    Thank you for your feedback, Sally. Jeremy Griffith’s work actually explains the nature versus nurture debate. As he talks about in THE Interview we are born with loving instincts and the ‘savage instincts’ explanation was just a convenient excuse while we searched for the psychosis-addressing-and-solving real explanation of our divisive behaviour. As Jeremy explains in chapter 8:16C of FREEDOM, “the whole so-called ‘nature vs. nurture’ debate has really been about wanting to, indeed needing to, attribute the formation of our character to the influence of ‘nature’, our genetic make-up, rather than to the confronting truth of the role nurturing (or the lack thereof) played; it has been a sophisticated deflection from the fact that our psychoses and neuroses and their many physical manifestations are not about our genes, but the hurt to our all-loving instinctive self or soul during infancy and childhood.”     What heals the world is not learning skills to “overcome” challenges, or adopting “coping or adaptive techniques” to better manage the upset in the world, but the honesty that is now available — real therapy comes through understanding. We can talk to children about the unavoidable journey of the human condition and how corrupted we’ve become, and that honesty is what will heal their troubled minds. We have had to live in denial of the human condition, hide in Plato’s dark cave where no exposing light could reach us. But now that we have redeeming understanding that denial is no longer necessary and there are many unbearably confronting truths, such as our inability to nurture, that can be safely confronted now, leading to the repair of the whole human race.

    Hi Esther, we’re not sure how old your son is, but the psychological process adolescents go through and which Jeremy Griffith terms ‘Resignation’ is the most significant psychological event in human life (for readers of these comments see Freedom Essay 30 titled ‘Resignation’). So it represents a horrifically difficult and lonely time for virtually every person, as it’s when we face and wrestle deeply with the issue of not only the imperfection of the non-ideal human-condition-stricken world around us, but also of the imperfection of our own behaviour — that we too suffer from anger, selfishness, meanness and indifference to others. But having no prior understanding of the human condition, and thus no answer to this confronting self-realisation, meant that the more we each grappled with the issue, the more depressing our thinking became until we realised that we had no choice but to ‘resign’ to living in denial of it. As Jeremy explains in Part 2 of this interview, “we’ve had to live in denial of our corrupted, psychologically upset condition while we couldn’t explain it”, which required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here.     You might also be interested in reading FAQs 1.4 to 1.6 as they explain the far-reaching practical, physical applications of this understanding and Freedom Essay 15 ‘How our lives can be immediately transformed’.     Patricia, your comment is a wonderful testament to the relief that knowing the tension within and around us can now end. As Jeremy Griffith explains in Part 4 of THE Interview, “What this instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition fundamentally does is lift the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race. It establishes that we humans are good and not bad after all.” While we are all inevitably variously psychologically upset from humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, ultimately self-knowledge, we can now know that every human is fundamentally good. The only way we could legitimately return to our original cooperative and loving state was to be able to answer the essential question of why, when the ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy’s treatise does and why it is heralded as being able to save the world. Our Transformation page is full of information, videos and counsel about just how relieving, reconciling and healing this understanding is, so that is a must visit!     We might also say that, as mentioned in our response to Robert below, Jeremy’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God, but brings biological understanding to all the extremely rare denial-free truth, albeit presented in pre-scientific form, that is contained in scripture. As is explained in FAQ 6.2, it is recognises, like all the great religions (and indeed, all our great mythologies) do, that our species did once live in a ‘Golden Age’, a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained in as being the integrative meaning of life.

Yes Sue, as THE Interview explains, despite our competitive and selfish behaviour we have always intuitively believed we were fundamentally good, but we have never been able to explain this contradictory, troubled nature. We are now able to explain it from first principle biology, and that knowledge is the great scientific breakthrough Jeremy Griffith’s work presents. We suggest that with the redeeming defence of our species’ psychologically upset condition, it is now possible to admit that humanity began as innocent but as the human journey has progressed we have become ever more psychologically corrupt, to the point that we are now approaching a state of terminal alienation rather than an “energetic force of unity”. In FAQ 1.33, Jeremy explains that “Basically we would talk about all manner of positive achievements without ever mentioning the negative of how horrendously corrupted and horrendously practising of denial of that truth and thus how horrendously alienated/psychotic/split from our true all-loving and all-sensitive instinctive self or soul we actually were. There was this massive metaphorical elephant in the room, our extremely alienated condition, that no one was confronting or admitting”. Further, as Jeremy explains in THE Interview, “While we have learnt to significantly restrain and conceal – ‘civilise’ as we refer to it – the phenomenal amount of upset within us, under the surface we all must be boiling with rage, and sometimes, when our restraint can no longer find a way to contain it, that anger must express itself – hence our capacity for shocking acts of cruelty, sadism, hate, murder and war.” It is only the reconciling, redeeming explanation of the human condition that can prevent the human race from reaching terminal levels of upset.

Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or Christianity, or the Bible’s content. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact, Jeremy considers the Bible to be a repository of extremely rare denial-free truth, containing all the truth about human life albeit from a pre-science view. Although this is science, it is based on a ‘Godly’ nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained in as being the integrative meaning of life (see FAQ 6.2). We’d like to suggest that Jeremy Griffith’s biological ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition at last reconciles the polarities of life including both sides of politics. It allows us to at last understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wing. His work certainly doesn’t excuse the right-wing for its corrupting behaviour, nor unfairly focus on the failing of the left, which is that its insistence on ideal behaviour had the effect of oppressing the search for knowledge, but rather brings a profound understanding to both sides which ultimately will bring an end to the whole ugly business of politics. Hi Noel my name is Gary, I’m 39 and from Liverpool in the UK. I have have for the last few months had this on the back burner, believing there is something in this for me. I have only watched brief moments of a handful of these videos whilst on this page a couple of weeks ago. I’m not sure what political part you are refering to as I watched the video weeks ago now, just pondering again. But I know politics play’s a role in everybody’s lives no matter which country we come from. Or weather you choose left, right, or as many people can quite rightly choose to not feel to be forced any choice, when it comes to politics and remain in middle. Yours and all our lives on this planet will never be untouched from politics. If this is a tranformation or movement {or what not}. Then political or even what can be seen as a political view, will most definitley need to be handled or given enough respect to actully take some of your or our time, as it’s very likely it has had imapct on our lives at some point.

The human condition is the study of humans’ capacity for so-called ‘good and evil’ and is the realm of inquiry where science and religion overlap, so in explaining the human condition religion is demystified and explained. Of course this presents a massive paradigm shift in our thinking which certainly can be met by fierce resistance but we suggest the more people absorb this understanding the more they will realise Jeremy Griffith’s work doesn’t contradict a belief in God or religion. It simply brings biological understanding to all those pre-scientific concepts. In fact what people discover is it is the fulfilment of a time that all religions looked forward to when we could actually explain ourselves, see FAQ 6.3 ‘Aren’t all Griffith’s demystifications of religious teachings going to be seen by supporters of religion as blasphemy? / Does understanding of the human condition undermine a faith in religion or God? / How does this affect my personal religious practice? / How can you reconcile the explanation of the human condition that defends the upset state with religious teachings that condemn upset?’

We maintain that the truth about the human condition can only be found by understanding the unavoidable conflict of our duality, the clash between our instinct and intellect, see FAQ 1.3. With regard to reincarnation, we should stress that Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is completely rational and accountable, and in explaining the human condition it allows us to demystify all manner of ‘mystical’ concepts that we have had to employ while we couldn’t explain or even admit our corrupted condition. For example, in chapter 8:11C of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, he explains that, “It is only the extremely alienated disconnection from our all-sensitive and all-loving soul in humans of more recent times that has left us needing to believe in a physical ‘afterlife’—needing to construct pyramids as a vehicle to supposedly carry us on to another life after we died, or needing to hold onto a belief in reincarnation, etc, etc. But it is love, and our love of love, that is what is truly universal and eternal/everlasting/immortal.”

Yes, the human condition has caused so much pain and trauma that the relief we get from having it compassionately understood is almost unimaginable. If readers haven’t seen it already, they may find psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen’s response to the question ‘How does understanding the human race’s condition help with an individual’s depression and psychosis?’ helpful — see FAQ 1.34 — and also FAQ 1.35 on ‘Does this heal anxiety?’ What is explained in those FAQs is that what is so significant about Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition is that we no longer have to be burdened by the fundamental question of whether we are good or bad because our core goodness as individuals and as a species has been biologically established. We can understand humans’ psychological upset was the price humans had to pay for searching for knowledge and that the human story presents the greatest, most heroic story ever told. We can at last understand the source of our upset and bring great compassion and kindness to ourselves and others and, most significantly, we don’t have to overly confront the upset within us — see FAQ 1.19 ‘A caution about the danger of over-exposure / Advice for people with mental health issues’.

For anyone reading on, we would just stress that your use of the term ‘New Age’ is completely different to the New Age movement, which is based on transcending the human condition. Ultimately, humanity had to answer the crux question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith has answered with his ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world (see FAQ 6.5 which explains the critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the New Age Movement).     And we suggest that we adults will see this great (legitimate) New Age start to come into being. As with any new scientific breakthrough in history it will take time to gain mainstream acceptance, but basically so exciting and relieving is this breakthrough, and the freedom from the human condition that is now on offer, that everyone will want it, and so it will catch on like wildfire and this is already happening. Thanks for your question Colleen. Throughout his writing, Jeremy Griffith explains that religion is a repository of profound truth about our condition. In Freedom Essay 39 he explains that the Cain and Abel story is a metaphor for the fundamental truth that humanity has progressed from a state of innocence to a state of upset, and how, following the advent of agriculture, that progression eventually led to warfare.

It does take some time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, and in particular, how it applies to politics. We recommend Jeremy’s latest book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage, and which includes an analysis of Marxist thought. In it Jeremy emphasises that while it is easy to identify with the ideal of everyone being cooperative and loving, the whole objective of the human journey was to find understanding of why humans have not been cooperative and loving and instead so divisively competitive and aggressive. That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained. Now at last we can understand why we humans have been competitive, aggressive and selfish, and, most wonderfully of all, by revealing that reason, the need for that divisive behaviour is ended. Which brings us to the final paradox of the human condition (which is not a “mixed message”, it is just logic): through the right wing upholding the selfishness needed to persevere with the search for knowledge, we all now become left-wing (as it were, although the truth is that the whole ugly business of politics is now brought to a close).

    Thank you Anne for your comment and question. Firstly, you are right to be optimistic. What is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s biological treatise is that it logically and accountably defends human selfishness and egocentricity. And it is only with that defence of our ‘dark side’, through finding the good reason that we had to defy our instincts, that we can reconcile ourselves with our instincts and behave intuitively, because all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant. We no longer need them because we have the real defence for why we had to defy our instincts. No other approach could bring about a fundamental change in our situation because no other approach dealt with the fundamental issue of the source of our destructive behaviour. And a change will come as a result; as Jeremy explains in chapter 9.9 of his book FREEDOM: “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will, as has been stated, have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire.’” And so even though we haven’t yet reached the tipping point in terms of awareness of this great breakthrough, you can see from the excitement and relief in our ecstatic responses to THE Interview, we are well on our way!     With regard to “non-dualistic spirituality”, in FAQ 6.2 Jeremy explains the source of our duality or separation from Integrative Meaning or what we have called ‘God’: “the theme or purpose or meaning of existence is the ordering or integration of matter, a process that is driven by the physical law of Negative Entropy. There is, however, an immense problem admitting this truth of integrative meaning, and that is it unbearably confronts us with our divisive, seemingly disintegrative selfish, competitive and aggressive human condition. The fact is that for a larger whole to form and hold together (integrate) the parts of that whole must consider the welfare of the whole above their own welfare. Simply stated, selflessness is integrative while selfishness is divisive or disintegrative. But this implies that we selfish and competitive humans have been living in defiance of ‘Integrative Meaning’, living in a way that is out of step with creation! In fact, Integrative Meaning has been such a terrifyingly condemning truth that we divisively behaved humans couldn’t face it. And so, to avoid facing it, we deified the process of Integrative Meaning as ‘God’, thus making it something separate and superior to us, not connected to us in an earthly, practical way. So, ‘God’ is the personification of Integrative Meaning, a personification that was necessary while we selfish and competitive humans couldn’t explain why we were seemingly at odds with ‘God’! IT IS ONLY NOW that we have the redeeming explanation of humans’ divisively behaved human condition, that we can at last afford to demystify ‘God’ as Integrative Meaning. With regard to ‘sovereignty’, it is true that we can now understand that the driving force in all human behaviour has been to find knowledge or understanding of our psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated human condition, and so that is what is behind all the various ways that we humans have constructed our societies. From democracy to monarchy to communism – we can now understand all of the ways that we humans invented to live together and how they variously expressed or controlled our psychologically upset state.
