This is a great revelation

moleka nakeri

Perfect and excellent. Lessons like this should be made available at the basic elementary school level to permit people to have a perfect mastery of the human situation by the time they become adults . By so doing many other issues will be resolved naturally without spending much money. Thanks so so much

Daniela Chapman

I want to understand. Do you believe in god?

WTM Admin

Although this is science, it is based on a ‘Godly’ nature in the sense of recognising, like all the great religions do, that we humans once lived in a pre-human-condition-afflicted state of original innocence where we were perfectly instinctively orientated to the cooperative, selfless, loving, ‘Godly’ ideals of life; ‘God’ being explained as being the personification of integrative meaning of life; see Freedom Essay 23. We also think you might find our FAQs about religion of interest, especially FAQs ‘What is God’ and ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’.

Karabo Modikwane

There really is a condition worth living after all. Thank you, Jeremy.

Perla C. Erickson

Thank you helping me understand that we have control of our behavior.

Merete Kemi Wear

Brilliant, Thank you thank you thank you. This absolutely blows my mind and it reflects my insides and it just needs to get out there, Science is great when its allowed to think outside the small box alot of other things than Science has made us believe for such a long time. We are one, we are suppose to ALWAYS help and love each other, I think that even money can climb down from its high horse if me manage to wake people up. The answer is LOVE, no matter what the question is.

Dr Rook Doolub

Living in the full consciousness of who we truly are . There is much more to us than a skin bag of flesh .

WTM Admin

Now Jeremy Griffith has actually solved the human condition and explained the human journey and all the suffering it entailed we can feel excited by the meaningfulness on offer based on liberating and truthful understanding of ourselves and our world!!

Elise Parish

This is interesting? I would love 2 hear what others thought

Angus Fraser

Arrangements must be made for Jeremy to address the UN and the EU who are desperately searching for solutions to problems Jeremy has already masterfully solved. I dont know about King Charles as he seems somewhat withdrawn , but I am sure his mother the very savvy Queen, would have entertained very seriously even recommendations of knighthood.

Mary oneill

This 100% wonderful. Grateful for it I will read the book. Mary

Tony Dukes

Humans went crazy when they became conscious. This is about Europeans madness. Other peoples aligned with nature. They were called primitive and savages. This is deep... The world is in danger from the sickness of humans.

WTM Admin

THE Interview presents biologist Jeremy Griffith’s treatise that explains all humans variously suffer from the human condition—a universal psychosis, or “crazy madness” caused by a clash between our instinct and intellect. So, at last we can explain that the more innocent or sheltered ‘races’ (ethnic groups) have not been as exposed to humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge as less sheltered races, and so they aren’t as psychologically upset as those less sheltered races. And yes, more sheltered races have more affinity with our instinctive soulful, cooperative way of living and nature. However, all humans are now part of the extremely upset stage of humanity, H. sapiens sapiens, and are therefore nowhere near as innocent as humans were some 2 million years ago when the battle of the human condition first emerged. Also, most significantly, despite the differing levels of upset due to everyone’s different encounters with humanity’s heroic battle to find knowledge, we are all equally good. You might like to read our FAQs about racism and how this puts an end to it, and for a testimonial on the power of this knowledge to end racism, we recommend the presentations from Franklin Mukakanga and Refentse Molosiwa in Video/Freedom Essay 8. We agree this “sickness” caused by the human condition is at dangerous levels but now the the source of our selfish psychological upset is solved we can turn this situation around and achieve real and lasting change and stop the destruction of our world that is happening everywhere we look—see FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’.

Judd Biggs

Convince all the politicians to change and I will believe you. Otherwise, start with children...all of them?

WTM Admin

Hi Judd, as with any new scientific breakthrough in history it will take time to gain mainstream acceptance, and from there break through the bastions of power in the world. However, with support from those who appreciate this understanding, the truth is that this redeeming, uplifting and healing explanation of the human condition is SO liberating and SO exciting that it won’t be long be everyone realises that it is completely pointless to keep trying to compensate for their insecurity through the pursuit of power and glory. You might be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. It explains that “Even those who were most committed to defensively seeking validation through gaining power and material goods, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level.”     Also being able to understand the human condition, we can now see that everyone has suffered from it, and all our institutions, including governments, have been a manifestation of our insecure, psychologically upset condition. Only solving the human condition can stop the disintegration of society and the destruction of our world that is happening everywhere we look, see FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does this understanding solve everything?’.     In terms of your suggestion we start with children our FAQ 1.27 ‘Why not focus on reaching children and adolescents to gain a foothold of appreciation for this information?’ explains the breakout of truth about the human condition has to begin with adults.

Val Wallace

Love is light, light is love. This is the light we need in these times of such darkness.

WTM Admin

Yes Val at last we can bring biological understanding or ‘light’ to what love is which is unconditional selflessness. However this is a truth we couldn’t safely admit until we could explain the human condition—explain or shine ‘light’ on why our human behaviour has often been so ‘dark’ or unloving?! Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents here. You may also find our reply to Charles Collins below interesting to read which links to Jeremy’s essay titled ‘What is Love’ from his book The Book Of Real Answers To Everything!

shane wood

We all know what is right and wrong it has always been within us it still is it’s that voice within you. We either choose to listen to it and do the right thing or not listen and do what we want to regardless of the consequences to us and other’s some people have stopped listening to it all together and give into what humidity has become. The want and need to be better than the rest because that is what society and the media tells us is what we need to do to be better than the rest. The responsibility to choose right from wrong falls on each and every individual to choose what they know inside is right for themselves and the world around them . We all have the ability to know what is right. We just need to start listening to that voice with in us again. Just stop trying to get ahead of the the rest and learn to live together instead of the ever separating life’s we are living.

WTM Admin

Thanks Shane. We suggest that there is a deeper question that needed to answered. Why, when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless, are we so angry, competitive and selfish? Certainly we can attempt to navigate our way through our psychological landscape by making the best choices we can, but the deeper question is why are we psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated in the first place? We can now understand that this state was actually the result of the emergence of “free will”; when the conscious mind emerged, our pre-established instincts criticised its experiments in self-management, causing us to become psychologically upset. Also you might find our reply to Charles Collins directly below helpful in terms of explaining that our “voice within” is our moral instinctive self or conscience and how we humans biologically acquired it.

Charles Collins

This is good information for everyone to hear, and understand. We have the ability to use our Universal Subconscious Mind, some say is God within each of us, or Infinite Intelligence, or Source, or Buddha, or whatever one could call it, and use our human conscious mind to further our enlightenment. To have the enlightenment that there is a sense of LOVE which is the natural basis within each of us!!!

WTM Admin

Great to have your participation Charles. Yes our inner awareness has been called many things but at last we have the biology to explain it. As Jeremy Griffith says in this interview “we humans have cooperative, selfless and loving moral instincts, the voice or expression of which we call our conscience”. How we biologically developed our moral conscience or soul is one of the great outstanding scientific questions that Jeremy has solved and what is so brilliant about his ability as a biologist. To quote Part 3 “...how we acquired our moral instincts has been one of the greatest mysteries in biology. The primatologist Richard Wrangham described it as ‘A question that has lain unsolved at the core of biology ever since Darwin’ (review of E.O. Wilson’s 2019 book Genesis: The Deep Origin of Societies). And Darwin himself described it as the ‘one special difficulty’ with his concept of natural selection (On The Origin of Species, 1859, p.209 of 440). The reason for the ‘difficulty’—and this is some basic biology for you—is that genes normally can’t select for unconditionally selfless, fully cooperative traits, simply because such traits tend to be self-eliminating and so normally can’t become established in a species ... So the question is, how could such a selfish process as natural selection have created loving selflessness in us?” Part 3 goes on to answer this question which is summarised in FAQ 6.2 ‘How did we acquire our moral soul’. We also suggest FAQ 1.26 titled ‘What is soul, have we all got one, has it been repressed, and if so, how do we rehabilitate it?’ and FAQ 5.3 ‘What is the Integrative Meaning of existence? / What is God?’ which explains ‘God’ is the personification of the Negative-Entropy-driven integrative meaning of existence and therefore the meaning of love is to be integrative and unconditionally selfless (see Jeremy’s essay ‘What is love’ from his book The Book Of Real Answers To Everything!).

Wow blew my mind expanded my empathy for others and self NEW LIGHT!!! THANK YOU...KEEP IT MOVIN AND KEEP PULLIN UP BRO!

Jeffrey

I am one of the few. I got it!

WTM Admin

Awesome Jeffrey. The more people that understand what an extrordinary breakthrough this is, and help to spread the word, the quicker we can start healing the world. Historically the human condition, the question of our ultimate worth, has been a terrifying subject, and so even though Jeremy Griffith has now been safely explained it with the instinct vs intellect explanation, discussion of it can initially be difficult for some people to ‘take it in’ or ‘hear it’. However, once it catches on—through people recognising the importance of it — which is what is happening – the infectious enthusiasm and selfless love it liberates will spread like wildfire, and people won’t be the least bit interested in anything except the human condition free world, and this is starting to happen! You can see this growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres popping up all over the world.

Yogendra Kumar yadav

Wonderful very very interesting interview

Corne

Mindblowing

Melissa Garner

You had me until you started claiming that the Left philosophy is wrong and harmful. Talk to the right.

WTM Admin

In his book FREEDOM, Jeremy explains the twin political problems we have are the brutality of the right-wing’s need to continue the corrupting search for knowledge free from too much condemning idealism, and the left-wing’s dishonest and deluded dogmatic imposition of pseudo-idealistic politically correct values. However, as THE Interview explains, freedom of thought and individualism, sustained by the incentives of materialism and capitalism which right-wing constitutions uphold, are what maintained humanity’s heroic search for knowledge, ultimately for self-knowledge. And so paradoxically it was the right-wing that actually held the moral high ground and the left-wing that posed the real threat to humanity due to the fact that its dogmatically imposed pseudo-idealism gravely endangers freedom of thought and the search for understanding. Now the core mystery and problem about human behaviour of our so-called ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition has at last been solved we can understand the real merits and liabilities of both the left and right wings of politics and bring the whole necessary but ugly business of politics to an end (see our FAQs about politics).

Finally, an easy explanation of the hardest & toughest of questions. I may not go mad after all!!!

Define instincts

WTM Admin

Firstly, as is explained in THE Interview, once our self-adjusting intellect emerged it was capable of taking over the management of our lives from the instinctive orientations we had acquired through the natural selection of genetic traits that adapted us to our environment. Moreover, at the point of becoming conscious the nerve-based learning system should wrest management of the individual from the instincts because such a self-managing or self-adjusting system is infinitely more efficient at adapting to change than the gene-based system, which can only adapt to change very slowly over many generations of natural selection. HOWEVER, it was at this juncture, when our conscious intellect challenged our instincts for control, that a terrible battle broke out between our instincts and intellect, the effect of which was the extremely competitive, selfish and aggressive state that we call the ‘human condition’.     A full definition of what instincts are is provided in our FAQ 1.41: “Firstly, to explain what instincts are. While animals largely depend on their nervous system to coordinate their movement and control how they react to their environment, other systems such as their hormonal, circulatory, digestive, immune and reproductive systems also influence how they behave. Obviously all these systems that affect how a species of animal moves and behaves have been acted on by natural selection in the course of adapting that species over many generations to its environment. It is these naturally selected genetic traits that orientate an animal’s movements and behaviour that are referred to as its instincts. Animals move about and behave in many different ways—they fight and court each other, they build nests, they search for food, they migrate, etc—and natural selection has given them genetic programming, ‘instincts’, to control and orientate all this movement and behaviour. Plants could be said to have instincts for the control and orientation of their behaviour, but because they don’t move about and have such constantly changing behaviour as animals, instincts for the control of movement and behaviour are more associated with animals than plants.”

BEYOND GRATEFUL TO HAVE FOUND YOU

Dawn May

I’m rewinding my understanding of mankind, going back to earlier, simple stories explaining our behaviour as a species. This professor is a biologist, not a philosopher and illustrates his theories with ancient texts. So you get a 360 degree view, as you listen to fascinating illustrations of how we got to where we are.

Koony Kange

Very fascinating and would like to know more about this very profound discovery in the history of mankind. That’s the answer for the humanity. How could I obtain one of the copies of the book Freedom. thanks.

WTM Admin

You can immediately access a copy at the top of our homepage just under THE Interview! You will see an image of FREEDOM with the text ‘Free Copy’ so click on that to access your free electronic copy to read, listen to or download. You can also download free Kindle versions from Amazon. If you are particularly after a hardcopy of Jeremy Griffith’s books they are available to purchase from Amazon and other good bookstores.

Steven Seawood

Very understandable on why our world is like it is.

Chris Purdy

No mention of pedophilia, psychopaths or narcissists. I know they are a small percentage of the human race, but they cause so much of the distrust and paranoia.

WTM Admin

We suggest that the more you digest Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more you will realise how accountable it is in getting to the source of all humanity’s psychological upset, which in the extreme, produces people who are capable of the aberrant behaviour you mention, what we have traditionally described as ‘evil’. Of course this breakthrough explanation doesn’t condone or sanction the horrendous atrocities humans can commit rather, through bringing compassionate understanding to the source of humans’ upset behaviour, it gives us the power to ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate it, see FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’. As the late Professor Harry Prosen, psychiatrist and former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, said: ‘I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.’

Tobias Yambe

So much to learn from and am inspired to rethink my life.

Jeffrey Geyer

Well presented information relating to the core of the human condition with great clarity.

Adebayo Afolabi

This is very astonishing, and highly inspiring, and it shows that there’s a better tomorrow if we can all go back to the basics

Tammy Tritton

Wow! This is amazing and makes so much sense!

Kenneth Gadd

Very informative and enlightening. It explains a lot of what I have considering for many years, and there is a lot to inwardly digest

Richard C Curry

Sounds interesting. However the use of the explanations to do a frontal assault on the Left seems unwise. Why not just allow everyone to come out and away from their deeply entrenched, dogmatic, ego-invested “positions” and start progressing on a new basis of understanding? Inciting and invoking Left vs Right passions seems like a side-tracking “red herring” distraction that just invites people off to an unnecessary circus sideshow battle. I am not saying I disagree, but it seems an unfortunate emphasis that invites irrelevant resistance. If what Jeremy says is true, then shouldn’t we be able to shed Left vs Right animosity like old, irrelevant, worn out costumes?

WTM Admin

Hi Richard. It does take some time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, and in particular, how it applies to politics. We recommend Jeremy Griffith’s book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available. In it Jeremy emphasises that while it is easy to identify with the ideal of everyone being cooperative and loving, the whole objective of the human journey was to find understanding of why humans have not been cooperative and loving and instead so divisively competitive and aggressive. That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained. Now at last we can understand why we humans have been competitive, aggressive and selfish, and, most wonderfully of all, by revealing that reason, the need for that divisive behaviour is ended. Which brings us to the final paradox of the human condition: through the right wing upholding the selfishness needed to persevere with the search for knowledge, we all now become left-wing (as it were, although the truth is that the whole ugly business of politics is now brought to a close). We also recommend our FAQs on politics.

Joel Colbeck

Interesting, ( AND Promising!)

Jonnie-Lynn Smith

Somehow I know this is the best explanation to understanding as for all hate and lack of care for each other. It’s very deep. How will we use this information - humanity is almost null and void.

WTM Admin

Yes Jonnie-Lyn, what is presented is the first-principle biological explanation of our ‘good and evil’ stricken human condition that answers the age-old question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless we are so angry, competitive and selfish.     With regard to your question about whether it is too late, you may be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. It explains that “Even those who were most committed to defensively seeking validation through gaining power and material goods, including those entrenched in positions of power, will quickly realise how empty and obsolete that strategy is now that we have the fully accountable, psychosis-addressing-and-solving, real biological explanation of the human condition that proves our worth at the most fundamental level.”

Peter Vinyu

Good thoughts

Jacklyne

Astonishing

Michael Dakoru

I am excited

William Evans

Awesome and I appreciate your positive outlook. However I hope Im wrong but for humans to accept and put this into practice universally in just a few generations after being the norm for thousands maybe millions of years would be miraculous. But being old fashioned I still believe in miracles. Its good to be aware and thus part of this awakening of humanity. Thank you for sharing this discovery and your wonderful insights.

WTM Admin

Don’t despair William. While this necessarily has a slow start, humanity’s uptake of the explanation of the human condition has a fast finish as the selflessness it liberates in people will not only quickly solve all the problems on the planet, including teaching other people about this redeeming information, but the excitement and joy it brings means everyone will want to get on board as quickly as they can (see FAQ 1.5)! As Jeremy Griffith explains in his book FREEDOM chapter 9:9: “Although this new world for humans, which the World Transformation Movement has been established to facilitate, will, as has been stated, have a slow beginning because humans initially find it difficult even taking in or ‘hearing’ discussion about the human condition, once the WTM is discovered, word of it and what it offers every human and the world will spread like wildfire.’”

Lionel Owen

It seems to me that Mr Griffith has little idea of spiritual teachings outside those of Christianity. What he is doing is pointing out the blind alleys down which science has taken humanity for generations. Life is a great deal more than the physical and mental capacities which materialistic science or the new discoveries he is claiming will transform human understanding, is capable of explaining. He is doing great service by highlighting scientific arrogance and error but otherwise he is merely perpetuating scientific orthodoxy in a different way.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your consideration Lionel. We suggest that the more you digest this explanation, the more you will see that even though it is rational and accountable, it actually enhances the ‘spiritual’ dimension of life through making it understandable. While “spiritual teachings outside of Christianity” contained extraordinary truth about human life, it was all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. As Jeremy Griffith has written in one of his earlier books (A Species In Denial), “The demystification of our world doesn’t mean the specialness of our world is removed, rather it means the specialness is made more tangible. Mechanistic science, like all forms of denial, has largely been a process of stripping the beauty and truth from the world whereas the denial-free explanation of the world restores all that beauty and truth. It allows humans to live with a full awareness of, and ability to savour, the beauty of integration. It is alienation that is devoid of spirituality, not the truth.” You may also be interested in reading FAQ 6.7 which includes the answer to ‘How can a scientific explanation ever hope to account for and encompass the great ‘spiritual’ dimension we know exists in life? / Isn’t ‘spirituality’ beyond a purely rational explanation??’.

Wow! This is an amazing interview and not easy to wholly assimilate on the first listen. I definitely need to go over it again. I only hope the world doesn’t have to fight it. Thank you Jeremy G.

NOELA Ann Bingham

I came across this interview several years ago and welcomed its understanding and heart opening information. Then it just disppreared but not the underlying truth. It is brilliant to find it again. Thank you.

Really enjoyed the philosophy and insight presented here. This is important to pursue and to incorporate into all science and psychology moving forward.

WTM Admin

Thanks very much James. You might enjoy some of the Commendations and Reviews showing how Jeremy’s breakthrough biological insight is already starting to be apppreciated by scientists and thinkers across different disciplines.

Gary

Wrong.

Sohail

Insightful and informative

jay

i agree somewhat to this info. however there are explanations that i had to place question marks on. when viwed from a buddhist perspective.

WTM Admin

Hi Jay, given this presents an entirely new way of thinking about ourselves and the world it does take a little time to reconcile it with your existing thinking so we encourage you to pursue your interest. Finding the answer to the human condition ultimately depended on being able to explain our biology. While Buddhism and other religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents in THE Interview. Also, there has been thousands of years of different techniques for calming, restraining, repressing, and even transcending our psychologically upset human condition and deferring to the soundness of our soul in one form or another, like in Buddhism, but none of them have brought an end to the upset state of the human condition—it’s still rampant everywhere. The reason is because they don’t solve the human condition. They don’t deal with the source of our species’ corrupted condition and bring relieving understanding to it. This is what Jeremy’s treatise does and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world. As you further investigate this explanation you may find our extensive FAQ facility helpful. For instance you can explore our FAQs about religion and also FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new? / How does biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation of the human condition differ from other theories that recognise these elements?’.

Thanks for your help 👍

Freddie Keith Human

You make mention of the ‘Truine brain’ , more explanation on our still reptilian brain and how it helps in our thinking? Thank you, great insightful read, 2 mya is a long way off, Many Thanks, Cheers

Michael Clark

Can’t wait to learn more.

WTM Admin

It’s wonderful to have your interest Freddie. As mentioned in THE Interivew various thinkers have identified a clash between an ancient instinctive part of our brain and the more recently developed intellectual part as being critical to understanding the human condition. However, as explained in FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea new’, what was missing from the analysis of all these other thinkers was the ability to explain WHY this conflict occurred—which is that while gene-based naturally selected instincts give species orientations to the world, only the nerve-based conscious intellect can understand cause and effect and thus manage change; so when the fully conscious mind emerged and began managing change from a basis of understanding (some 2 million years ago) the instincts were in effect intolerant of such experiments, putting them at odds with the intellect. This understanding of WHY the conflict between our instincts and intellect occurred that Jeremy presents is all-important because it is only this clarifying, redeeming and reconciling explanation of the nature of the struggle between our instinctive self and conscious self that at last brings peace to our divided selves, and transforms the human race. As Professor Harry Prosen, a former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, has said: "I have no doubt this biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race." Jeremy discusses these various thinkers (both ancient and contemporary) further in a number of his other presentations and in Freedom Essay 4 he includes an analysis of Paul MacLean’s triune brain theory so that will be most interesting for you to read. We also suggest Freedom Essay 53 (which is a longer, more complete version of F. Essay 4) and also Freedom Webinar 2.

Phineas Sithole

Wow powerful information

Leighton Naraine

Philosophically inspiring.

Diane Stallings

I really enjoyed the interview with Jeremy Griffith. I’m so relieved to know that all of us are capable of going back to a species that are loving and compassionate to all.

Bruce

Explain narcissistic behavior then... Your theory that humans are good is fundamentally flawed... Ying and yang ☯️ Wake up fool

WTM Admin

We disagree Bruce as Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition does fully account for narcissistic behaviour, and not only that, it heals it. As is explained in THE Interview, key to Jeremy’s explanation is that to fulfil the great potential of our conscious mind we had to defy our cooperative moral instincts. This defiance or battle resulted in humans’ psychologically upset state and, in the extreme, that upset produces very dysfunctional behaviour, including narcissism. What is so utterly exonerating and psychologically healing about our ability to now understand this is that we can finally appreciate that there was a very good reason—indeed heroic reason—for our upset; and this applies to all humans, even those with extreme expressions of it. Importantly, as FAQ 1.38 ‘Aren’t some people just born psychopathic, or even ‘evil’? / How does this explanation rehabilitate people capable of ‘evil’ behaviour? / Does this condone ‘evil’ behaviour?’ explains, this doesn’t condone such behaviour, rather, through the power of compassionately understanding its source it subsides and ultimately disappears. Jeremy explains more about this destructive, excessively egocentric narcissistic or power addicted behaviour in his definitive book FREEDOM chapter 8:16D, see especially par. 1003. And he further elaborates on this need for power and domination in Freedom Essay 62 where he gives a presentation overviewing the entire human journey and explaining how this understanding makes possible the real therapy and rehabilitation of the human race. Also FAQ 1.40 ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’ explains how everyone, even those most committed to a life of pursuing power, fame, fortune and glory can be transformed and includes a power addict speaking about his experience of this transformation. As the highly respected psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen, a former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, wrote: “the beauty of Griffith’s treatise is that the healing starts at the macro level of the universal human condition; the healing of the shame and blame that the whole human race has suffered from… It brings the greater context and love to all human psychosis and suffering, and then, from under the umbrella of that safe position, everyone can gradually work inwards to their particular experience of all the imperfections in human life that have now, finally, been made sense of” — see FAQ 1.34 about how Jeremy’s work helps our psychosis.

This is true

Christine Craven

I am not the smartest person in the world so I am.curious of what is going on

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Christine. The fundamental explanation is very simple and not beyond the most basic of educations. Part 1 of this interview presents the explanation as quickly and simply as possible and FAQ 1.3 presents a very brief summary of the key ‘instinct vs intellect’ concept. Essentially, when we humans developed a conscious mind some 2 million years ago, a battle unavoidably developed between it and our already established instincts. The result of this conflict between our instinct and intellect was that we became psychologically defensive, angry, alienated and egocentric — the upset state we refer to as the human condition. But now that we can explain and understand this conflict, all those insecure, defensive behaviours are obsoleted, brought to an end, and we free ourselves from the human condition.     It is unclear if you have watched THE Interview but it is worth mentioning the very nature of the human condition means explanation of it can be initially difficult to access as it has been the most terrifying of subjects to face because it is the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad as a species, and we have necessarily lived in almost total denial of it. We do recommend Jeremy’s presentation The Great Guilt that causes the Deaf Effect, which allows us to understand, and therefore overcome, this ‘Deaf Effect’ to being able to ‘hear’ and access the solution to the human condition. The phenomenon is also summarised in FAQ 1.16.

Seadrick

Wouldn’t they have a conscience already if they chose to eat from the tree they was told not to

WTM Admin

Hi Seadrick, as biologist Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview the human condition was caused when our already established conscience clashed with our emerging intellect so yes we already had developed a conscience. Jeremy presents the essential ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation is in Part 1 using the Adam Stork analogy where Adam diverts from his instinctive flight path in his first experiment of self-management, to qutoe: “...we humans have cooperative, selfless and loving moral instincts, the voice or expression of which we call our conscience... the easiest way to see what happened is to imagine the predicament faced by an animal whose life had always been controlled by its instincts suddenly developing a conscious mind, because if we do that we will very quickly see how that animal would develop a psychologically troubled competitive and aggressive condition like we suffer from.” Also Jeremy explains how humans acquired selfless instincts in Part 3 of THE Interview. These FAQs may help with your consideration Seadrick: FAQ 1.3 presents a very brief summary of the key ‘instinct vs intellect’ concept; FAQ 5.2 answers ‘How did we humans acquire our all-loving, unconditionally selfless moral conscience?’ and FAQ 5.4 answers ‘How did consciousness emerge in humans?’

WTM Admin

Yes Lovenda we must save the human race and with Australian biologist Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough resolution of the underlying problem in all human affairs of the human condition we can!! This critical new science ends human conflict and suffering at its source, and provides the now urgently needed road map for the complete transformation of our lives and world! Barry

An opinion of this man nothing else. No proof Just an opinion

WTM Admin

Hi Barry, firstly it is worth mentioning, as is explained at the beginning of THE Interview, this is a summary presentation of biologist Jeremy Griffith’s definitive book FREEDOM and does provide references throughout to FREEDOM and other material where further arugment and evidence is presented. In terms of your criticism we recommend our FAQ 1.10 which outlines ‘What scientific evidence is there for this explanation’. Also, it needs to be emphasised that the subject of the human condition that Jeremy Griffith’s treatise addresses is the most important but also the most difficult and thus contentious of all subjects for humans to address because it deals with the ultimate confronting issue of ‘self’. When the renowned Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson wrote, ‘There is no grail more elusive or precious in the life of the mind than the key to understanding the human condition’ (The Social Conquest of Earth, 2012, p.1), he was making this point that while ‘understanding the human condition’ is the most ‘precious’ ‘grail’ of science, it is also the most ‘elusive’ ‘grail’ because the subject is the most difficult of all subjects for humans to engage with. However, despite this, Jeremy’s work has received commendations from extremely eminent scientists and thinkers, that can be viewed on our Reviews & Commendations page.

New beginnings in ascencional consciousness always a surprise to those who realize all old paradigms are dead and worthless for meeting all known challenges!

WTM Admin

We certainly agree that the “old paradigms are dead and worthless for meeting all known challenges!” However, for anyone reading on, we would just stress that what is presented here is completely different to the New Age movement, which is based on transcending the human condition. Ultimately, humanity had to confront and answer the crux question of why when the universal ideals are to be loving and selfless, are we so competitive and selfish? This is what Jeremy Griffith has answered with his ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world (see FAQ 6.5 which explains the critical difference between Jeremy’s work and the New Age Movement).

Thelma E McMahon

It’s incredible belief, but it all makes sense. I wish you could’ve gone slower so that we could obtain the depth of it. I definitely will be looking for a books and things and I gotta let you know I’m 91 years old and it’s amazing with what we’ve gone through and how it makes sense thank you, and God bless America

WTM Admin

Thank you very much Thelma. It is certainly a lot to take in. Because it has historically been such an off-limits subject we can find it particularly difficult, and so we actually recommend that people watch THE Interview a few times. But you are doing brilliantly and we are very excited that you have found Jeremy’s work.

Thank you for what you doing for the world. Freedom always wins

WTM Admin

Thanks for your support Sam. While it is true that ‘freedom’ is the most important aspect of human life because without we were never going to have the freedom of thought required to find the breakthrough understanding of the human condition, however we cannot assume that now that it has been found, it will automatically “win”. John Stuart Mill, in his seminal 1859 essay On Liberty was in effect emphasising just how important it was for everyone to support this breakthrough, when he wrote, “the dictum that truth always triumphs over persecution is one of those pleasant falsehoods which men repeat after one another till they pass into commonplaces, but which all experience refutes. History teems with instances of truth put down by persecution.”

Worth your time, attention and serious consideration.

Ken Edwards

How will this be fulfilled?

WTM Admin

Hi Ken, solving the human condition solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at its source. We can now understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness, so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. This is the rapidly transforming effect of being able to understand the human condition, however, because it presents a huge paradigm shift in our thinking it does take a little time to fully grasp. FAQs 1.4 to 1.6, and our Transformation page, are helpful as they talk about the far-reaching practical applications of this understanding. And joining our Facebook Group is also highly recommended because there is so much helpful, practical and inspired discussion taking place there about this immensely relieving knowledge!

Kim

Excellent insight. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the video. This effectively brings another interesting perspective about the human condition.

Dirk van der Laan

Thank you, Jeremy for your interview and writings on the ‘human condition’. In your interview you state: “But when Adam’s instincts realise he has strayed off course they are going to criticise his deprogrammed behaviour and dogmatically try to pull him back on his instinctive flight path, aren’t they! In effect, they are going to condemn him as being bad.” You seem to suggest that condemnation is part of our instincts. But isn’t condemnation part of our judging mind? And isn’t this judging mind detrimental to our survival and THE reason why our species may end up destroying this world and ourselves? You say that we are inherently ‘cooperative and loving’ beings, and I agree. But if we keep following our condemning minds which sees itself as detached from everyone and everything, we will remain’angry, egocentric and alienated' and in the process destroy ourselves, each other, and the whole natural world.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Dirk. The key to how the instincts react to deviations from their naturally selected orientations lies in the words “In effect” – the instincts aren’t literally ‘condemning’ the intellect for its disobediance, but when the intellect creates behaviour that is not in line with our instincts, the instincts will naturally exert a ‘pull’ or ‘influence’ to try to bring that behaviour ‘back on course’ as it were. The intellect, unable to explain why it was deviating from the instinctive orientations, then interpreted the ‘resistance’ from the instincts as “condemnation” of its experiments in self-management. And you have to remember that this hostile interplay between instinct and intellect would have slowly emerged over millions of years. It would have been very mild originally, but over time it would have gained intensity.     Ultimately, the answer wasn’t to stop “following” our minds or stop “judging”, because we had to fulfil the mind’s potential to manage life. No, what was ultimately required to bring about a reconciliation between our “angry, egocentric, and alienated” mind and our loving instincts was the explanation for why our intellect had to defy our instincts. Which is what Jeremy has provided. Now that we know the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation are made redundant, which means we are finally in a position to transform the world. In Part 4 of THE Interview, Jeremy explains how the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible, actually occurs.

Dirk

Thank you for you reply. I still think Jeremy’s theory is not how it went, but I like the fact that he does away with the idea that we are the villains of the world. What seems to me one of the problems is the idea that this angry, egocentric predecessor of us has managed to remain on top of the world for millions of years in spite of the fact he is so hostile to everyone including himself, dominating, abusing and destroying his fellow man, nature and the whole globe. How come we ended up in the survival of the weakest ;-)? Really strong leaders like Mandela and Gandhi is what we need, but for some reason the Hitlers, Stalins and Pol Pots pop up time from time as we see in the present day. Maybe seeing ourselves as heroes in the development of the world will help preventing this in the future.

WTM Admin

All we would say is that the central tenet of Jeremy’s work is that humans have a cooperative, loving instinctive heritage, not a brutish, savage and aggressive one, and that the source of our aggression is a psychosis that has been compounding ever since the instinct and intellect clashed some 2 million years ago. It follows then that the further back in history we go, the less psychologically upset a race of people will be, and so the more cooperative, loving and in touch with the natural world they will be – and we can see evidence of this in existing ‘tribal’ people, such as in indigenous cultures, as you have identified (however, it needs to pointed out that even so-called ‘primitive’ races are still members of the extremely upset stage of humanity, H. sapiens sapiens, so they are still psychologically upset angry egocentric and alienated).     However, to ultimately return to a loving, cooperative state, we needed to find the scientific explanation for why we left that cooperative state. Why, when the ideals are to be loving and cooperative, we are so selfish, competitive and destructive? Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his definitive book, FREEDOM.

This is so powerful for the human race

Edem Andah

Instinct vs conscious mind/ intellect divide and conflict may not fully explain the evil / good , angry, ego centric, selfish ,corrupt existence of humans and nature of the world. It perhaps ignores or may not recognise the full import of the supreme being, divine, God of creation factor, who loves and desires to have a relational fellowship with humans and his creation to transform us and make us reflect his image and likeness that we are created. It is the image and likeness of God that we are created in that makes us conscious with intellect and ability to rationalize and create, and have the conscious ability to distinguish and differentiate between evil and good , the utopia versus the reality of the human condition. The Holy Scripture states that God uses the simple things to confound the wise. I am not sure that science is the final liberator. The divine God Spirit factor, in-dwelling in man as his sons and daughters, joint heirs with His only begotten, Jesus Christ is the transforming factor and gives us the ability to engage in the arts and sciences etc of life. He teaches and commands us to love God,and love one another. I look forward to reading Professor Jeremy Griffiths book on the freedom of the human condition. Indeed, we cannot afford to live in denial of the human condition.

WTM Admin

Thanks very much for your thoughts Edem. We are certainly respectful of everyone’s beliefs, but do suggest that while religions contained extraordinary truth about human life, it was all from a pre-scientific view, and that ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that clarifying difference means we can now understand that we had to defy our instincts, which is why this great breakthrough is described as ‘redeeming’. It follows that by finding the good reason we had to defy our instincts, we can reconcile ourselves with them, because all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant. We no longer need them because we have the real defense for why we had to defy our instincts. We recommend reading FAQ 6.3 ‘Does this undermine religion?’ where it is explained that, “The great founding prophets of religion actually looked forward to the arrival of the reconciling understanding of the human condition—which means supporters of religion shouldn’t see Jeremy’s scientific demystification of religious teachings as blasphemy, but as religious fulfillment!”
