Richard Russell

As a Spiritual Counselor for the past 16 years, my message has been we as humans are a “Perfect Child of God”. The idea of we are Bad was a human construct. Jeremy’s approach takes the same concept and presents it in a non Spiritual way that non religious people can accept.

WTM Admin

Yes Richard, the human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ and is therefore the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Jeremy Griffith’s treatise actually reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to pre-scientific concepts. You might be interested in our FAQs about religion. FAQ 6.2 for example, explains that, “Obviously what was desperately missing was the reconciling understanding of our upset behaviour and the Godly ideals; reconciling understanding of the human condition in fact—which is exactly what Jeremy Griffith presents us with. With the understanding of the human condition that explains why we departed from those Godly ideals, no longer does anybody have to preach, or be terrorised by, religious dogma.”

Lynne Edwards

My mum gave me Richard Bach’s ‘Jonathon Livingstone Seagull’ for my 14th birthday,( in Yeppoon Qld) I daresay in an attempt to answer my never-ending questions as a curious kiddie. Thus she set me securely upon my lifelong quest for some sort of understanding. She died a few years later and the loss of her maternal devotion and support knocked me off my self-ordained path somehow - or perhaps on to it - and I went on to have 3 sons and 3 daughters who have all proved also to be devoted parents to their many children (in the UK) Every day something unexpected turns up and today this interview was it. The first few minutes reminded me of the newly-thinking seagull. The section of maternal nurturing absolved me of my guilt at not continuing to work in theatre, my first passion. As I always knew I would, I will continue to enjoy working out ways of binding my 6 decades of experience into a coherent helpful satisfying whole. Life is Play, Life is a Play? Thank you for this completion of my particular little circle of intellectual soul inquiry. I’ll be back in Sydney next month. Life is good. Thank you.

WTM Admin

Thank you Lynne, for this very thoughtful feedback. Certainly there has been a recognition in literature (and by profound thinkers generally) that there must be something better than our current human condition-afflicted state. However many people have deluded themselves that this liberated state could be achieved through people artificially restraining, sublimating and even transcending their upset, corrupted condition, but the truth is that this state could only be achieved by confronting, truthfully thinking about, and finally explaining and thus solving the human condition at its source, which is what Jeremy Griffith has done. In the end it was only getting to the bottom of it all that could fulfil Richard Bach’s allegorical quest for perfection, the “satisfying whole” state you speak of.

Muhammad A.

Masterpiece! Just wondering how this knowledge could be used as a blueprint to solving global problems across the world. Understandably, most problems across the world is psychological ...

WTM Admin

Thank you for your enthusiasm, Muhammad, and your question. Part 4 of THE Interview, titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’, presents the answer to how this understanding allows us to transform our lives. It explains that it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses importantly we can be immediately free of its effects. Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of being focused on power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world. How this healing is immediately open to us all is summarised in FAQ 1.5 and FAQ 1.40 addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? How are you going to reach the bastions of power?’. As the late Professor Harry Prosen, psychiatrist and former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, said: ‘I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.’

If we start now time will be on our side for the future generations. Blessed are you Jeremy.

I am a lifelong observer of the magnificent effects of the Scandinavian nations creating a society which evokes a caring attitude to the society and world around them or at very least, not competing and destroying. People from everywhere remark on it. I hope the modality you’ve discovered can achieve something like that. How we do that globally without the enlightened being fodder for the savages (in so many ways). I don’t know. Contact me.

WTM Admin

Hi Pat, socialism attempted to bring about a cooperative society without first getting to the bottom of the human condition, but what Jeremy Griffith is putting forward is that for there to be a fundamental change in our human situation we had to understand the human condition – humans’ capacity for good and evil – from a biological perspective. As he explains in Part 4 of THE Interview “there’s one more thing I should explain, which is that socialism, the new age movement, the politically correct movement, and all the other idealistic movements, were actually all false starts to a human-condition-free world because the upsetting battle to find knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, the psychologically relieving understanding of why we are good and not bad, still had to be completed. In fact, while dogmatically insisting that everyone should be cooperative and loving could make you feel that you were doing good and be superficially psychologically very relieving, such insistence on ideal behaviour denied people the freedom they needed to be able to continue the all-important upsetting search for knowledge. These movements were pseudo idealistic movements that stifled and oppressed the search for the understanding of our corrupted condition that was needed to actually free us from that state. They were regressive, not progressive as they deluded themselves they were. It was actually the right-wing who have supported the upsetting battle to find knowledge that held the moral high ground, not the pseudo idealistic left-wing.” We suggest you visit our FAQs about politics, in particular 7.3 ‘How does the left wing explain human nature’ which focuses on the origin and progression of cooperation-not-competition-supporting, selflessness-not-selfishness-emphasising left-wing thinking, and should be read in conjunction with Freedom Essay 35 ‘Death by Dogma’.

Allan Rilley

Becoming more and more interested in this information. Very erudite.

Olufemi James Akinyemi

He has a brilliant idea about the human condition and the world.

Sab

Loved the information. I agree with many of your propositions. I found the statement regarding the necessity of separation from deity i.e. disobedience to nature, interesting. I will ponder the signicance, and apply premises to my own paradigm. Thank you Jeremy, and Craig for your splendid interview. G_d bless, Sab

WTM Admin

Thank you very much, Sab, for your appreciative comment. Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition brings biological understanding to religious accounts of our condition, which means we can at last reconcile science and religion. For instance, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or disobedient; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! It establishes that we are good and not bad after all. What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race and allows us to forgive ourselves and others and finally end our psychologically troubled human condition — it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough. You might be interested in our FAQs about religion, especially 6.2 ‘What is God’. Also there are Jeremy’s Freedom Essays 38 – 41 about the demystification of religion which we think you will find absolutely fascinating.

Congratulations!!! The greatest task of human beings is to be able to explain themselves to themselves. English people show genius again.

MIROSLAV MARKOVIC

But how will everyone be exposed to the ideas and understand this, how do you include it in everyday living. What is it that we must change. Surely just watching the interview wont change the world. What must we do differently

WTM Admin

THE Interview explains that all the dysfunction and destruction in the world are manifestations of the ‘instinct vs intellect’ conflict within each of us that has produced the psychologically upset state of the human condition. But what is so powerful about the explanation of the human condition is that by solving the discord at its source, it brings an end to all the terrible, and seemingly overwhelmingly problems that surround us – indeed it is the only way to bring an end to all the symptoms of our psychologically upset condition. By explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts (which is that genes can orientate but nerves need to understand) means all our defensive and apathetic behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant; they can stop. You might be interested in reading FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 as they explain the far-reaching practical, physical applications of this understanding and Freedom Essay 15 ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’. Also our Transformation page contains invaluable insight and personal affirmations as to the ‘how to’. We’d especially recommend you join our Facebook Group and register for our live events with Jeremy Griffith because there is much helpful and practical discussion taking place about this immensely relieving knowledge.

Insightful

William

Amazing insight put into understandable words. What the world needs now.

Reuben

I fully agree with you 100%, very informative.

Lara Morrone

Very glad to have had listened carefully to PH.D. Griffith. His findings and words reflect what you come to conclusion when put in practice, integrating and understanding spiritual teachings. We work a lot on what is called “spiritual by-passing”, which is indeed the denial of the shadow parts of our own self (the darkness, the “lower” instincts) but we need to own them, through understanding and compassion, that’s how healing is done. So Thank you for putting it together, scientifically speaking, a language that for many is more understandable, therefore undeniable.

WTM Admin

Yes, well put Lara – as Carl Jung famously said, “wholeness for humans depends on the ability to own our own shadow”, and what Jeremy has provided is the all-important clarifying, redeeming, reconciling and psychologically rehabilitating explanation for why the conflict between our instincts and our consciousness occurred, producing the upset state of the human condition. Until that was found, humans couldn’t relieve ourselves of that “shadow”, that “darkness”. This is why this understanding is being heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world (FAQ 6.5 explains the critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the New Age Movement).

Claire Meredith

I’ve felt often that the story of Adam and Eve has contributed to the confusion of our true nature. That we are born good not as inherently bad. Not understanding the metaphor has enabled the flourishing of true evil.

WTM Admin

Thanks Claire. As Part 2 of THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! We recommend our FAQs on religion.

I’ve listened for a good half hour never been a good listener but this is very interesting. It makes you look differently at the way we live. Im going to listen more when I get free time as I’m working, how do I get a copy of this book? thank you 😊

shawnwalsh

although i find this video highly logical, i must remember, Corinthians Ch 1; 26-31 also CH2; 1-16 also Isaiah CH 55; 8-9, God Bless you Sir.

WTM Admin

We recommend reading FAQ 6.3 which explains that the great founding prophets of religion actually looked forward to the arrival of the reconciling understanding of the human condition — which means supporters of religion shouldn’t see Jeremy’s scientific demystification of religious teachings as undermining of faith, but as religious fulfillment!

Chicochad

Is this the reason for right-wing rhetoric and Donald Trump and all the other popularist dictators.

WTM Admin

In his book FREEDOM, Jeremy explains the twin political problems we have are the brutality of the right-wing’s need to continue the corrupting search for knowledge free from too much condemning idealism, and the left-wing’s dishonest and deluded dogmatic imposition of pseudo-idealistic politically correct values. However, as THE Interview explains, freedom of thought and individualism, sustained by the incentives of materialism and capitalism which right-wing constitutions uphold, are what maintained humanity’s heroic search for knowledge, ultimately for self-knowledge. And so paradoxically it was the right-wing that actually held the moral high ground and the left-wing that posed the real threat to humanity due to the fact that its dogmatically imposed pseudo-idealism gravely endangers freedom of thought and the search for understanding. Now the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition has at last been solved we can understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wings of politics and bring the whole necessary but ugly business of politics to an end (see our FAQs about politics).

Sash Sobrun

Excellent, so refreshing listening to intelligent talk .

Angela

I have no words to describe my feelings of bliss after watching and listening to your information video. This all makes perfect sense and the world is desperately in need of your healing. It is my wish that the Human Condition be taught in our schools, collages and Universities, in the home, work place and in the media. Your teachings, wisdom and truth will restore peace and harmony in our world and readily accessible to all. In time a miracle will occur as the human mind learns and accepts we are here on Gods Earth to love and care for ourselves, others and our precious planet. We are at our core goodness and through love, acceptance and forgiveness we may find Heaven on Earth. May Peace be with each and every one of you.

WTM Admin

What a beautiful reaction, Angela, thank you. Yes, it is astonishing to finally have the human condition solved, our existence made sense of and be able to legitimately return to our natural loving state to “restore peace and harmony in our world”. And to do this science had to answer the the crux question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving and selfless are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith has answered with his redeeming, reconciling and thus healing ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation and why it is being heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world (FAQ 6.5 explains the critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the New Age Movement).

Jo Marshall

Makes so much sense… I never believed the sex n survival n putting ourselves over others! Thank you so much!

WTM Admin

Yes, Jo, it does make total sense! As Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview, “As Charles Darwin said, ‘The moral sense…affords the best and highest distinction between man and the lower animals’ (The Descent of Man, 1871, ch.4). Of course, to have acquired these cooperative, selfless and loving moral instincts our distant ape ancestors must have lived cooperatively, selflessly and lovingly, otherwise how else could we have acquired them? Our ape ancestors can’t have been brutal, club-wielding, competitive and aggressive savages as we have been taught, rather they must have lived in a Garden of Eden-like state of cooperative, selfless and loving innocent gentleness.” And so if we do have these loving and cooperative instincts (the expression of which is our conscience), then it means that the source of our aggressive and selfish behaviour cannot be ‘savage instincts’ as we have been taught. We now know that our destructive behaviour is not due to savage instincts but is the result of a psychosis caused by the ‘instincts and intellect’ clash. It does all make sense now. You might be interested in Freedom Essay 21, where you can read more about how we developed our loving, moral soul or instinctive self.

Aleksandra N.

Needed to see it 3 times all 3 first videos. I am a natural blonde so there is hope, hahaha Thank you for sharing this knowledge Jeremy Griffith and thank you for this feeling, there are no words to describe when I finally got it, amazing! Special thank you for the men from South Afrika, he said what I felt and any doubts I might have had and opened my mind completely to absorb all the knowledge. I recommend to everyone to watch all the videos not just this one!

WTM Admin

You have proved what we know about persevering Aleksandra! The fundamental explanation is very simple but it does open up the historically off-limits subject of the human condition so it is common people initially struggle to ‘hear’ what is being explained, see FAQ 1.16. Re-watching THE Interview is exactly what we recommend. Also there is a series of videos that follow THE Interview which elaborate on what it outlines—so there’ll be some repetition, but going over the concepts in more detail does help with the understanding and absorption of them. Click here to start watching!

Lilian Van Der Schyff

Great insight thank you

Diane Williamson

AT last ! Someone else who also understands the Adam and Eve story is an allegory and our true original selves are naturally good, selfless and caring. I enjoyed this very much and we need recognised “natural” scientists to explain these things to the general public. I will be listening to this several more times. “World Transformation” got me in immediately! Animals are naturally protective of their young so why not we humans? It IS natural to be good, to want and need a harmonious safe environment. The stories about the bonobos are fascinating!!

WTM Admin

Yes!! As is explained in Part 2 of THE Interview, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! And we totally agree, the explanation of our nurturing based origins in Part 3 resonate with a deep knowingness inside ourselves, and are absolutely fascinating.     Diane, at the top of our homepage—HumanCondition.com—it states ‘WHAT NEXT after watching THE Interview?’ and guides you through the steps to pursue your interest! This includes joining our popular Facebook Group. It is also worth mentioning that all Jeremy Griffith’s books are freely available on the website.

Amazing

Goberdan Matloo

This is an extremely important issue. From the very beginning I was intrigued by the interview. The world of humans is falling apart with grief and lust for power. Man has strayed from the true walks of life. We have lingered from the right path.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment and your interest, Goberdan. What is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition is that it defends our so-called ‘dark side. That is why it is so powerful: it actually allows us all to reconcile the selfish madness of the world, and in ourselves, with ideality. And by explaining the very good and actually “right” reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts and walk the path we did, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, which is what makes it totally different to pseudo idealistic demands that we all just behave cooperatively (see our FAQ 6.5 on how this understanding differs from new age movements). We also recommend reading FAQ 1.40, which addresses ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Daniel Muriithi

Just finished this interview and it answers so many questions I had. So eye opening

Lynn Dougherty

I’m very thankful for this interview very insightful I thank God In The Name of Jesus for you being able to do this interview amen

WTM Admin

Thank you Lynn - as is intimated by how you have couched your enthusiasm for Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition in religious terminology, Jeremy’s explanation reconciles science and religion by bringing biological understanding to religious concepts. In fact what people discover is it is the fulfilment of a time that all the great prophets looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves (see our FAQs about religion).

Julian Arias

I loved the interview! Now I feel like I have to comment something as feedback for you. It’s interesting since you very well describe what I like to call the analytic nature of the human condition. Humans, as part of their unique biology have the capacity to think in both divergent and convergent manners. We can take ideas apart and analyse them and then resynthesis them into new ideas. We can also think in creative and asbtract ways, reason our own thinking processes in ways in which other species cannot, and also focus our attention intensely on a particular object. So what does this mean? It means we can attain ever higher levels of consciousness and knowledge which can lead us to ever greater paradim questioning of the human condition. Maybe at first our critical thinking abilities were just a mere pragmatism in regard to us being able to survive and thrive. But with the advent of the self conscious awareness in humans, we became prone to more existential enigmas. Who are we as humans? Are we good, are we bad? What is the meaning of life? Who am I in the society? Who am I really? What is the human condition? And then all these existential questions, left unanswered left this great void in our consciousness in which we were unable to be in tune with our inner self, our insticts, and the correct psicological sublimation of those instincts. And we carry, also as a culture, the resistance of not truly being ourselves and our consciousness capacity not being at the same level as our practical knowledge. In the end, it’s just the challenge we all have as humans of being truly human, and accepting the human condition as such, and also to ever expand our consciousness and knowledge in ways which are heroic. To be a whole integrated person with our thoughts, feelings, and actions, constructed through the biology of the marvel of the human brain, and not be prone to self duality. Really really intresting stuff and fuel for thought!

WTM Admin

Thank you for your consideration and taking the time to comment, Julian. Certainly the emergence of consciousness brought with it the ability to recognise existential questions, but it wasn’t simply that we couldn’t answer them that is the source of the human condition. The key insight that is presented by Jeremy Griffith is that when our conscious mind emerged it came into conflict with our pre-established instinctive self, which in effect criticised’ the conscious mind’s experiments in self-management. This ‘criticism’ caused us to become insecure and defensive; as a result we became psychologically upset, angry, egocentric and alienated. Now that biologist Jeremy Griffith has explained and defended human’s upset angry, egocentric and alienated condition the “great void” of “unanswered” questions can be answered. For instance you might find these FAQs of interest: FAQ 1.3 ‘What is the explanation of the human condition?’; FAQ 1.5 answers ‘Are we good or bad?’; FAQ 5.4 ‘What is consciousness?’; FAQ 5.5 ‘Why other animals aren’t capable of conscious thought like humans?’; FAQ 5.2 ‘What is the meaning of life?’, FAQ 1.26 ‘What is soul [our inner self]’ and FAQ 1.12 ‘What subjects are covered in Jeremy Griffith’s book FREEDOM?’

David

This is so interesting and confirms what I have always thought. That we humans are not inherently bad. However knowing this does not solve the worlds problems or our almost inevitable eventual destruction. While there is greed, territorial disputes and vast differences in nations and individuals finances, there will always be despots and dictators willing to risk the earth’s safety for their own gain. This is a very pessimistic view of the future but for all the knowledge of experts like yourself, correcting the old ideas of the human condition, how do we convince and change the world?

WTM Admin

As with any new scientific breakthrough in history it will take time to gain mainstream acceptance, and from there break through the bastions of power in the world. However, with support from those who appreciate this understanding, the truth is that this redeeming, uplifting and healing explanation of the human condition is SO liberating and SO exciting that it won’t be long be everyone realises that it is completely pointless to keep trying to compensate for their insecurity through the pursuit of power, fame, fortune and glory.     You might be especially interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. It explains that “Even those who were most committed to defensively seeking validation through gaining power and material goods, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level.”

EASILY CONVINCING

Clint

Absolutely amazing explanation, now that someone has outlined our behaviour its easy to see it and make changes. You must travel in not out.

Molly Taylor

Can’t wait to hear more!

Henry

I am glad that you are making this known. However Jeremy, you did not discover this, a number of Anthropologists have already made these findings over 100 years ago (I am led to believe) and today one of the best researchers is Anthropologist Brian Ferguson. So claiming this as your own is not positive to me and displays a competitive tendency that belies the claim of wanting to help Humanity.

WTM Admin

Hi Henry, we suggest you re-watch THE Interview as Jeremy Griffith makes it clear that while some other thinkers have recognised we aren’t driven by savage instincts, they didn’t take their thinking far enough to actually explain the human condition. Anthropologist R. Brian Ferguson is one of these scientists who recognises a cooperative past, writing “warfare, despite its malignant hold on modern life, has not always been part of the human condition”, but he accounts for our aggressive, competitive war-like state as being driven by domestic politics, which is a superficial argument. Jeremy Griffith goes deeper and confronts and resolves the human condition itself. He explains we have completely loving and selfless instincts, and that our competitive aggression is the result of a psychosis, resulting from a clash between our emerging conscious mind and those pre-established instincts.     In getting to the heart of our psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated human condition and solving it, all the symptoms of our condition are also ameliorated. We can now see that war is a symptom of this psychosis, as is politics, which emerged to manage its effects, and by bringing peace to the core issue of the human condition, they will become a thing of the past, and humanity will be able to legitimately return to a loving cooperative existence.     And so while the work of scientists like Brian Ferguson in identifying a peaceful, cooperative past was certainly brave, ultimately we needed to answer the essential question of why, when the ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? It is this question of questions that Jeremy has solved with his explanation. That is the great breakthrough his work represents, see FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new?’

An insight worthy of investigation even if just understanding is just the beginning it seems to be necessary to open our conscience beyond what we have been told is normal or why we are the way we are.

Thank you for your thoughts Niels. It can take time to see just how this new science solves the human condition so you might like to re-watch Part 4 of THE Interview titled ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’. Also our brief FAQ 1.5 answers the question of how does understanding transform the world.

Great service

WTM Admin

Well you have struck gold Arturo! With the human condition solved, topics such as consciousness that have previously been impenetrable because of our fear of our psychologically corrupted state now become relatively easy to understand. In Part 3 of THE Interview Jeremy Griffith explains how we became fully conscious which developed as a result of nurturing or what he terms the love-indoctrination process. He refers the viewer to chapter 7 of his definitive book FREEDOM which provides a comprehensive explanation — a summary of which is in FAQ 5.4 titled ‘What is consciousness? / Why is it that humans became conscious while other animals haven’t? / How did consciousness emerge in humans?’

Such a great mind

Snjezana

Utopia was discovered many years ago...lovely points of how we could/should be but the reality of how complicated the human mind is is something else mainly that human mind will always depend on the circumstances that happen to us thorough out our life and there is no way of knowing what our perception of life or decision made will happen mainly because of our feelings...human mind is very complicated and it depends on many factors which MAY or MAY not happen

WTM Admin

Hi Snjezana, Jeremy Griffith’s work is not an idealistic plea for utopia or for everyone to just behave cooperatively, it is a biological defence of realism. THE Interview explains why imposing artificial or pseudo idealism does not work and further explains pseudo-idealism in its current forms now actually threatens humanity because it “stifled and oppressed the search for the understanding of our corrupted condition that was needed to actually free us from that state”. And it is that understanding of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition that Jeremy presents. Until we had this solution reality did appear very complicated and we couldn’t see what was driving our mind but now we can. We can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. How this healing is immediately open to us all is summarised in FAQ 1.5.

Excellent talk. Love to learn, more and more, through his talks

WTM Admin

It’s wonderful you want to learn more Devi! Our homepage presents 'The Main Videos' or talks to watch. After THE Interview we recommend you watch The Great Guilt discussion because in it Jeremy Griffith gives an astonishingly interesting and important description of The Great Burden Of Guilt that has finally been lifted from the human race, and the ‘Deaf Effect’ its lifting typically causes us to initially experience. From there we then recommend our series of 16 Main Videos that elaborate on what The Interivew outlines—so there’ll be some repetition, but going over the concepts in more detail does help with the understanding and absorption of them. Great! Wonderful!

Salvador Joao

Nothing new here, it all has been said and explained on another book called the Bible. The human condition is and always will be the depraved condition of the human heart, what God calls Sin.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Salvador. We certainly respect people’s religious views and feel it is important to mention for readers of these comments that Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. Although this is science, it is based on a Godly nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained in as being the integrative meaning of life. (Our FAQs about religion include FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’ and FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion/God’.) The difference being that we can now with the benefit of science, bring clarifying, first-principle biological explanation to our so-called ‘good and evil’-afflicted human condition or “the depraved condition of the human heart” and why we had to depart from our original innocence, whilst religion had to rely on metaphor and a more literal interpretation.

Anna

I was glad that you are attacking this problem. Twas glad to hear your references to the Bible. Have you looked for answers in it? I think it offers answers—especially in the New Testament. Study it and see what you think.

All I can say is...“Aaahhhhhhhh”!

Marlena

This is the awakening process being stimulated through collaboration. Responding to the fight of the ego with compassion is igniting a deeper understanding of the self bringing healing.

WTM Admin

Hi Marlena, thank you for your feedback. What our “awakening” depends on is the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are humans so egocentric, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith provides. So at last we can “respond to the fight of the ego with compassion” as you say because we can defend our conscious mind for becoming so upset (angry, egocentric and alienated from our loving instinctive self). That is the great paradox of the human condition – we humans had to defy our instincts and become corrupted in self in order to find understanding of the human condition. Now with that found we can at last reconcile and yes “bring healing” to our split selves and return to a selfless way of living. We thought you would enjoy our FAQ 1.5 ‘Why is this important to my life’.

Makes me humble,as much as a down to earth human being.

What a liberating message! Finally I see that everybody is his/her own messiah, his/her own redeemer. Finally I understand why forgiveness is such a central theme in all religions. We are all innocent. Finally I can come home in myself!

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Jan. As is explained in Part 2 of THE Interview it is science that is the liberator or saviour of mankind. Craig Conway summarises that, “science’s discovery of the way genes and nerves work has finally made it possible for the liberation of humanity from the horror of the human condition”, to which Jeremy Griffith replies, “Yes, that is the essential truth: science is the liberator, the so-called ‘messiah’ or ‘redeemer’ of humankind, as we always hoped it would be!” So we agree everybody can use this scientific explanation of their fundamental goodness to free themselves from the burden of the human condition, it couldn’t be a more liberating message!

Jackie Rosenberg

Very interesting talk - such a long way to go when most movies - the “best movies”that influence the human psyche are violent greedy depraved and evil. Education and environment are so necessary to the love and nurturing state of the human condition. The wild primates are not exposed to any of that bullshit ( as you call it) - the conscious human can’t get enough of it !!! But the concept is amazing if the human psyche can stop “loving the bullshit”

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Jackie. It is true that humans are desperate from distraction from the human condition, and increasingly violent movies mirror how increasingly psychologically upset we have become as a species. But while, as with any new scientific breakthrough in history, it may take time for people to realise this is the universal solution we have all sought to all the problems we face, once it catches on—through people recognising the importance of it — the infectious enthusiasm and selfless love it liberates will spread like wildfire, and people won’t be the least bit interested in anything except the human condition free world, and this is starting to happen! You can see this growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres popping up all over the world here on our homepage. Also see FAQs 1.4–1.6 for more on the speed in which this healing knowledge can turn humanity in the right direction and transform it.

Sounds fantastic. Can’t wait to read it

Rose A Leonhardt

I don’t understand what is meant by “The Human Condition”. Can it be interpreted in a simplified form? Is it telling us that what we choose in Life is okay and without judgement?

WTM Admin

Hi Rose, what THE Interview is explaining is that essentially we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are humans so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith provides. The clash between instinct and intellect is the source of all our insecurity and subsequent anger, egocentricity and alienation, and so explaining it makes all those defensive behaviours redundant. We suggest you read the very brief summary in FAQ 1.3. Also watching the video series that follows THE Interview is great as that series elaborates on what’s been presented — so there’ll be some repetition, but going over the concepts in more detail does help with the understanding and absorption of them. The Great Guilt presentation is particularly recommended because it explains our historic fear of the subject of the human condition and the resulting ‘deaf effect’ that often initially causes. So it can take a little time and perseverance to get your head around this explanation but it’s well worth it!

Very empowering thoughts on the human condition. I really love thinking out of the religious box.

WTM Admin

While religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM.
