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, which is what makes it totally different to pseudo idealistic demands that we all just behave cooperatively. See FAQ 1.40, which addresses ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. See also FAQ 1.6, ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’

Very interesting
Rambla Nabila Ndangi
Very interesting concept indeed. I’ve never paid too much attention to psychology until I went through depression. I was first confused about what was happening to me and why I had internal battles between my negative thoughts and my conscience Intellect. I thought I was going mad until I had a better understanding of what depression is only then I could purposely force myself to do all that I needed to do in order for me to heal. I was on antidepressants for 9 months and now I’m totally fine. I won the battle. From that time I’ve been researching on how human brains work and I once mentioned to a friend that “now I understand why certain people behave so bad, it’s all in their heads!” and the brain is powerful. I rejected every negative thoughts and ideas in my head I think it’s because I had some kind of self awareness and I know my morals anand values. I would literally tell myself that “ no I’m not a person who would behave so bad” therefore I behaved opposite to my negative thoughts. Through those dark moments of my life I came out victorious. Faith played a big role in helping me cope and hope for a better day. Your discovery is amazing and I truly appreciate it. Thank you for sharing it with us. I will look for your book for deeper insights. Thanks
WTM Admin
Thank you for your thoughtful honesty, Rambla. Finally being able to understand the human-condition-battle between our instinct and intellect is so immensely relieving. We thought you would find psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen’s response to the question ‘How does understanding the human race’s condition help with an individual’s depression and psychosis? helpful, see FAQ 1.34 and also FAQ 1.35 ‘Does this heal anxiety?’ Significantly with this explanation of our condition we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can understand humans’ psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story presents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. So we can bring great compassion and kindness to ourselves and others and we don’t have to overly confront the upset within us (as FAQ 1.19 summarises).

A clear interview that connects all the answers to questions as why we became this way and how we can heal humanity. We are whole again. I literally been through hell myself but came out the other way. Healing the mind in a psychological way is healing life. Thank you so much for this!

I am hearing this for the first time...and consider this to be not only an honor, but an obligation to experience. Amongst all the horrible things that humans have done/gone, and are currently going through, a pandemic currently rages. Millions have died from it including my mother. Feeling helpless in it , and being homeless during it. I have been surviving, It’s been difficult. For the first time in a very long time I feel actual hope, knowing now that there are those out there with the information I’ve searched for everywhere.
This goes beyond appreciative comment. This is life changing. I’m moved in a way that I didn’t think possible anymore ...and so grateful for it ...Thank you, so much for this opportunity.
WTM Admin
Thank you for your wonderfully appreciative comment Robert and we are very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother and your struggles. This pandemic has been a terribly difficult time for so many and as Jeremy Griffith says at the beginning of THE Interview, “The turmoil and trauma of this pandemic has only amplified the now dire need in the world for a deeper, lasting solution to all the chaos and suffering in human life.” Thank goodness we now have the understanding humanity has been desperately in search of and can start to heal ourselves and our world.
Don G UK
The human race cannot exist without love. Nothing can. This is the only way to extinguish all the negativity that comes with hatred. We can all see the suffering that we are expected to endure with no questions asked. The same mistakes reapeated over and over. When the simple solution is there. Life can be so beautiful for us all. I loved this interview and many thanks for showing us the way it is meant to be.
WTM Admin
Thank you very much for your interest, Don. It’s worth reiterating here that in order to stop the suffering we see all around us and truly “extinguish all the negativity that comes with hatred”, we needed to understand our human condition — why, when the universal ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? It is this crux question that Jeremy Griffith confronts and answers through first principle biology because only through understanding the dark side of ourselves — why we departed from our all-loving instincts and became selfish — can we free ourselves from the human condition and legitimately love ourselves, each other and the world again. We recommend reading our FAQ 1.6, ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’

Sorry to disappoint you but your thinking is ancient! All sentient beings share the same emotions as we do. The fact that we think we are superior to animals indicates the problem lies with us that we are not able to communicate on their level. You find all these behavioral instincts in animals.
WTM Admin
Thanks for your feedback Peter. In THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains the key biological distinction between humans and other animals is that humans suffer from the conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition, not the genetic-opportunism-based, animal condition. Words used to describe our human behaviour such as egocentric, arrogant, inspired, depressed, deluded, pessimistic, optimistic, artificial, hateful, cynical, mean, sadistic, immoral, brilliant, guilt-ridden, evil, psychotic, neurotic and alienated, all recognise the involvement of OUR species’ fully conscious thinking mind. They demonstrate that there is a psychological dimension to our behaviour; that we don’t suffer from a genetic-opportunism-driven ‘animal condition’, but a conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled HUMAN CONDITION.
Matthew
Thank you for sharing
Ntutha Busane
How practical is your advice
WTM Admin
Thanks for you question Ntutha. It does take a little time to fully absorb the significance of finally being able to explain the human condition. What it means is we now have the ability, for the first time, to understand every aspect of human behaviour and our behaviour will change naturally as a result. At last we can understand we have been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because at last we have the first principle-based science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. This is the rapidly transforming practical effect of being able to understand the human condition which is fully explained and illustrated on our Transformation page. Also FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 explain the far-reaching application of this information and Freedom Essay 15 is all about ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith as there is so much helpful discussion taking place there about how this immensely redeeming and relieving knowledge transforms our lives!
Andrew SA
The secret of life lies between GOD and science.we really need to be very grateful to people like Mr Griffith. So all humans must go to work and learn more. Thanks a great deal 👍
WTM Admin
Great to have your interest Andrew. The human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’and is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so yes in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Of course this presents a massive paradigm shift in our thinking but what people discover is Jeremy Griffith’s work actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. In fact it presents the fulfillment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’ and FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’. It represents the end of faith and dogma and the beginning of knowing.
Helen May
An important and compellingly astute approach to the changing paradigm of the evolution of human consciousness. Conway’s style of interview is excellent and Griffith’s references to ancient history and to the animal kingdom as well as his confident knowledge provoke much thought and excite me too. Thank you for this.
Cory
I was on board through most of this interview but you lost me at the end. If we humans are inherently good then why does he say the modern left-wing only believe they are trying to help the world but they are only being selfish. Many of them are probably driven by a selfish gratification but since we as humans are good, why does he believe all leftists are doing it for selfish reasons? Can they not truly care for their fellow man?
WTM Admin
Thank you for your consideration, Cory. Jeremy Griffith’s biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wings of politics. For example, when we understand that the search for knowledge, namely the search for understanding of our ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition, has been all-important, we can see that, paradoxically, it is the left, not the right, that poses the real threat to humanity because the left’s dogmatically imposed idealism inhibits freedom of thought and that search for understanding. Jeremy is not demonising the left wing (indeed, in his book FREEDOM he acknowledges the importance of compassion in holding a society together) but rather explains from scientific first principles the serious threat posed by pseudo idealism to humanity’s ultimate goal of finding understanding. We suggest you visit our FAQs on politics, in particular FAQ 7.1 ‘How does understanding the human condition bring an end to the now horrifically polarised world of politics?’.
Jim
Both Buddha and Jesus have explained the root cause of human suffering already. Much is unconscious guilt and fear
WTM Admin
While Buddhism and Christianity contain all manner of truths about human life, it is coming from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why we are fundamentally good—answer the age-old question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here. What Jeremy is putting forward is that for there to be a fundamental solution to our human situation we had to understand the human condition – humans’ capacity for good and evil which is the source of the unconscious guilt and fear you speak of – from a biological perspective. You may find see FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’ of interest.

Veronica Marais
Good day,
Thank you for the info, now my question is! What is the solution?
Regards
Veronica Marais
WTM Admin
The solution is understanding the human condition and the legitimate return to a selfless way of living that brings about. To clarify, all the problems we’re experiencing on this planet, aside from natural phenomenon, are caused by us humans. We are the ones who are egocentric, selfish, greedy, materialistic, fake, angry as hell. And so it’s that underlying issue—our ‘good and evil’ stricken human condition—that has to be addressed and fixed if we are to solve the world’s problems and that is exactly what Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition does (see FAQs 1.5 & 1.6). And, as THE Interview explains, this will solve problems very quickly because instead of us being preoccupied with proving ourselves artificially (through seeking power, fame, fortune and glory) all our energies will be freed to truly work together and focus on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering in all the corners of the world. So, in a world fast going crazy from the effects of the human condition, this is the now desperately needed reconciling understanding that brings about a new world for humans FREE of the agony of the human condition. This is the understanding that ends human suffering at its source, and unites the human race (see FAQs 4.1, 4.4 & our Transformation page).

I disagree, while it is true that the human instinct driven by natural selection “tells” us to co-opatate with other people it also pushes us to compete inside of our tribe as well as fight against other tribes. This is seen in many species in the animal kingdom
WTM Admin
Thanks for your comment Peter. Genes have to be selfish to reproduce, which means that unconditionally selfless cooperation cannot normally develop between one sexually reproducing individual and another. As is mentioned in Part 3 of THE Interview recent theories such as ‘group selection’ and ‘self-domestication’ have attempted to get around this by arguing that genuine altruism or cooperation can arise through selection against aggression, but it is flawed biology because the reality is that any selfless behaviour will always be relentlessly selected against (see chapters 6.8 to 6.10 of FREEDOM). No, the only way that genuine cooperation or selflessness could develop was through the nurturing based love-indoctrination process, which is introduced in Part 3 of THE Interview, and which you can read more about in chapter 5 of FREEDOM. So, as is explained in Part 1, our selfish, competitive and aggressive behaviour is not due to savage instincts but is the result of a psychosis caused by the ‘instincts and intellect’ clash. We don’t suffer from a genetic-opportunism-driven ‘animal condition’, but a conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition.

Absolutely incredible explanation but will need to listen a few more times to fully grasp the concept.
My main question, however, is how did it all start? Perhaps that’s more for the astronomers to discover?!!
Now I know why I’ve always loved Bonobos!!
WTM Admin
Yes this critical new science is incredible Carole and presents a new way of thinking about humans so re-visiting THE Interview is something we recommend. The ‘big bang’ theory is currently the most popular explanation for the origin of the universe, but whatever happened in the beginning, time, space and the fundamental particles of matter, the building blocks of our universe, came into being. So starting from the big bang and the creation of the universe and the laws of physics, you can follow the development of the order of matter all the way to the development of conscious humans and their conflict with their instinctive self, and the resulting upset state of the human condition (see FREEDOMchapter 4:2 ‘The obvious truth of the development of order of matter on Earth’). What is certainly true is that humans will be in a far better position to think about the universe once we are no longer crippled by the human condition – our current all-preoccupying insecurity over our self worth. Also, given your interest in Bonobos, chapter 5 of Jeremy Griffith’s book FREEDOM further evidences what is explained in Part 3 of THE Interview about how cooperative and loving bonobos are and how bonobos demonstrate the nurturing based love-indoctrination process that created our cooperative instincts.

This is a beautiful explanation of the human condition. I believe in Science AND God, and that the two actually go hand in hand. Science is investigating God’s incredible creation, and dogma is man’s way of trying to control and war with God.

Thanks for your work. It is not an easy task to comprehend the phenomen of human consciousness in all its manifestations in different time epocks. Thank you for taking this on.
I imagine that such a grandiose task in term of tasks, sometimes you yourself seemed sad and ungrateful. But you nevertheless provided intellectual pleasure to the reader. Thank you.
Your social optimism is sincerely surprising. It is very dificult to come to this, but it is necessary (socially). To do this, you also need to make an intellectual effort, but this is right decision.
Althought there no grounds for social optimism, one must come to it oneself and bring others. Necessary. You have accomplished a socially significant task.
Thank you.

What is the human condition Jeremy and why? If you really have the answer to full freedom for mankind you must be greater than the one God sent and your not. If your not pointing people to him then you also remain just a humanist with Band-AIDS.
WTM Admin
In THE Interview Jeremy Griffith presents what the human condition is and his explanation for why it occurred but you might find this brief FAQ 1.3 helpful. As is explained for us to be able to truly free ourselves from the human condition, and not just put another bandaid on it, we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this age-old question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. We thought it worth mentioning Jeremy’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God it simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. Although this is science, it is based on a Godly nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being briefly explained in THE Interview as being the integrative meaning of existence (see our FAQs about religion especially FAQs ‘What is God’ and ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’).

Thank you for this information. Finally took time to listen to the interview, I dont fully understand all of it but I am able to acknowledge that I can let go of the difficult struggles my mind has been fighting against for so long. Thank you very much.
Damien
Why am I not transformed by this?
WTM Admin
Thanks for your interest Damien. This explanation produces a huge paradigm shift so there is much to absorb, and you have to allow yourself time to do that, but Part 4 of THE Interview, titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’, does present the answer to how this understanding allows us to transform our lives. It explains that it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses importantly we can be immediately free of its effects. At last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world. How this healing is immediately open to us all is further explained in Freedom Essay 15 ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’ and the Transformation section of our website is brimming with invaluable insight and personal affirmations.

Thank you!!
Carole
I really hope this grows the teeth it needs culturally. The opposing ends of the current political narrative is the global powder keg that needs diffusing, much more, this would bring so much health the damaged human psyche. How does one bring better energy forward fast enough before the negative forces at work create the demise (whole or part) of humankind?
WTM Admin
What is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is that it defends our so-called ‘dark side. In reconciling instinct vs intellect, the explanation of the human condition also brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Your concept is very interesting, but, I wonder if, when you say the human race, are you including people of color or just Caucasian. It would make sense. They are a big part of the human race.
WTM Admin
The explanation of the human condition pertains to all humans! Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition brings compassionate and thus safe understanding to ALL of human behaviour, be it our individual lives, or politics, religion, the relationship between men and women, or different races, etc. What you discover is this explanation unravels the seemingly impenetrable and insoluble confusion of human life — including why the horror of racism has existed under the duress of the human condition and, most importantly, finally brings it to an end! This desperately needed reconciling understanding of the reality of differences between races is explained in Freedom Essay 28. And for a testimonial on the power of this information to end racism, we recommend watching/reading the presentation from Franklin Mukakanga, of Zambia, in Video/Freedom Essay 8.

Simple explanation of Instinct and Intellect. Yet, it has taken Humanity 2 million years of conflict and scientific understanding to explain that people are fundamentally good by nature. Perhaps, we can move into a mindset of unconditional love as generational barriers are torn down.
WTM Admin
Yes, we can now explain that when we humans developed a conscious mind some 2 million years ago, a battle unavoidably developed between it and our already established instincts. The result of this conflict between our instinct and intellect was that we became psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric — the upset state we refer to as the human condition. But now that we can explain and understand this conflict, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition. And while, as Part 4 of THE Interview explains, it will take generations for the upset within us to be completely healed, importantly we can be immediately free of its effects, see FAQ 1.5.

Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. In terms of Christianity and Christ, Jeremy does consider the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from that pre-science view, and he has written about Christ’s life and its phenomenal importance in humanity’s journey in Freedom Essay 39. Our FAQs about religion are also helpful. You might also be interested in our FAQs on politics.

Maria Montessori was a contributor to this theory. She spent endless hours observing the child in the family and society. Her work should also be credited to this theory.

As THE Interview explains, despite our competitive and selfish behaviour we have always intuitively believed we were fundamentally good, but we have never been able to explain this contradictory, conflicted condition — until now. Using first principle-based biology, Jeremy Griffith explains that understanding why the intellect had to defy our cooperative ‘good’ instincts and become psychologically upset, or ‘bad’, could we resolve our species’ psychosis and legitimately return to the nurturing, loving and sensitive state we once lived in, that children, in their innocence, still instinctively expect, and which Maria Montessori recognised and sought to emulate with her education system. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy Griffith’s work. And for more about how having this core mystery of human behaviour solved transforms the human race, see our Transformation page.
Eva MOLNAR
Very interesting! I will surely read the book with great enthusiasms. The loving and cooperating instinct sounds, however, a bit unrealistically idealised condition. What about socio-economic conditions, e.g. when scarcity forces the “fittest will survive” attitude?
WTM Admin
Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm, Eva. We suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how realistic and accountable it actually is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset. As THE Interview explains we do have completely loving and selfless instincts (as a result of the nurturing love-indoctrination process explained in Part 3), and that our greed and conflict isn’t the product of limited resources, but a psychosis resulting from a clash between our emerging conscious mind and those pre-established instincts. Selfishness, which is what fighting over resources is, is a symptom of the underlying, deep insecurity in humans caused by the human condition, so if we solve that condition we resolve any competition over resources. Solving the human condition meant answering the essential question of why, when the ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? It is this question of questions that Jeremy has solved. To quote FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding solve everything’: “So, in a world fast going crazy from the effects of the human condition, this is the now desperately needed reconciling understanding that brings about a new world for humans FREE of the agony of the human condition. This is the understanding that ends human suffering at its source, and unites the human race.”

Firstly I must apologize for using my mother tongue to make my comment about THE Interview, cause it would be too difficult an long to explain my feelings about it in good and plain English .
[I read with interest The Interview which distinguishes itself from the innumerable evangelist messages by a biological approach explaining human behaviour. This biological approach received a definitive answer with the work of Henri LABORIT whose conclusions are recorded in his essays but more accessible to the public in the film which exposes them ”My Uncle from America“ and nothing can ever contradict them! If I pay tribute to the approach of the INTERVIEW, I think it is as vain as the approach of Jesus, you will tell me if the Leaders of the Planet who never stop threatening each other and accumulating the most terrible weapons of destruction, like condemning conscientious objectors and eliminating ”deserters", do these Leaders pay any attention to the interview? Various thinkers have identified a clash between an ancient instinctive part of our brain and the more recently developed intellectual part as being critical to understanding the human condition (see for example Freedom Essay 4 which includes an analysis of Paul MacLean’s triune brain theory), however what Jeremy Griffith is presenting is a completely new take on this basic pattern. We can now understand that unlike other animals our human ancestors developed completely loving and cooperative instincts through the nurturing based love-indoctrination process (which is explained in Part 3 of THE Interview). It can then be explained that the source of angry, egocentric behaviour is not selfish, survival instincts within us, or the thwarting of our reptilian brain’s impulses, but is due to a universal psychosis caused by a clash between those loving, but dictatorial instincts, and our emerging intellect. We recommend reading FAQ 1.13 “Is this idea original or new? / How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?”, as it explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.
And you might also be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

I would love to hear your view of Dr Jordan Petersen and vv [vice versa].
His thinking and yours are both extraordinary.
WTM Admin
Thank you very much, Ian. The fundamental problem the human race has always had is to explain or justify competitive, selfish and aggressive behaviour. That is the issue of the human condition that Jeremy Griffith finally explains and why his work is of unique importance to the survival of the world. After THE Interview we encourage people to watch/read our Introductory Videos/Freedom Essays 1-4 and 14 on our homepage, and you will see in Video/Freedom Essay 14 that Jeremy discusses Jordan Peterson’s work, which he describes as immensely heroic yet ultimately doomed, because only the psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real explanation of the human condition can stop the destruction of our world and the disintegration of society that is happening everywhere we look. It is precisely this real psychologically redeeming and transforming explanation that Jeremy has delivered in his first principle-based biological understanding of the human condition. But while Peterson does not explain the biology of the human condition correctly, Jeremy is very appreciative of his work, referring to it in an essay that was published in Spectator Magazine.

Thank you for laying this out. Unfortunately, using biology to debase an entire political party reveals another sad truth about solving the human condition: we have a long way to go.
WTM Admin
Jeremy Griffith’s biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition allows us to understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work certainly doesn’t excuse the right-wing for its corrupting behaviour, nor unfairly focus on the failing of the left, which is that its insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing the search for knowledge, but rather brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.

Inspiring and informative commentary about some issues that will help me to become a better man so I can set my mind free.
Susan Tompkins
I’ve really enjoyed listening to this, and so very true too, but I believe the reason us humans can become egocentric, angry and alienated is because of survival. We need to know that we can survive and also our offspring will follow our survival methods too, but unfortunately it’s all to do with money, and humans become greedy and nasty towards others and some are too weak to face there world, so become dependent on things like benefits.
WTM Admin
Thank you for your thoughts, Susan. We suggest the more you absorb what is presented in THE Interview, the more you will realise that it explains humans’ selfish and “greedy” compulsion for material wealth is not driven by instincts to “survive” but the product of a universal psychosis, caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect, and a psychosis is changeable as it can be healed through understanding. Basically, saying our selfish and aggressive behaviour is a manifestation of survival or selfish instincts was just a convenient excuse while we searched for the psychosis-addressing-and-solving real explanation of our divisive behaviour (see FAQ 1.29 ‘Is the human condition biological or psychological’). It takes time to see how this biological understanding stops our selfishness and greed but because it addresses the core insecurity that has been driving it, it actually does (see FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’).

I work in the emergency field and it never ceases to amaze me how cruel people can be to each other. It’s sad
WTM Admin
Thank you for your comment, Rachel. Yes, we are certainly in critical need of a deeper understanding of ourselves so we can put an end to all the suffering and horror that our condition creates. And we suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset, which in the extreme, produces people who are capable of cruelty. Of course this breakthrough explanation doesn’t condone or sanction the horrendous atrocities humans can commit rather, through bringing compassionate understanding to the source of humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it, see FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’. As the late Professor Harry Prosen, psychiatrist and former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, said: ‘I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.’

What about the fact that Bonobos hunt and kill monkeys and have been described as merciless by Plank institute’s Gottfried Hohmann of Evolutionary Anthropology
WTM Admin
While there are remnants of selfish reciprocity, sexual opportunism and aggression in bonobo behaviour, as indicated in THE Interview they are extraordinarily nurturing, and extraordinarily gentle and cooperative. Bonobos’ engagement in opportunistic hunting is discussed in Jeremy Griffith’s definitive book FREEDOM, ch. 2:11 ‘Multilevel Selection theory for eusociality’, which includes reference to Hohmann’s studies. To quote “While bonobos have been known to capture and eat small game, including small monkeys, to supplement their diet with protein, they are not known to routinely hunt down and eat large animals such as colobus monkeys, like chimpanzees do, with ‘hunting behavior [by bonobos] very rare’ (Tetsuya Sakamaki…). [E.O.] Wilson relies upon a 2008 report by [Gottfried] Hohmann titled ‘Primate hunting by bonobos at LuiKotale, Salonga National Park’ to draw these erroneous comparisons with the more aggressive chimpanzees—but Hohmann’s report actually reveals extraordinary differences between bonobos and chimpanzees…”
We are proposing that without understanding of the human condition, humans have found the cooperative and gentle nature of bonobos (and our cooperative heritage depicted in myths) highly confronting of our own upset state (dealt with at length in FREEDOMchs. 5 & 6) and instead want to use chimpanzee’s aggressive nature as a model for human behaviour (which supports the false ‘savage instincts’ excuse addressed in this interview). This quote from primatologist Frans de Waal, who refers to the bonobos as ‘the forgotten ape’, supports this (see ch. 6:6): “Two strategies have emerged to keep bonobos at a distance so as to preserve chimpanzee-based scenarios of human evolution, which traditionally emphasize warfare, hunting, tool use, and male dominance. The first strategy is to describe the bonobo as an interesting but specialized anomaly that can be safely ignored as a possible model of the last common ancestor… The second strategy, adopted by [Craig] Stanford, is to minimize the differences between the two Pan species: if bonobos behave, by and large, like chimpanzees, there is no reason to question the latter species’ prominence as a model”.

Very Interesting.
Bela Pinho
Using the ladder of instinctive behavior: understanding instinct and the way being subdued by it causes suffering and lack of compassion towards ourselves is the foundation of walking towards light - meaning understanding what humans are able to become.
The basic tools to start out on the path of Growth towards Knowledge/Light is not be conditioned by religious dogmatism.
WTM Admin
Thanks for your thoughts, Bela. Yes, as THE Interview explains, for humans to return to our original cooperative and loving instinctive behaviour, we had to first confront and solve the human condition. We had to answer the age-old question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. It is only with the intellect defended for why it had to defy our loving instincts and become angry, egocentric and alienated, do we have the “foundation” to legitimately “walk towards light”, that is, return to that non-upset ideal state or home we’ve longed for, but with understanding, in a fully conscious way; as the poet T.S. Eliot anticipated, ‘We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time’ (Little Gidding, 1942). And while that search for liberating knowledge was underway, it is true that religion in-effect condemned the conscious mind’s all-important search for knowledge, however we can now appreciate that religion has played a significant role as both the custodian of the ideal state and as a means of solace for those exhausted by the corrupting journey; our FAQs about the demystification of religion may be of interest.

Thanks
Everyone who wants to read the Bible (or the Coran, or .....), has to read Freedom by Jeremy Griffith first. Everyone who has read the Bible (or the Coran, or .....), has to read Freedom now. Everyone who is religious or not, has to read Freedom now.
This looks like humanity is about to turn a page on the book of life. This gives me hope for the future my grandchildren will live in.
Yes I agree

A great video clip
Excited to hear of this and meet others who are excited by Jeremy’s explanation
Very interesting.
Keep me informed. Hope for future. H
A clear interview that connects all the answers to questions as why we became this way and how we can heal humanity. We are whole again. I literally been through hell myself but came out the other way. Healing the mind in a psychological way is healing life. Thank you so much for this!
I like reading and this article attracted my attention and read through it. I am convinced that this medical breakthrough will save compromised people around the world millions of dollars and peace in treating most ailments that are attacking the human race. I am excited.
I like the opinions.
Great video. At last , a voice of reason and wisdom.
I really appreciated the interview and the way it was done. I think it added to the program.
Very interesting and easy to learn from.
His wording is clear and to the point. Easy to understand, brilliantly done.
Sorry to disappoint you but your thinking is ancient! All sentient beings share the same emotions as we do. The fact that we think we are superior to animals indicates the problem lies with us that we are not able to communicate on their level. You find all these behavioral instincts in animals.
Thank you for sharing
How practical is your advice
The secret of life lies between GOD and science.we really need to be very grateful to people like Mr Griffith. So all humans must go to work and learn more. Thanks a great deal 👍
An important and compellingly astute approach to the changing paradigm of the evolution of human consciousness. Conway’s style of interview is excellent and Griffith’s references to ancient history and to the animal kingdom as well as his confident knowledge provoke much thought and excite me too. Thank you for this.
Both Buddha and Jesus have explained the root cause of human suffering already. Much is unconscious guilt and fear
I need to listen to that interview asap!
The Interview touched a place in my deepest part of me..its insight lit up something forgotten in my heart.. it reminded of who I Am. I yearn for more.. gratefully 💫
Thank you guys love i 💕
Good day, Thank you for the info, now my question is! What is the solution? Regards Veronica Marais
You are immense.. s Me! 🤗🔥☀️
I certainly would love to hear his explanations for so many things we have been experiencing , especially the last 10 years.
Great to have your interest Barbara. Most wonderfully, Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation answers the ultimate question of the origin of the psychologically upset state of the human condition, and with that core mystery and problem about human behaviour explained, an avalanche of answers to related questions do finally become accessible. After THE Interview we suggest you explore Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM—you can see the Contents here for all it explains—and also our extensive FAQ facility is most helpful. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy and others as there is so much helpful and practical discussion taking place there about this immensely relieving knowledge!

Absolut Brill Interview.. An Eye Opener.. BRILLIANT..!!!
Excellent insight.
I just am so thankful for this wonderful explanation
I am glad to come aross this interview. The sooner we put this to practice we all come have a change to help to live in this world of ours. Thank you.
Thank you!
I disagree, while it is true that the human instinct driven by natural selection “tells” us to co-opatate with other people it also pushes us to compete inside of our tribe as well as fight against other tribes. This is seen in many species in the animal kingdom
Very interesting
Best inerviuv, I ve ever ceen .thak you and God .beautiful for ever .praise God for all amen
Absolutely incredible explanation but will need to listen a few more times to fully grasp the concept. My main question, however, is how did it all start? Perhaps that’s more for the astronomers to discover?!! Now I know why I’ve always loved Bonobos!!
So starting from the big bang and the creation of the universe and the laws of physics, you can follow the development of the order of matter all the way to the development of conscious humans and their conflict with their instinctive self, and the resulting upset state of the human condition (see FREEDOM chapter 4:2 ‘The obvious truth of the development of order of matter on Earth’).
One-of-a-kind eye-opener trail blazer interview of the century.
(Continued). Am so thrilled with this interview that I’m alerting friends about it to spread the good news. Thank you, Jeremy.
As my language is german my question is if there are any Translations? Thanks, Brigitte
Yes Brigitte, our main website is available in German at https://www.humancondition.com/de/ and it provides written translations and voice-overs for THE Interview and the key Video/Freedom Essays 1-11 & 14. (You also might like to visit the WTM Austrian Centre, the WTM Bregenz Centre, the WTM Graz Centre and the WTM Switzerland Centre, as all of their Centre websites are provided in German.) So there is a feast of material freely available! Also, you can see all the other publications including THE Interivew that are available in Afrikaans, Dutch, French, Greek, Polish and Spanish here.
This is a beautiful explanation of the human condition. I believe in Science AND God, and that the two actually go hand in hand. Science is investigating God’s incredible creation, and dogma is man’s way of trying to control and war with God.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback Colette. The human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’and is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained.
Enlightening and most interesting. Need to listen to it again a few times more.
How wonderful -Well-selected information, answering many today’s questions and within ordinary people’s reach-Thank you Sir-Waiting for further interviews of the same kind-
Thanks for your work. Thank you. I wish you health and prosperity. Respectfully yours, Olga Goncharuk
Very revealing. Need to learn more
Best interview ever. Thank you 👏
Thank you for sharing this valuable information
We need this lesson very much
Sorry guys never heard soooo much gobildygook. Tooo many emotive adjectives. Impossible to follow and the story is so simple...sad..
What is the human condition Jeremy and why? If you really have the answer to full freedom for mankind you must be greater than the one God sent and your not. If your not pointing people to him then you also remain just a humanist with Band-AIDS.
Why am I not transformed by this?
Thank you!!
What is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is that it defends our so-called ‘dark side. / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’In reconciling instinct vs intellect, the explanation of the human condition also brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. This is fully explained in our FAQs about politics.Hi, great idea - walk the talk, it makes life more meaningful, ok
I love this. I do love love. I appreciate this I always Love others but this is helping me love me. Freedom has such power. I’m praying for it for all of mankind and myself. Thank you for the gift of this book and knowledge. How may I be of service for this movement. Bless a healing of peace and truth for all of the conscious of all. We are One.

Your concept is very interesting, but, I wonder if, when you say the human race, are you including people of color or just Caucasian. It would make sense. They are a big part of the human race.
Thank you for all your work and research in putting this presentation together.
What is the answer?
This explanation produces a huge paradigm shift so there is much to absorb but Part 4 of THE Interview, titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’, does present the answer to how we can heal. It explains it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses importantly we can be immediately free of its effects.

Thankyou so much, I must investigate further.
Simple explanation of Instinct and Intellect. Yet, it has taken Humanity 2 million years of conflict and scientific understanding to explain that people are fundamentally good by nature. Perhaps, we can move into a mindset of unconditional love as generational barriers are torn down.
Wow, excellent. I am geologist, it is very interesting about this developing. Thank you, I like, very nice.
? How does Jesus fit in this and is Jesus classified as a liberal or conservative.
Congrats from Lisbon
Amazing
Simply brilliant!
Thank you doctor, this is excellent, you are blessed for helping me to understand and change my thoughts to life.
That sounds good, I mean it sounds awesome. I would love for the world to be at peace because the way it’s going it’s not good, like I said that sounds good what you’re saying
I always said people are basically good. Thank you.
Amazing thought provoking interview
Awesome, healthy a change we all need in this world 🌎 a healing within ourselves Thank You for your korero [conversation], love to know more
Maria Montessori was a contributor to this theory.
Very interesting! I will surely read the book with great enthusiasms. The loving and cooperating instinct sounds, however, a bit unrealistically idealised condition. What about socio-economic conditions, e.g. when scarcity forces the “fittest will survive” attitude?
This is the understanding that ends human suffering at its source, and unites the human race.”Jeremy’s books are immediately available for free here on our homepage. This includes his definitive book FREEDOM and the booklet version of THE Interview. You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon.Merci, très intéressant! [Thank you, very interesting! (translated from French)]
(translated from French)]
Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’Living in a cruel world and a people full of hate, anger and an egocentric society. It’s imperative that everyone gets ahold of this book which I believe is life-changing for the greater good of the human species. I’m looking for it already and thank you.
Hi Lindah, yes, the world desperately needs this redeeming, rehabilitating explanation of the human condition, and for this reason the WTM is doing everything it can to disseminate it, including making all information and materials we provide free of charge. This includes Jeremy Griffith’s definitive book FREEDOM, and the booklet version of THE Interview — which can be accessed here on our website. You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon.
I would love to hear your view of Dr Jordan Petersen and vv [vice versa]. His thinking and yours are both extraordinary.
Today is the first day in 66-years-or-so that I have felt clear, calm, peaceful, and quiet, with a stillness embracing my core that I thought was forever lost. Thank you Jeremy and everyone contributing to this Movement.
This interview is the key to have a wonderful teaching which can help us to have an healthy living. I command the authors for their scientific knowledge and I take the task to extend it to all my friends. Thank you so much. Wendell Caude.
I’m anxious to get insight from these writings.

Thank you for laying this out. Unfortunately, using biology to debase an entire political party reveals another sad truth about solving the human condition: we have a long way to go.
We need this more than anything right now — constructive thinking without preconditions.
It was a really Great revelation and I love It and soon I really think I Will buy the book: LIBERATIIN [FREEDOM (translated from Italian)] 😊
Inspiring and informative commentary about some issues that will help me to become a better man so I can set my mind free.
Utopia end results...I advocate that 200%... the peace and thoughtfulness instilled in communities ... PRICELESS
We can see and hear what the conflict within ourselves is caused by. I hope the scientific community get behind it and start to promote this knowledge.
Need some decent content of journalism in this world. Thanks.
I work in the emergency field and it never ceases to amaze me how cruel people can be to each other. It’s sad
[E.O.] Wilson relies upon a 2008 report by [Gottfried] Hohmann titled ‘Primate hunting by bonobos at LuiKotale, Salonga National Park’ to draw these erroneous comparisons with the more aggressive chimpanzees—but Hohmann’s report actually reveals extraordinary differences between bonobos and chimpanzees…”We are proposing that without understanding of the human condition, humans have found the cooperative and gentle nature of bonobos (and our cooperative heritage depicted in myths) highly confronting of our own upset state (dealt with at length in FREEDOM chs. The first strategy is to describe the bonobo as an interesting but specialized anomaly that can be safely ignored as a possible model of the last common ancestor… The second strategy, adopted by [Craig] Stanford, is to minimize the differences between the two Pan species: if bonobos behave, by and large, like chimpanzees, there is no reason to question the latter species’ prominence as a model”.I am very interested to learn more about this idea

This is the TRUTH. Thank you! God Bless! Let us live by the truth! What a beautiful World will emerge!
Very Interesting.
