You are so right George, it is the most wonderful news! And it is incredible reading about bonobos, and how they evidence the nurturing based love-indoctrination process. You might be interested in chapter 5 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, where you can read much more about them, as well as the hominin fossil record, which shows how similar our distant ancestors were to bonobos.

What is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s treatise is that it logically and accountably defends human selfishness and egocentricity. It is that defence of our ‘dark side’, through finding the good reason that we had to defy our instincts, that means all our defensive behaviours (our anger, egocentricity and alienation) are now redundant. We no longer need them because we have the real defense for why we had to defy our instincts. Certainly it will take some generations for all our hurt and trauma to subside, but people can immediately choose to behave in line with a set of principles any time they want – they do it all the time in religions (although the ‘change of heart’ this information allows is based rational scientific knowledge, not faith). This is the essence of the transformation that is now available. To fully heal the human race will take generations, but everyone can immediately choose to live in accord with that understanding, which is what is so immensely exciting – see FAQ 4.1 to read all about the Transformed State.

Yes, with our psychologically upset now defended, it is now safe to admit that mankind’s beginnings were peaceful and loving – see Part 3 of THE Interview; and in Part 4, it is explained how, with the human condition now solved, all humans will be able to return to that non-upset ideal state we’ve longed for, but we will return to it with understanding, in a fully conscious way.

It also needs to be understood that there have been thousands of years of different techniques for calming, restraining, repressing, and even ‘transcending our ego’ or transcending our psychologically upset human condition, which is what Wilber’s work is, but none of them have brought an end to the upset state of the human condition—it’s still rampant everywhere. The reason is because they don’t solve the human condition. They don’t deal with the source of our species’ corrupted condition and bring relieving understanding to it. This is what Jeremy Griffith’s treatise does and why it is heralded as the biological breakthrough that can save the world. It does take some time to digest just what a paradigm shift being able to understand the human condition represents. As is explained in chapter 3.9 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, we can now see that the philosophy of the left was void of meaning in the sense that while siding with idealism made its practitioners ‘feel good’, it ultimately had no relevance in humanity’s critical journey from ignorance to enlightenment; and we can also see that the right-wing’s need to support the upsetting, often brutal, competition-aggression-and-selfishness-producing battle to defy the ignorance of our ideal-behaviour-demanding, unjustly condemning, moral instinctive self or soul and find understanding of ourselves, can also come to an end with the acceptance of this liberating insight. Basically, finding understanding of the human condition brings to an end the insecure, upset, artificial-reinforcement-dependent angry, egocentric and alienated world. A new human-condition-resolved, cooperative, selfless and loving world now emerges, and considered through this new paradigm, the need for politics goes (see our FAQs about politics).

Explanation of our human condition opens up an entirely new way of thinking about humans, which is exciting because at last we can define and make sense of the ‘puzzle’ of life, as you say. And part of that is being able to bring biological understanding to religious accounts of our condition, which means we can at last truly understand religion and reconcile it with science. And yes, with science now providing the understandings needed to explain the human condition, namely the way that nerves and genes work, we can now see that science is, as explained in THE Interview, “the liberator, the so-called ‘messiah’ or ‘redeemer’ of humankind, as we always hoped it would be!” We recommend reading our FAQs about the reconciliation of science and religion here on our website.

We think it important to note that in THE Interview Jeremy Griffith acknowledges the ‘savage instincts’ excuse for our selfish and competitive behaviour, but explains that without the real, psychosis-confronting explanation for our behaviour, we needed some excuse for our behaviour, and that the idea that we were driven by ‘survival instincts’ was just that, a brilliant excuse. However, he explains and evidences how the nurturing-based, love-indoctrination process led to our ancestors becoming unconditionally selfless, which is the source of unconditionally selfless instincts within us. This is evidenced through the fossil record and comparisons between these distant ancestors and bonobos, which you can read much more about in chapter 5 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM.     With regards to your contention that things are getting better (even though “awful, atrocious”), we suggest that with the redeeming defence of our psychologically upset condition, it is now possible to admit that we began as innocent but are becoming ever more psychologically corrupt, and that things are actually deteriorating at an alarming rate. In FAQ 1.33, Jeremy explains that, “Basically we would talk about all manner of positive achievements without ever mentioning the negative of how horrendously corrupted and horrendously practising of denial of that truth and thus how horrendously alienated/psychotic/split from our true all-loving and all-sensitive instinctive self or soul we actually were. There was this massive metaphorical elephant in the room, our extremely alienated condition, that no one was confronting or admitting.”     Finally, what is presented is anything but feel-good, positive-thinking, wish-for-utopia, new age thinking. This is the ultimate defence of reality, not a condemnation of it. If our instincts are cooperative and loving (which, again, is evidenced), and our selfish and destructive behaviour is the result of a psychosis, then understanding the source of that psychosis ultimately heals it. Ultimately it was only through bringing understanding to our ‘dark side’ that we could heal it.

The explanation of the human condition can be initially difficult to access as it has been the most terrifying of subjects to face because it is the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad as a species, and we have necessarily lived in almost total denial of it. We suggest looking at Video/Freedom Essay 1 titled ‘Your block to the most wonderful of all gifts’ where Jeremy Griffith explains this initial ‘deaf effect’ and how to overcome it, which is also summarised in FAQ 1.16.

It takes time to absorb, but what is so extraordinary about the explanation of the human condition is that it is ultimately compassionate. It explains why we have had to be angry, egocentric and alienated. Basically, until we found the explanation of the human condition humanity had to live in denial of the whole issue and so while our old way of thinking, which was to just pursue self-affirmation, was terribly flawed, it turns out it was necessary. Of course, with understanding now here, that all changes.

What is explained in THE Interview and Jeremy Griffith’s other works, is that those that dominate the world are not doing so because of competitive and aggressive instincts, but because they like everyone else, are driven by our psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated human condition. Jeremy Griffith’s use of the ‘Adam Stork’ analogy is to help people visualise his explanation of the human condition, key to which is an understanding of the difference between our instincts and intellect, and the effect that difference has had on our behaviour.     The great unlocking point has been explaining our psychologically upset human condition. What we can now see is that there was a good reason that science was dismissing the existence of soul, which is that it was so confronting of our present soul-destroyed state, and it is only with the redeeming, rehabilitating and reconciling explanation of why we repressed our soul that it is safe for science to admit that we have loving moral instincts that we refer to as ‘soul’ (see FAQ 5.2), and wider than that, we can now admit that Negative Entropy, or Integrative Meaning, is responsible for the development of life (see FAQ 5.3).     With regard to other animals being selfless, while it is true that they display various levels of socialness, they are driven by gene-based natural selection and the essential fact or rule of natural selection is that genes are unavoidably selfish, so there is a fundamental limit to the amount of selfless, loving behaviour they can develop.
