This is fantastic information! I will be referring this to lots of humans!! Thank you so much!

Mark Sullivan

Wow!!!

Marco Pombo

Yep...there is mindfulness and there is ignorance. Humans tend to live/act anywhere along a spectrum between these two poles, at any given time....

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Marco. The explanation THE Interview offers is that at last we can understand the heroic human journey to find knowledge and the price humans had to pay to undertake that quest. This search from ignorance to enlightenment caused us to become psychologically upset (egocentric, angry and alienated). FAQ 1.3 presents a summary of the breakthrough this represents, to quote “In short, this explanation represents the fulfilment of the human race’s great hope, faith and trust that one day this psychologically redeeming and transforming understanding of our ‘good and evil’-stricken human condition would be found.” At last we can become ‘mindful’ in the truest sense because our minds can be filled with the knowledge of the great objective and meaning of human existence that finally ends human suffering which you can read all about in Jeremy Griffith’s latest book Our Meaning.

Trevor Ballantyne

Amazingly eye opening thank you

Russel Brewty

Our savage behaviour is written in our history, the British should know that they perfected it and created an empire from their sense of superiority. Most of the countries they enslaved, welcomed them, some because they thought they needed help others because they thought they were gods and even sprits of their ancestors. Human greed is the architect of capitalism and modern economics, just as racism, bullying and slavery is the product of territorial behaviour. The human need to control and enslave is displayed in their need for pets, so they could have at least one creature they could unconditionally dominate.

WTM Admin

It’s very true that there has been a huge amount of suffering on the planet due to the human condition which is why solving it is so important. What biologist Jeremy Griffith explains in this interview is that our savage competitive and territorial behaviour is not driven by our genes as it is in the animal kingdom but rather it is the result of our upset psychology. In Part 3 especially Jeremy evidences this key biological distinction that humans suffer from the conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled human condition, not the genetic-opportunism-based, animal condition. And, most significantly, as Part 4 explains, a psychosis can be healed with understanding, so our psychologically upset human nature is fixable or changeable—not unchangeable.     We suggest that the more people digest this ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation, the more they discover it is not just accountable in getting to the source of all human greed and prejudice, but because it is a compassionate understanding, even the most angry and power hungry will see that they are being defended, not criticised, and so will embrace the understanding, which is why it will ameliorate and thus subside and ultimately eliminate upset everywhere. Our FAQ 1.40 addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. Also FAQ 9.1 is about how this puts an end to racism, and for a testimonial on the power of this knowledge to end racism, we recommend the presentations from Franklin Mukakanga from Zambia and Refentse Molosiwa from South Africa in Video/Freedom Essay 8.

Gary

Absolutely phenomenal! I am 64 years old and have never ever in my lifetime. Heard anything as exhilarating and uplifting as this interview I’m amazed, and I’m praying that everyone on the planet Earth gets the privilege and honor of hearing this information. Thank you for sharing.

Kim

Very interesting, lots of valid points. Still have questions.

WTM Admin

Yes it takes some time to fully consider this explanation and what is so exciting is, with the core mystery and problem about human behaviour explained, one discovers an avalanche of answers finally become accessible! To help people explore the accountability of this explanation we provide an extensive FAQ facility here on our website. You might also enjoy an earlier book by Jeremy Griffith titled The Book Of Real Answers To Everything! which answers questions like: What is love? – What is soul? – What is conscience? – What is consciousness? What is good vs evil? – Is there a God? – Why do people lie? – Why do we Fall in Love?

Emil Wilms

Has his theory been tested ?

WTM Admin

Thank you for your question Emil which is answered in our comprehensive FAQ 1.10 which includes answers for ‘Does this treatise present new data and is it testable / What historical evidence is there for the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation? / How does science confirm the ‘instinct vs intellect’ explanation? / Does the treatise have ‘explanatory power’?/ Is this a ‘non-falsifiable’, circular argument?’. Also you can read the commendations Jeremy Griffith’s work has received from extremely eminent scientists and thinkers on our homepage here.

It was truly a phenomenal interview, I will be sharing this with everyone who will be willing to listen. Such a great point of view and very informative. I suspected a lot of this and it’s nice experience confirmation on things such as the origin of conscious thought and how it shaped our journey all the way to the present, to where I am typing this comment. Thank you to all involved and keep spreading this. With love and light, peace to all

Stephen Reynolds

A most enlightening and logical explanation of out predicament today, implimenting this understanding now becomes the real challenge. Best hours research I have listened to for a long time.

WTM Admin

It’s wonderful to have your feedback and interest Stephen. Yes the fundamental explanation is logical, and therefore simple to follow, but it does open up the off-limits subject of the human condition which presents the unavoidable challenge of overcoming our historic fear of the subject. However, what people discover is, the logic is all-powerful and does disarm our understandable fear, scepticism and habituation to living without understanding our fundamental worth and meaning. To quote Video/Freedom Essay 5: “Really, the transformation of the world is already a fait accompli, a certainty—sure, it will take a little time to get started, but what will win the day is logic. Humans are thinking, rational beings so when all the logic points in one direction then there is really no choice but for every single human to take that path, and eventually they will. It will be slow for a start because humans hate and resist change, but nonetheless change does happen when an idea’s time has come”. And the transformation is on! Just read the ecstatic responses THE Interview is receiving on our homepage and scroll down to see the rapidly growing appreciation and support for the WTM with outstanding commendations from thought leaders and WTM Centres opening all over the world! And, our website’s Transformation page further explains, what is presented in Part 4 of THE Interview, about how this understanding rehabilitates the human race and includes many affirmations from people about how it has transformed their lives and their families lives.     We also highly recommend Jeremy Griffith’s newest book titled Our Meaning which describes how being able to know and fulfil the great objective and meaning of human existence finally ends human suffering. It is freely available, along with all Jeremy’s key books, on our homepage HERE!

Morris Nyenator

Having listened to the interview, I’m truly impressed. It has clarified my doubt.

Bill Yates

An incredibly thought provoking presentation. If this can be promulgated (or preached) around the world it will certainly get people reexamining the reality of life in the 21st Century. Jeremy said change might take generations but later commented on an immediate change. My query would be how can we even begin to initiate the necessary transformation? For example, how do we ‘undo’ the regimes in North Korea, Russia, China; the racism that exists in places like the Deep South in the USA, in Saudi Arabia, etc.? How do we get the ‘wealthy West’ to give up or, even, limit their privileged access to material goods, food and water so the poorer nations can improve their standard of living? As I said, it was incredibly thought-provoking.

WTM Admin

Hi Bill, thank you so much for your interest and question. Yes this is incredibly thought provoking so there is much to process but Part 4 of THE Interview ‘How does the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible actually occur?’ does address your question. As you say, it explains that it will take a number of generations for the upset within us to be completely healed but it also stresses, importantly, we can be immediately free of its effects. So how does that work? Certainly there is habituation to overcome and humans do find change difficult but at last we can understand our behaviour has been driven by a deep insecurity about our fundamental goodness or worth and so now that our goodness is biologically established we no longer have to behave insecurely and selfishly and can legitimately return to a selfless way of living. ‘Legitimately’ because we have the first principle science which liberates us to be honest about our conflicted upset state instead of denying or transcending it. So instead of focussing on ways to relieve that insecurity, like oppressing or having power over others or seeking fortune and fame, all our energies will be freed to truly work together on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering and save our world. This is further dealt with in FAQ 1.40 which addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’. Also how this healing is immediately open to us all is summarised in FAQ 1.5. We hope you find these FAQs helpful and if you would like to explore our extensive FAQ facility you can find it here on our website. For instance our FAQs about religion explain this knowledge demystifies religion by bringing biological understanding to religion’s pre-scientific concepts thereby ending the need for faith and belief or the need to preach to others.

Amum Machar

Thank for sharing this interview. I love it, and I am going to keep listening over and over. However, more importantly I would like to order the book.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your feedback Amum. Explanation of the human condition is endlessly fascinating but it does introduce an entirely new framework of knowledge, a massive paradigm shift in how we view humans, so re-listening to THE Interview is most helpful and something we recommend. Jeremy Griffith’s books can be ordered from good bookstores or online from Amazon or other online bookstores. However all his books, including his definitive book FREEDOM, THE Interview and his other key books, are immediately and freely available to download or read online HERE on our homepage. Eastern spiritually has covered this from the spiritual teachings of the Buddha through vipassana meditation

WTM Admin

No it doesn’t. While Buddhism and other religions contain all manner of truths about human life, it is all from a pre-scientific view. Ultimately we needed to find the scientific explanation for why when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless are we so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy Griffith’s work.     And while practices such as meditation have certainly been invaluable tools in helping us cope with the upset human condition, calm the troubled mind and access our soul, they ultimately fail to produce a lasting solution to the destruction and devastation we see all around us. Fundamentally they are about transcending, escaping, the pain in our brains, rather than confronting and solving it, and thereby its destructive effects, at its source, which is what Jeremy Griffith’s treatise does.

This sounds a lot like Christianity with no Jesus. We might read the Bible as ‘In the beginning, ‘nothing’ created the world. I don’t have the answers to life’s origins and I struggle with God as much as with Evolution but life is happier and more stable now as a failing Christian and hypocrite than it ever was before I chose to become a Christian. Now that I have heard your interview, I an just as much, still in the dark regarding evolution but I will close here with a thank you for your interview.

All this was set out and explained over thirty years ago, by American Personal Growth Teacher, Ken Keyes Jr, a student of Alfred Korzybski and laid out into a system of study and reflection in his publications, most notably, ‘a Handbook to Higher Consciousness’. It’s interesting to see someone from the field of Biology catch up with the work of this relatively unknown Genius.

WTM Admin

While it takes some time to digest, we suggest that what is unique about Jeremy Griffith’s work is that he has answered the essential question of why, when the universal ideals are to be integrative are we so disintegrative? Our endeavours in philosophy, psychology and biology have failed, until now, to provide a truthful, real, fully accountable, genuinely clarifying explanation. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy presents here. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this original or new?’ and Video/Freedom Essay 4 which expands further on other thinkers (both ancient and contemporary) who have recognised instinct and intellect elements involved in creating the human condition.

We were taught much of this The allegory of the Apple describes the moment we learned their was another way to live He acknowledges this

WTM Admin

Yes, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts. When the conscious mind emerged, we had to search for knowledge in order to learn how to use this wonderful tool for self, management, however, when we inevitably deviated from our naturally selected orientations, those instincts in effect criticised the conscious mind, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! Need to Read this book.

I love it

Mark Van Zandt

Must start with all of the politicians.

WTM Admin

Hi Mark, what is so extraordinary about Jeremy Griffith’s instinct vs intellect explanation of the human condition is that it explains the real reason for why humans’ competitive behaviour became an unavoidable, indeed necessary, part of human life; it defends our so-called ‘dark side’. That is why it is so powerful: it actually allows us all to reconcile the selfish madness of the world, and in ourselves, with ideality. And by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, which is what makes it totally different to pseudo idealistic demands that we all just behave cooperatively. See FAQ 1.40, which addresses the questions of ‘Aren’t the problems of the world too overwhelming to ever be fixed? / Isn’t it too late to save the world? / How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Sagi Gotteiner

I understand that selfishness is our problem but you have to be selfish if you cant get food selflessly. Food is just the beginning.

WTM Admin

Hi Sagi, what is explained in Part 3 of THE Interview is that over millions of years our ancestors developed completely loving and cooperative instincts. We can now understand that selfish responses to lack of food are not an instinctive reaction, but rather it is due to us having a conscious-mind-based, psychologically troubled condition that can be healed through understanding the biological origins of that troubled, guilt-stricken, conscious-mind-based state.

Marc Calder

This is the foundation of recovery! Only through empathy and understanding…….

Frederik Jansen

Hello, this talk changed my life. I feel connected and at peace with the universe.

Eris Solipsis

I can buy into the concept that with scientific knowledge Mr Griffith may have identified and explained the conflict between human instinct and human intellectual thought. That’s in the bag. Great……even a Eureka moment perhaps. How that is translated into converting every single human before the human race destroys everything (including itself) is another thing. Understanding the problem does solve the problem. The Bonobo apes have lived within a plentiful and insulated environment which cannot be replicated in the global human context overnight , if ever. It’s a shame it can’t…… but the concept of greed, and “if you can’t beat them join them” will inevitably prevail as the “go to” instinct of choice for enough humans to make Mr Griffiths’ notion nothing more than an interesting anecdote.

WTM Admin

What is being put forward in THE Interview is that all humans variously suffer from the human condition — a psychosis caused by a clash between our instinct and intellect, and significantly since a psychosis can be healed with understanding, human behaviour is not unchangeable or immutable – a revelation that transforms the human race, see FAQ 1.3. And psychoses can be healed with understanding, so that’s the importance of the psychosis-addressing-and-solving, explanation of the human condition presented in THE Interview — this ‘holy grail’ of all human conscious thought and enquiry brings a complete and permanent end to our insecurity-driven destructive behaviour, transforming all humans into secure and functional beings. Certainly, as Jeremy explains in Part 4 of THE Interview, it will take generations for the upset within us as a species to be completely healed but we can be immediately free of its effects (see FAQ 4.1). As the late Professor Harry Prosen, psychiatrist and former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, said: ‘I have no doubt Jeremy Griffith’s biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race. This is the book we have been waiting for, it is the book that saves the world’ (mentioned in Part 1 of THE Interview).     Also our FAQ 1.40 addresses the questions of ‘How can you hope to transform the world? — In particular, how are you going to change the behaviour of the rich and powerful? / How are you going to reach the bastions of power? / Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Wow

Jason R Ballard

This has Always been with us once we reach the age of choice. Most humans want to do what is right but are to selfish. As long as one human has what another wants, this “bad” behavior will exist. The answer to this is our hharmonies of the same frequencies as we evolve.

WTM Admin

Hi Jason, we suggest the more you digest this presentation, the more you realise that the human condition is behind all our choices and motivations; our anger and egocentricity and the associated drive for material wealth are symptoms of our insecure, human condition afflicted state. It follows that if you address that underlying insecurity, then our greed (along with all our other artificial sources of reinforcement) will be removed. And that is what this understanding does – it addresses and solves that core insecurity about our self-worth. In fact, this redeeming, uplifting and healing explanation of the human condition is SO liberating and SO exciting that it won’t be long be everyone realises that it is completely pointless to keep trying to compensate for their insecurity through the pursuit of power, fortune and glory. You might be interested in FAQ 1.40, which addresses ‘Won’t the greedy and power-hungry simply ignore this?’

Human race is so diverse, though it lies within the simplicity of formation, yet from one race to the other, there exist a hierarchy of misunderstanding of one race to the other hence complexity’s.

WTM Admin

Certainly, depending on our exposure to the psychological upset already present in the world, the human condition will manifest in different ways, not only in each of us but in different races. However, as THE Interview explains, solving the human condition solves all the confusion, frustration and suffering in human life at their source. You might like to read our FAQ 9.1 about how this puts an end to prejudices between races, and for a testimonial on the power of this knowledge to end racism, we recommend the presentations from Franklin Mukakanga and Refentse Molosiwa in Video/Freedom Essay 8.

So unfortunate, that those who lead humanity nowadays have grown in the corrupted environment that those who came before them have, not only corrupted it further, but function on the purpose of perpetuating it further. Listening to this most substantial interview not only explains where humanity deviated from its most natural disposition to be caring, understanding, and in solidarity with all other humans, but it also explains with all coherent clarity the means by which humanity could rescue itself from self-destruction , and into a new age in which all will recognize themselves as sharing, striving, and acting in a manner that contributes to the evolution, stability, and and respect among all humans, everywhere.

Peter Cairis

Fascinating, informative and totally surprising, question is:how we reverse 2 million years of “ evolutionary conditioning in order to reverse the emotional and biological state in the human “ animal?

WTM Admin

Thank you very much for your comment, Peter. Certainly there is a lot here to digest, but the more you do, the more you will appreciate just how all-explanatory Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition actually is. With regard to reversing the “evolutionary conditioning”, key to Jeremy’s explanation is that our selfish and aggressive behaviour is not due to our biology or the existence as some have argued, ‘savage instincts’ within us, but is the result of a psychosis emerging from a clash between our instincts and intellect. And as Jeremy explains in Part 1 of THE Interview, “it is actually really good news that our behaviour is due to a conscious-mind-based psychologically troubled condition because psychoses can be healed with understanding. If our competitive and aggressive behaviour was due to us having savage instincts then we would be stuck with that born-with, hard-wired, innate behaviour.” What is difficult is breaking through the historic fear humans understandably have to discussion of the human condition and also the resistance humans have to change (see Video/Freedom Essay 1). So, as with any new scientific breakthrough in history, it will take time to implement this reversal universally but once this information gets a foothold, through enough people developing a deep appreciation and desire to support it, the selfless love and energy that will generate will solve our problems very quickly. As Part 4 of THE Interview explains, instead of being selfishly preoccupied with power, fame, fortune and glory, all our energies will be freed to truly work together and focus on doing whatever it takes to end the suffering in all the corners of the world. Part 4 also explains, even though it will take generations for the upset within us to be completely healed importantly we can be immediately free of its effects (also see FAQ 4.1 and FAQ 4.4 and our Transformation page).

The promise of Love and Compassion as taught by the 14th Dali Lama. Let’s make this WTM become the reality.

WTM Admin

Yes, ultimately, the only way humanity could bring to fruition “the promise of Love and Compassion” was by finding the scientific explanation for why, when the universal ideals are to be loving, cooperative and selfless, we are so angry, competitive and selfish. Answering this question required finding the clarifying difference between the way the intellect and instincts work, and that is the great biological breakthrough Jeremy Griffith presents in THE Interview and his book FREEDOM. By explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation are made redundant, which was the only way we were ever going to change our reality to one of love and compassion. We suggest FAQ 1.13 ‘Is this idea original or new? which explains the unique significance of Jeremy’s work.

Looking forward to getting the book

Lady Jane

I didn’t understand how the leftists were limiting freedom by insisting on the behavior that we want to move toward. I forgot who said that the practice of virtute develops virtue -- probably Socrates I guess. So when we address our communities with a mindset of mutual cooperation, well, I don’t feel that we have done one another a disservice. People who were on the receiving end of community assistance grow to be generous and thoughtful individuals.

WTM Admin

It does take some time to get your head around the paradox of the human condition, Lady Jane, and in particular, how it applies to politics. We recommend Jeremy Griffith’s book, Death by Dogma, which is freely available here on our homepage. In it Jeremy emphasises that while it is easy to identify with the ideal of everyone being cooperative and loving, the whole objective of the human journey was to find understanding of why humans have not been cooperative and loving and instead so divisively competitive and aggressive. That is the great riddle of the human condition that had to be explained. Now at last we can understand why we humans have been competitive, aggressive and selfish, and, most wonderfully of all, by revealing that reason, the need for that divisive behaviour is ended. Which brings us to the final paradox of the human condition: through the right wing upholding the selfishness needed to persevere with the search for knowledge, we all now become left-wing (as it were, although the truth is that the whole ugly business of politics is now brought to a close). We also recommend our FAQs on politics.

Kathy Stavrou

You’re only talking about men! Our competitive etc etc! What male centred crap. Every single thing you say is about maleness. Man and lower animals? You don’t say the word woman at all. “We”? We men.

WTM Admin

THE Interview is about both men and women. It explains the universal psychosis all humans suffer from caused by the clash between our instinct and intellect, which significantly can be healed through understanding. What is astonishing is that despite our psychologially upset condition this biological treatise estabishes all humans are equally good, worthwhile, meaningful and wonderful regardless of gender, age, religion, etc. See molecular biologist Dr Anna Fitzgerald’s video commendation about how this explanation is the real liberation of women.

As I SEE it one of the most important threats to humaniry is atmospheric pollution CO2 and also the pollution of the so called energy replacement hydrogen in particular react chimically with the atmosphere react with CO2 methane ozone etc …and itself contribute indirectly in athmophere warming . It seems there is no escaping to the degradation of our environment whatever we think of

WTM Admin

Jeremy Griffith’s work explains that issues such as climate change and environmental destruction are merely symptoms of a deeper problem and will not fundamentally change at all until we solve this dilemma of the human condition—our insecure, guilt-ridden, defensive capacity for ‘good’ and ‘evil’—and bring self-understanding to the human situation. This interview provides the ideal summary presentation to watch, and you might also find FAQ 1.6 ‘Why does understanding of the human condition solve everything?’ helpful.

Keren

Tell me please, why I, with a Percentieel of 98,(iq 150) do not understand what Jeremy was trying to convey to the audience. Is it because I am aChristian and God was completely left out, or because I am so troubled by the human condition that I could not sleep until 7 a.m. and am rather fuzzy in my head from crying about the pain the whole creation is going through and the hopelessness for most of the world about the dream of a solid and happy future ahead.

WTM Admin

Hi Keren, in this summary presentation Jeremy Griffith briefly explains God is the Negative-Entropy-driven integrative meaning of existence and refers the audience to chapter 4 of his book FREEDOM. We also recommend our FAQs on religion, including FAQ 6.2 ‘What is God’. We should also point out that with regard to the difficulty you are having understanding what Jeremy is conveying, is that while the fundamental explanation is actually very simple, the very nature of the human condition means explanation of it can be difficult to access initially as it has been the most terrifying of subjects to face because it is the issue of whether we are fundamentally good or bad as a species, and we have necessarily lived in almost total denial of it. We suggest looking at Video/Freedom Essay 1 titled ‘Your block to the most wonderful of all gifts’ where Jeremy explains this initial ‘deaf effect’ and how to overcome it, which is also summarised in FAQ 1.16.

Think what was said about the human condition was accurate. The problem is teaching it to other humans. So many philosophers have tried, we can’t even remember their name. That is one of the condition we have no memory of ourselves. We write books about the condition but don’t know it

WTM Admin

We suggest that while philosophers have tried to explain the human condition, they never really got to the bottom of it. We suggest FAQ 1.13 https://www.humancondition.com/wtm-faq-is-this-idea-original/ ‘Is this original or new?’ which explains the unique significance of Jeremy Griffith’s work.

Very interesting

Charles Gaye

This is the first interview I’ve ever learned to have a real deep meaning for our existence as a human.

Adele

It makes so much sense I’ve been looking in to the human condition for a few years now!

Gregory Herman

Thank you for your perspectives. I appreciate the altruistic lure. However, I think that there are more primary variables involved than just instinct and intellect. The willingness for self-sacrifice and environmental variables must play vital roles as well. In Eden, as in Bonobo land, the environment may be (or was) conducive for attaining individual and group bliss and harmony, but in harsher environments with limited resources, instincts will normally surpass intellect in order to compete to survive. The 2-million-year threshold is also likely wrong, as Homo Sapiens were/are not the only intelligent species. Also, the ‘left’ can’t be the poison if that’s where we will all hope to end up? Seems like a dichotomy. What I most appreciated about this video were the two quotes from Planck and Shaw concerning the difficulties of advancing science, and the importance of early nurturing to teach compassion and understanding in developing individuals. The ‘Fall’ is another somewhat problematic concept. It’s not like Homo Sapiens developed the ‘human condition’ spontaneously. I was introduced to it early on as a child as Catholic ‘original sin’. And with that in mind, thank you for calling out BS when you sense it.

WTM Admin

Thank you for your questions Gregory. We thought it worth mentioning even though THE Interview is a summary presentation it does provide references to more comprehensive material where answers to questions like you have asked are presented. Also, to assist enquirers we have an extensive FAQ facility, along with Jeremy’s other books and essays, which can be easily searched electronically. For example you will that it is explained how bonobos (and our ancestors) developed completely loving instincts, not ‘survival of the fittest’ instincts, in FAQ 5.2. In chapter 8 of Jeremy’s definitive book FREEDOM, he examines the hominin fossil record, with the evidence that consciousness and the human condition emerged some 2 million years ago with the emergence of Homo habilis. You can read more about how the left wing’s imposition of cooperative behaviour stops the corrupting search for knowledge in our FAQs About Politics.

Peter Rayner

You almost lost me when you said scientists were the redemers and saviours of the world after admonishing the bibles fall from grace statement. But I carried on listening and thought that the ideas were good but the claims of our world now becoming a better place were unfounded. One person’s knowledge is not enough without humanity acting.

WTM Admin

Thanks for your thoughts Peter. Yes, as explained in our response to Efaraima below, we can now understand that Adam and Eve were good, not bad, to take the fruit from the tree of knowledge. In other words, the ‘fall’ as it is called, is a heroic state, not a ‘sinful’, ‘evil’ state.     With regards to this making the world a better place, by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts (which is that genes can orientate but nerves need to understand) our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation are made redundant. While it will take generations to completely heal the human race, as Jeremy says in Freedom Essay 15, the “particular undeniable consequence of the arrival of understanding of the human condition of the transformation of our lives from living selfishly and competitively to living selflessly and cooperatively that is going to eventually catch on as being the right response now for everyone and when it does, it will spread like wildfire across our planet, and save the world. In Part 4 of THE Interview, Jeremy explains how the psychological rehabilitation of the human race that the arrival of understanding of the human condition finally makes possible, actually occurs.

Efaraima Rosh Vili

I am not a someone with high education, via all my life I knew in my heart that science is the language can only describe the internal scriptures in full understanding of the Bible.

WTM Admin

Yes, Jeremy Griffith’s Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition brings biological understanding to religious accounts of our condition, which means we can at last reconcile science and religion. For instance, as THE Interview explains, the story of Adam and Eve is a pre-scientific metaphor for the emergence of consciousness and its clash with our pre-established, cooperative loving instincts, resulting in humans becoming psychologically upset or ‘sinful’ or ‘evil’. However, significantly we can now understand, from scientific first principles, that ‘Adam and Eve’ were actually ‘good’ to search for knowledge, not bad or ‘evil’; we humans are actually the absolute heroes of the whole story! It establishes that we are good and not bad after all. What THE Interview presents fundamentally lifts the ‘burden of guilt’ from the human race and allows us to forgive ourselves and others and finally end our psychologically troubled human condition—it couldn’t be a bigger breakthrough. You might be interested in our FAQs about religion, especially 6.2 ‘What is God’ and 6.3 ‘Does this understanding undermine religion’.

Very interesting, all we need is the will to change, and the opportunity to make it happen. This one happens one soul at a time, and information is key. Jeremys work give people that chance to change.

Eunice Geldenhuys

Great stuff ‘WOW thank u so much

Elizabeth

Thank you for stating our conscious state of mind

Bridget

For many many years I have wondered what and how we exist. I am on a journey now wanting to discover more. Firstly by looking at myself and some of my behaviours from self esteem to how I react to certain situations. I know I am a good human and I believe others are to. Why can’t we understand each other better? The interview definitely made me understand what has gone wrong in our evolution of the human race. Thank you

sadam

This is a revelation! I don’t know what my life would be like without this great scientific effort. This research is so consistent and novel that it really changes the way I think about the world!

David Gahagan

Yes, this is a much needed starting point in man’s journey to relieving the constant state of anxiety imposed by soul-less individuals. I have understood this information and have taken it to the logical conclusion. Atonement and gnosis are two beautiful results. Spread far and wide.

WTM Admin

Thank you David. There is a lot to digest here and you are well on your way. The only point we would make is that the “constant state of anxiety” is not “imposed by soul-less individuals”, but is a result of the instinct vs intellect clash within us all. Certainly, due to their particular encounter with the human condition, some people are more psychologically upset than others, and that can lead them to impose their particular state upon others, but the key point is that we all suffer from the human condition, and this explanation of it is redeeming and ameliorates it. We can now see that all humans are equally good. You might be interested in FAQ 1.34, in which Professor Harry Prosen writes, “What Griffith is presenting is understanding of the source insecurity that the whole human race suffers from for having destroyed our species’ innocent soul. It is a universal self-blame that his understanding at last provides healing insight into. All human behavior is saturated with that universal insecure, depressing state and resulting anger, egocentricity and alienation that has developed from it, but we finally have the compassionate foundation insight needed to dismantle all that ‘upset’/psychosis. So the real psychotherapy of our collective and individual psychoses can begin”; and also FAQ 1.35: Does this heal anxiety?

Enock Okeng'o

Incredibly astonishing to hear this noble revelation over long time of silent/loud human suffering condition. It’s amazing.

Patricia Norwood

Thank you, that’s fantastic information. Well done.

Arne Johan Furseth

Is the emergence of this consciousness also the reason why modern man exterminated the Neanderthals

WTM Admin

As more upset examples of Homo emerged they inevitably displaced more innocent, older versions, just as in our own time more ‘primitive’ races have been displaced by the more upset. You might be interested in paragraph 907 of chapter 8:15 of FREEDOM, which includes the following passage: “Anthropology now evidences this progression in upset, with the more innocent Neanderthals, Denisovans, Flores man and Red Deer Cave people being replaced around this time by more upset modern humans. We can tell that these archaic people were more innocent because the skulls of the modern humans who replaced them were far more neotenous, and, as explained in pars 787 and 802, neoteny is by now associated with increased upset. Archaeologists maintain that ‘organised conflict between groups [of people is]…typically associated with agriculture [because] people settled into land and used it for growing crops, so they became very defensive about it’, but this defence-of-resources explanation is just another of the excuses denial-complying scientists have employed to avoid the real, psychological interpretation of human development, which Moses was able to truthfully recognise. In his 1955 book The Inheritors, the Nobel Prize-winning author Sir William Golding gave an honest depiction of a meeting between modern man and a band of Neanderthals; in reviewing the book, Penelope Lively wrote that ‘their [modern man’s] objective was extermination’, and ‘the terrible ending, when Lok [the Neanderthal] is alone, the last of his kind, and dies of grief, is the death of innocence’.”

Michelle Friedman

Fascinating ! I feel I’ve suddenly understood so much ! Part 4, lifting the guilt of the human race is extraordinary! Psychological relief. We can become whole. Thank you! We are fundamentally good.

Thomas John Skokan

Interesting , perhaps , even fascinating , but potentially fatally flawed ... Seemingly yet more justification for human superiority....Dominion vs Stewardship....

WTM Admin

Thank you for your comment Thomas. While we can now understand that our competitive, aggressive, destructive, even seemingly ‘evil’ behaviour was an unavoidable, indeed necessary, part of human life, this does not ‘condone’ such behaviour or justify the continuing egocentric ‘domination’ of our planet. No, while this understanding defends our so-called ‘dark side’ and explains that despite all appearances to the contrary, all humans are ‘good’, by explaining the very good reason why our intellect had to defy our instincts, it makes redundant our defensive behaviours of anger, egocentricity and alienation, allowing us to return to the loving, cooperative state of ‘stewardship’ that we all crave! As is explained in FAQ 1.38, “And with the ability now to explain and understand that all humans are good and not bad, all the upset that resulted from not being able to explain the source of our divisive condition is able to subside and disappear. Finding understanding of the human condition is what rehabilitates and transforms the human race from its psychologically upset angry, egocentric and alienated condition. As Professor Harry Prosen, former President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, has said about the psychological effect of this redeeming, all-compassionate and all-loving understanding of ourselves: ‘I have no doubt this biological explanation of the human condition is the holy grail of insight we have sought for the psychological rehabilitation of the human race.’ Yes, our ability now to understand the dark side of ourselves means we can finally achieve the ‘wholeness for humans’ that the great psychologist Carl Jung was forever pointing out ‘depends on the ability to own our own shadow’.”
